_ ARNING:Whenremovingthe cutting
bladefor sharpeningor replacement,
protectyourhandswith a pairof heavy
glovesor usea heavyragto holdtheblade.
Periodicallyinspectthebladeadapterforcracks,
especiallyifyoustrikeaforeignobject.Replacewhen
necessary.Followthestepsbelowforbladeservice.
1. Disconnectsparkplugwirefromsparkplug.Turn
moweronitssidemakingsurethattheair filterand
thecarburetorareup.
2. Removetheboltandthebladebellsupportwhich
holdthebladeandthebladeadaptertotheengine
crankshaft.SeeFigure5-2.
3. Removebladeandadapterfromthecrankshaft.
4. Thebladecanbesharpenedwithafileor ona
grindingwheel.Followtheoriginalangleandgrind
eachcuttingedgeequally.Donotattempttosharpen
thebladewhileitisstillon themower.
5. Placethebladeon a roundshaftscrewdrivertocheck
forbalance.Removemetalfromtheheavysideuntilit
balancesevenly.

cause excessivevibrationwhen rotating
at high speeds.It maycausedamageto
mower,and couldbreakcausingpersonalinjury.
6. Toreassemble,lubricatetheenginecrankshaftand
theinnersurfaceofthebladeadapterwith lightoil.
Slidethebladeadapterontotheenginecrankshaft.
7. Placethebladeon theadaptersuchthattheside
oftheblademarked"Bottom"(orwithpartnumber)
facesgroundwhenthemowerisintheoperating
position.Makesurethatthebladeisalignedand
seatedon bladeadapterflanges.
8. Placebladebellsupportontheblade.Alignnotches
onthebladebellsupportwithsmallholesinblade.
9. Replacehexboltandtightenhexbolttotorque:450
in.Ibs.rain.,600in.Ibs.max.
Toensuresafeoperationofyourmower,periodically
checkthebladeboltforcorrecttorque.

Cleanandlubricatemowerthoroughlyasdescribedin
thelubricationinstructions.
Refertoenginemanualforcorrectenginestorage
instructions.
Coatmower'scuttingbladewithchassisgreaseto
preventrusting.
Storemowerin adry,cleanarea.Donotstorenextto
corrosivematerials,suchasfertilizer.
Whenstoringanytypeofpowerequipmentina poorly
ventilatedor metalstorageshed,careshouldbetakento
rust-prooftheequipment.Usingalightoilor silicone,coat
theequipment,especiallycablesandall movingpartsof
yourlawnmowerbeforestorage.

or use a heavy rag to
hold the blade.
An unbalanced blade
will cause excessive
vibration when rotat-
ing at high speeds, it
may cause damage

sonal injury.
