CRAFTSMAN FULL WARRANTY

FOR TWO YEARS from the date of purchase, all non-expendable partsof this riding equipment are

warranted against any defects in material or workmanship. A defective non-expendable part will

receive free in-home repair or replacement if repair is impossible.

FOR FIVE YEARS from the date of purchase, the frame and front axle of this riding equipment are

warranted against any defects in material or workmanship, A defective frame or front axle wilt receive

free in-home repair or replacement if repair is impossible.

FOR 90 DAYS from the date of purchase, the battery (an expendable part) of this riding equipment

is warranted against any defects in material or workmanship (our testing provesthat it will not hold a

charge). A defective battery will receive free in-home replacement.

ADDITIONAL LIFETIME LIMITED WARRANTY on CAST IRON FRONT AXLE (if equipped)

FOR AS LONG AS IT 1SUSED by the originalowner after the fifth yearfrom the date of purchase,the

cast iron front axle (if equipped) of thisriding equipmentis warranted against any defects in material or

workmanship. With proof of purchase, a defective cast front axle will receivefree in-home replacement.

All of the above warranty coverage is void if this dding equipment is ever used while providing

commercial services or if rented to another person.

This warranty covers ONLY defects in material and workmanship. Warranty coverage does NOT

include:

• Expendable parts (except battery) that can wear out from normal use within the warranty period,

including but not limited to blades, spark plugs, air cleaners, belts, and oilfilters.

• Standard maintenance servicing, oil changes, or tune-ups.

• Tire replacement or repair caused by punctures from outside objects, such as nails, thorns,

stumps, or glass.

• Tire or wheel replacement or repair resulting from normal wear, accident, or improper operation or

maintenance.

• Repairs necessary because of operator abuse, including but not limited to damage caused by

towing objects beyond the capability of the riding equipment, impacting objects that bend the

frame, axle assembly or crankshaft, or ever-speeding the engine.

• Repairs necessary because of operator negligence, including but not limited to, electnca] and

mechanical damage caused by improper storage, failure to use the proper grade and amount

of engine oil, failure to keep the deck clear of flammable debris, or failure to maintain the riding

equipment according to the instructions contained in the operator's manual.

• Engine (fuel system) cleaning or repairs caused by fuel determined to be contaminated or oxidized

(stale). In general, fuel should be used within 30 days of its purchase date.

• Normal deterioration and wear of the exterior finishes, or product label replacement.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may afso have other rights which vary from

state to state,

_DANGER: This cutting machine is capable of amputating hands and feet and

throwing objects. Failure to observe the following safety instructions could result

in serious injury or death.

_WARNING: In orderto preventacciden-

tal starting when setting up, transporting,

adjusting or making repairs, always discon-

nect spark plug wire and place wire where

it cannot contact spark plug.

_kWARNING: Do not coast down a hill in

neutral, you may lose control of the tractor.

_kWARNING: Tow only the attachments

that are recommended by and comply with

specifications of the manufacturer of your

tractor. Use common sense when towing.

Operate only at the lowest possible speed

when on a slope. Too heavy of a load, while

on a slope, is dangerous. Tires can lose

traction with the ground and cause you to

lose control of your tractor.

__WARNING: Engine exhaust, some of

itsconstituents, and certain vehicle compo-

nents contain or emit chemicals known to

the State of California to cause cancer and

birth defects or other reproductive harm.

_kWARNING: Battery posts, terminals and

related accessories contain lead and lead

after handling.

I, GENERAL OPERATION

• Read, understand, and follow allinstruc-

tions on the machine and in the manual

before starting.

• Do not put hands or feet near rotating

parts or under the machine. Keep clear

of the discharge opening at all times,

• Only allow responsible adults, who are

familiar with the instructions, to operate

the machine.

• Clear the area of objects such as rocks,

toys, wire, etc., which could be picked

up and thrown by the blades.

• Be sure the area is clear of bystanders

beforeoperating. Stop machineifanyone

enters the area,

• Never carry passengers.

• Do not mow in reverse unless absolutely

necessary. Always look down and behind

before and while backing.

Never direct discharged material toward

anyone. Avoid discharging material

against a wall or obstruction. Material

may ricochet back toward the operator.

Stop the blades when crossing gravel

surfaces,

Do not operate machine without the en-

tire grass catcher, discharge chute, or

othersafety devices in place andworking.

Slow down before turning.

Never leave a running machine unat-

tended. Always turn off blades, set

parking brake, stop engine, and remove

keys before dismounting.

