Scanner Does Not Work
Check 1
Make sure that your scanner or printer is turned on.
Check 2
Connect the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer.
Check 3
If the USB cable is connected to a USB hub, remove it from the USB hub and
connect it to a USB port on the computer.
Check 4
With network connection, check the connection status and reconnect as
needed.

Restart the computer.

please follow the instructions for resolving the 1643 support code, by either (1)
scanning from an external device such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet using the
corresponding application software, (2) pressing the Stop button to scan by using the
operation panel on the printer, or (3) filling the ink tank to the single dot shown on the
ink tank. If you encounter difficulty scanning after performing step 2, please verify that
the firmware updates available on the Canon website have been downloaded to your
printer.
