Additional Safety Information
WARNING: Never modify the power tool or any part of
it. Damage or personal injury couldresult.
WARNING: ALWAYS use safety glasses. Everyday
eyeglasses are NOT safety glasses. Also use face or dust
mask if operation is dusty. ALWAYS WEAR CERTIFIED
SAFETYEQUIPMENT:
• ANSI Z87.1 eye protection (CAN/CSA Z94.3),
• ANSI S12.6 (S3.19) hearing protection,
• NIOSH/OSHA/MSHA respiratoryprotection.
WARNING: Some dust contains chemicals known
to State of California to cause cancer, birth defects
or other reproductive harm. Some examples of these
chemicals are:
• compounds in fertilizers,
• compounds in insecticides, herbicides
andpesticides,
• arsenic and chromium from chemically
treatedlumber.
To reduce your exposure to these chemicals, wear
approved safety equipment such as dust masks that
are specially designed to filter out microscopicparticles.
WARNING: Use of this tool can generate and/or
disperse dust, which may cause serious and permanent
respiratory or other injury. Always use NIOSH/OSHA
approved respiratory protection appropriate for
the dust exposure. Direct particles away from face
andbody.
g ) Never touch the blades while the tool isrunning.
h ) Never attempt to force the blades to come to
astandstill.
i ) Do not put the tool down until the blades have come to
a completestandstill.
j ) Regularly check the blades for damage and wear.
Do not use the tool when the blades aredamaged.
k ) Take care to avoid hard objects (e.g. metal wire,
railings) when trimming. Should you accidentally
hit any such object, immediately switch the tool off,
remove battery and check for anydamage.
l ) Should the tool start to vibrate abnormally,
immediately switch it off and remove the battery then
check for anydamage.
m ) If the tool stalls, immediately switch it off.
Remove the battery before attempting to remove
anyobstructions.
n ) After use, place the blade cover supplied over the
blades. Store the tool, making sure that the blade is
notexposed.
o ) Always ensure that all guards are fitted when
using the tool. Never attempt to use an incomplete
tool or a tool with unauthorisedmodifications.
p ) Never allow children to use thetool.
q ) Be aware of falling debris when cutting the higher sides
of ahedge.
r ) Always hold the tool with both hands and by the
handlesprovided.
Extended Reach Hedge Trimmer

a ) To reduce the risk of electrocution, never use the
extended‑reach hedge trimmer near any electrical
power lines. Contact with or use near power lines may
cause serious injury or electric shock resulting indeath.
b ) Always use two hands when operating the
extended‑reach hedge trimmer. Hold the
extended‑reach hedge trimmer with both hands to
avoid loss ofcontrol.
c ) Always use head protection when operating the
extended‑reach hedge trimmer overhead. Falling
debris can result in serious personalinjury.
d ) Check the hedge for foreign objects, e.g.
wirefences.
Additional Safety Instructions For
AllHedgeTrimmers
a ) The hedge trimmer is intended to be used by the
operator at ground level and not on ladders or any
other unstablesupport.
b ) Before operating the hedge trimmer, the user
should make sure the locking device(s) of any
moving elements (e.g. the extended shaft and
pivoting element), if any, are in the lockedposition
c ) The intended use is described in this instruction
manual. The use of any accessory or attachment or
performance of any operation with this tool other
than those recommended in this instruction manual
can present a risk of personal injury and/or damage
toproperty.
d ) Do not carry the tool with your hands on the front
handle, switch or the trigger switch unless the battery
has beenremoved.
e ) If you have not used a hedge trimmer before, preferably
seek practical instruction by an experienced user in
addition to studying thismanual.
f ) Only use the safety harness on one shoulder and not
across the body so that the user can easily remove it if
there is anissue.
Unexpected actuation of the hedge trimmer while
clearing jammed material or servicing may result in
serious personalinjury.
e ) Hold the hedge trimmer by insulated gripping
surfaces only, because the blade may contact
hidden wiring. Blades contacting a "live" wire may
make exposed metal parts of the hedge trimmer "live"
and could give the operator an electricshock.
f ) Keep all power cords and cables away from
cutting area. Power cords or cables may be hidden
in hedges or bushes and can be accidentally cut by
theblade.
g ) Do not use the hedge trimmer in bad weather
conditions, especially when there is a risk of
lightning. This decreases the risk of being struck
bylightning.