Disengage blades when not mowing,

Shut off engine and wait for all parts to

come to a complete stop before cleaning

the machine, removingthe grass catcher,

or unclogging the discharge chute.

Operate machine onfy indaylight or good

artificial light.

Do not operate the machine while under

the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Watch for trafficwhen operating near or

crossing roadways.

Use extra care when loading or unloading

the machine into a trailer or truck.

Always wear eye protection when operat-

ing machine.

Data indicates that operators, age 60

years and above, are involved ina large

percentage of riding mower-related inju-

ries. These operators should evaluate

their ability to operate the riding mower

safely enough to protect themselves and

others from serious injury.

Fol]owthe manufacturer's recommenda-

tion forwheel weights orcounterweights,

Keep machine free of grass, leaves or

other debris build-up which cantouch hot

exhaust/engine parts and burn. Do not

allow the mower to plow leaves or other

debris which can cause build-up to oc-

cur. Clean any oil or fuel spillage before

operating or storing the machine. Allow

machine to cool before storage.

II, SLOPE OPERATION

Slopes are a major factor related to Lossof

control and tip-over accidents, which can

result in severe injury or death. Operation

on al! slopes requires extra caution, If you

cannot back upthe slope orifyou feel uneasy

on it, do not mow it,

• Mow up and down slopes, not across.

• Watch for holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, or

other hidden objects. Uneven terrain

could overturn the machine. Tall grass

can hide obstacles.

• Choose a [ow ground speed so that you

will not have to stop or shift while on the

slope.

• Do not mow on wet grass. Tires may lose

traction.

Always keep the machine in gear when

going down slopes, Do not shift to neutral

and coast downhill.

• Avoid starting, stopping, or turning on a

slope. Ifthetireslosetraction, disengage

the blades and proceed slowly straight

down the slope.

• Keep all movement on the slopes slow

and gradual. Do not make sudden

changes in speed or direction, which

could cause the machine to roll over.

• Use extra care while operating machine

with grass catchers orother attachments;

they can affect the stability of the ma-

chine. Do no use on steep slopes.

• Do not try to stabilize the machine by

putting your foot on the ground.

• Do not mow near drop-offs, ditches,

or embankments. The machine could

suddenly roll over if a wheel is over the

edge or if the edge caves in.

II1.CHILDREN

_iLWARNING: CHILDRENCANBE INJURED

BYTHIS EQUIPMENT.The American Acade-

my of Pediatrics recommends that children

be a minimum of 12 year of age before op-

erating a pedestrian controlled lawn mower

and a minimum of 16 years of age before

operating a riding lawn mower.

Tragic accidents can occur if the operator

is not alert to the presence of children.

Children are often attracted to the machine

and the mowing activity. Never assume

that children will remain where you last

saw them.

• Keep children out of the mowing area

and in the watchful care of a responsible

adult other than the operator.

. Be alert and turn machine off if a child

enters the area.

• Before and while backing, look behind

and down for small children.

• Never carry children, evenwiththe blades

shutoff. They mayfalloffand beseriously

injured or interfere with safe machine

operation. Children who have been given

rides in the past may suddenly appear in

the mowing area for another ride and be

run over or backed over by the machine.

• Never a]!ow children to operate the ma-

chine,

• Use extra care when approaching blind

corners, shrubs, trees, or other objects

that may block your view of a child.

IV. TOWING

• Tow only with a machine that has a hitch

designed for towing. Donot attach towed

equipment except at the hitch point,

• Followthe manufacturer's recommenda-

tion for weight limits for towed equipment

and towing on slopes.

• Never allow children or others in or on

towed equipment.

• On slopes,theweightofthetowedequip-

ment may cause loss oftraction and toss

of control.

• Travel slowly and allowextra distance to

stop.

V. SERVICE

SAFE HANDLING OF GASOLINE

To avoid personal injury or property dam-

age, use extreme care in handling gasoline.

Gasoline is extremely flammable and the

vapors are explosive,

• Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes,

and other sources of ignition.

• Use only approved gasoline container.

- Never remove gas cap or add fuel with

the engine running, Allow engine to cool

before refueling.

- Never fuelthe machine indoors,

• Never store the machine orfuel container

where there is an open flame, spark, or

pilot light such as on a water heater or

other appliances.

• Never fill containers inside a vehicle or

on a truck or trailer bed with plastic liner.

Always place containers on the ground

away from your vehicle when filling.

° Removegas-poweredequipmentfrom

thetruckortrailerandrefuelitonthe

ground.Ifthisisnotpossible,thenrefuel

suchequipmentwithapor_biecontainer,

ratherthanfroma gasolinedispenser

nozzle.

• Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerim

ofthefueltankorcontaineropeningat

all times until fueling is complete. Do not

use a nozzle lock-open device.

• Iffuel isspilled on clothing, change cloth-

ing immediately,

° Never overfill fuel tank. Replace gas cap

and tighten securely.

GENERAL SERVICE

° Neveroperate machine in a closed area.

• Keep all nuts and boltstightto besurethe

equipment is in safe working condition,

• Nevertamperwithsafetydevices. Check

their proper operation regularly,

• Keep machine free of grass, leaves, or

other debris build-up. Clean oil or fuel

spillage and remove any fuel-soaked de-

bris. Allow machineto cool beforestoring.

• tf you strike a foreign object, stop and

inspect the machine, Repair, if necessary,

before restarting.

• Never make any adjustments or repairs

with the engine running.

• Checkgrass catchercomponents andthe

discharge chute frequently and replace

with manufacturer's recommended parts,

when necessary.

• Mower blades are sharp. Wrap the blade

or wear gloves, and use extra caution

when servicing them.

• Check brake operation frequently. Adjust

and service as required.

• Maintain orreplace safety and instruction

labels, as necessary,

• Be sure the area is clear of bystanders

before operating. Stop machine ifanyone

enters the area.

• Never carry passengers,

blades shut off. They may fall off and

be seriously injured or interfere with safe

machine operation. Children who have

disengage blades, shift into reverse and

back down slowly.

• Do not turn on slopes unless necessary,

and then, turn slowly and gradually

downhill, if possible.

• When loading orun]oadingthis machine,

do not exceed the maximum recom-

mended operation angle of 15°.

• Wear proper Personal Protective Equip-

ment (PPE) while operating this machine,

including (at a minimum) sturdy footwear,

eye protection, and hearing protection.

Do not mow in shorts and/or open toed

footwear.

• Always let someone knowyou are outside

mow=rig.

an internal combustion engine and should

not be used on or near any unimproved

forest-covered, brush-covered or grass-

covered land unless the engine's exhaust

system is equipped with a spark arrester

meeting applicable local or state laws (if

any). If a spark arrester is used, it should

be maintained in effective working order by

the operator.

In the state of Californiathe above is required

by law (Section 4442 of the California Public

Resources Code). Other states may have

similar laws, Federal laws apply on federal

TO REMOVE TRACTOR FROM

UNPACK CARTON

• Remove all accessible loose parts and

parts cartons from carton.

• Cut along dotted lines on aJ]four pan-

els of carton. Remove end panels and

lay side panels flat.

• Check for any additional loose parts or

cartons and remove.

CHECK TIRE PRESSURE

The tires on your tractor were overinflatedat

the factory for shipping purposes. Correct

tire pressure Is important for best cutting

performance,

CHECK DECK LEVELNESS

For best cutting results, mower housing

should be properly leveled. See TO LEVEL

MOWER" in the Service and Adjustments

section of this manual.

CHECK FOR PROPER POSITION OF

ALL BELTS

See the figures that are shown for replacing

motion and mower blade drive belts in the

Service and Adjustments section of this man-

ual. Verify that the belts are routed correctly.

CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM

After you learn how to operate your tractor,

check to see that the brake is operating

properly. See "TO CHECK BRAKE" in the

Service and Adjustments section of this

manual.

various controls and adjustments. Save this manual for future reference,

(A) ATTACHMENT LIFT LEVER - Used to

raise and lower the mower or other attach-

merits mounted to your tractor.

(B) CLUTCH/BRAKE PEDAL - Used for

declutching and braking the tractor and

starting the engine.

for starting and controlling engine speed.

to engage the mower blades, or other attach-

(G) REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM

(ROS) "ON" POSITION - Allows operation

of mower or other powered attachment while

in reverse,

(H) LIGHT SWITCH - Turns the headlights

on and off.

(J) MOTION CONTROL LEVER - Selects

the speed and direction of tractor,

(M) FREEWHEEL CONTROL- Disengages

transmission for pushing or slowfytowing the

tractor with the engine off.

The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into t

the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety I

glasses or eye shields while operating your tractor or performing any I

adjustments or repairs. We recommend standard safety glasses or a I

wide vision safety mask worn over spectacles. I

HOW TO USE YOUR TRACTOR

TO SET PARKING BRAKE

Your tractor is equipped with an operator

presence sensing switch, When engine is

running, any attempt bythe operator to leave

theseat without first setting the parking brake

wilt shut off the engine,

1. Depress clutch/brake pedal (B) all the

way down and hold,

2, Pull parking brake lever (C) up and hold,

release pressure from clutch/brake pedal

STOPPING

MOWER BLADES -

• To stop mower blades, move attachment

clutch control to disengaged position (_'_).

• Move throttle control (D) to fast position.

NOTE: Failureto move throttle control to fast

position before stopping may cause engine

to "backfire",

• "SJrnignition key (F) to "STOP" position

and remove key. Always remove key when

leavingtractorto prevent unauthorized use.

• Never use choke to stop engine.

IMPORTANT: Leaving the ignitionswitch in

any position otherthan "STOP" will causethe

battery to discharge and go dead,

NOTE: Under certain conditions whentractor

is standing idlewith the engine running, hot

engine exhaust gases may cause "brown-

ing" of grass. To eliminate this possibility,

always stop engine when stopping tractor

on grass areas,

CAUTION: Always stop tractor com-

pletely, as described above, before leaving

the operator's position.

TO USE THROTTLE CONTROL (D)

Always operate engine at full speed (fast).

• Operating engine at less than full speed

(fast)reduces engine's operating efficiency.

• Full speed (fast) offers the best mower

performance.

TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT

The position of the attachment lift lever (A)

determines the cutting height.

• Put attachment lift lever in desired cutting

height slot.

• Slidepointertab (T)to desired cutting height

as a reminder for next time you mow.

The cutting height range is approximately 1

to 4" (25,4 to 101,6 mm). The heights are

measured from the ground to the blade tip

with the engine not running, These heights

are approximate and may vary depending

upon soil conditions, height of grass and

types of grass being mowed.

• The averagelawn should be cutto approxi-

mately 2-1/2" (63,5 mm) during the cool

season and to over 3" (76,2 mm) during

hot months. For healthier and better look-

ing lawns, mow often and after moderate

growth,

• For best cutting performance, grass over

6" (152,4 mm) in height should be mowed

twice. Make the first cut relatively high; the

second to desired height.

TO ADJUST GAUGE WHEELS

Gauge wheels are properly adjusted when

they are slightly offthe ground when mower

is at the desired cutting height in operating

position. Gauge wheels then keep the deck

in proper position to help prevent scalping

in most terrain conditions.

NOTE: Adjust gauge wheels with tractor on

a flat level surface.

1. Adjust mower to desired cutting height

(See "TO ADJUST MOWER CUI-rlNG

HEIGHT" in this section of manual).

2. With mower indesired height of cut posi-

tion, gauge wheels should be assembled

so they are slightly off the ground. Install

gauge wheel in appropriate hole. Tighten

securely.

3. Repeat for all, installing gauge wheel in

same adjustment hole,

TO OPERATE MOWER

Your tractor is equipped with an operator

presence sensing switch. Any attempt

by the operator to leave the seat with the

engine running and the attachment clutch

engaged will shut off the engine, You must

remain fully and centrally positioned in the

seat to prevent the engine from hesitating or

cutting off when operating your equipment

on rough, rolling terrain or hills,

1. Select desired height of cut with attach-

ment liftlever.

2. Start mower blades by engaging attach-

ment clutch control.

TO STOP MOWER BLADES

Disengage attachment clutch control.

_I_CAUTION: Do not operate the mower

without either the entire grass catcher, on

mowers so equipped, orthe deflector shield

in place.

REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS)

Your tractor is equipped with a Reverse

Operation System (ROS). Any attempt by

the operator to travel inthe reverse direction

withthe attachment clutch engaged will shut

off the engine unless ignition key is placed

inthe ROS "ON" position.

_kWARNING: Backing up with the at-

tachment clutch engaged while mowing is

stronglydiscouraged. Turningthe ROS "ON",

to allow reverse operation with the attach-

ment clutch engaged, should only be done

when the operator decides it is necessary to

reposition the machine with the attachment

engaged, Do not mow in reverse unless

absolutely necessary.

USING THE REVERSE OPERATION

SYSTEM -

Onty use if you are certain no children orother

bystanders wilt enter the mowing area.

1. Move motion control lever to neutral

position.

2. With engine running, turn ignition key

counterclockwise to ROS "ON" posi-

tion.

3. Look down and behind before and while

backing.

4. Slowly move motion control lever to

reverse (R) position to start movement.

5. When useofthe ROSis no Iongerneeded,

turn the ignitionkey clockwise to engine

"ON" position.

TO OPERATE ON HILLS

_kWARNING: Do not drive up or down

hills with slopes greater than 15 ° and do not

drive across any slope. Use the slope guide

provided at the back of this manual.

• Choose the slowestspeed before starting

up or down hills.

• Avoid stopping or changing speed on

hills.

• If stopping is absolutely necessary, push

clutch/brake pedal quickly to brake position

and engage parking brake.

• Move motion control lever to neutral posi-

tion.

IMPORTANT: The motion control lever does

not return to neutral position when the clutch/

brake pedal is depressed.

• To restart movement, slowly release park-

ing brake and clutch/brake pedal.

• Slowly move motion control lever to slow-

est setting.

• Make all turns slowly.

TO TRANSPORT

When pushing or towing your tractor, be

sure to disengage transmission by placing

freewheel control in freewheeling position.

Free wheel control is located at the rear

drawbar of tractor.

• Raise attachment lift to highest position

with attachment lift control.

• Pull freewheel control out and into the slot

and release so it is held inthe disengaged

position.

• Do not push or tow tractor at more than

two (2) mph (3,2 kmih)o

• To reengage transmission, reverse above

procedure.

TOWING CARTS AND OTHER ATTACH-

MENTS

Tow only the attachments that are recom-

mended by and comply with specifications

of the manufacturer of your tractor. Use

common sense when towing. Too heavy of

a load, while on a slope, is dangerous. Tires

can lose traction with the ground and cause

you to lose control of your tractor.

BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE

CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

The engine inyour tractor has been shipped

from the factory already filled with summer

weight oi!,

1. Check engine oil with tractor on level

ground.

2. Remove oil fill cap!dipstick and wipe

clean, reinsertthe dipstick and screw cap

tight, wait for a few seconds, remove and

read oil level. If necessary, add oil until

"FULE' mark on dipstick is reached. Do

not overfill.

• For cold weather operation you should

change oil for easier starting (See the oil

viscosity chart inthe Maintenance section

of this manual).

• Tochange engine oil, seethe Maintenance

section in this manual.

ADD GASOLINE

• Fill fuel tank to bottom of filler neck. Do

not overfill. Use fresh, clean, regular

gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane.

Do not mix oil with gasoline. Purchase

fuel in quantities that can be used within

0 days to ensure fuel freshness.

CAUTION:Wipe oftany spilled oil orfuel.

Do not store, spill or use gasoline near an

open flame.

IMPORTANT: When operating in tempera-

tures below 32°F (0°C), use fresh, clean

winter grade gasoline to help ensure good

cold weather starting.

CAUTION: Alcohol blended fuels (called

gasohol or using ethanol or methanol) can

attract moisture which leads to separation

and formation of acids during storage. Acidic

gas can damage thefuel system of an engine

while in storage. To avoid engine problems,

the fuel system shou/d be emptied before

storage of 30 days or longer, Drain the gas

tank, start the engine and let it run until the

fuel lines and carburetor are empty. Use

fresh fuel nextseason. SeeStorage Instruc-

tions for additional information. Never use

engine or carburetor cleaner productsin the

fuel tank or permanent damage may occur.

Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable alternative in

minimizing the formation offuel gum deposits

during storage. Add stabilizer to gasoline in

fuel tank or storage container. Always follow

the mix ratio found on stabilizer container.

Run engine at least 10 minutes after adding

stabilizer to allow the stabilizer to reach the

carburetor. Do not empty the gas tank and

carburetor if using fuel stabilizer.

TO START ENGINE

When starting the engine for the first time or

if the engine has run out of fuel, it will take

extra cranking time to move fuel from the

tank to the engine.

1. Sit on seat in operating position, depress

clutch/brake pedal and set parking brake.

2. Ptace gear shift lever in neutral position.

3. Move attachment clutch to disengaged

position.

4. Move throttle control to choke position,

NOTE: Before starting, read the warm and

cold starting procedures below,

5. Insert key into ignition and turn key

clockwise to start position and release

key as soon as engine starts. Do not run

starter continuously for more than fifteen

seconds per minute. If the engine does

not start after several attempts, move

throttle control to fast position, wait a

few minutes and try again, tf engine still

does not start, move the throttle control

back to the choke position and retry.

WARM WEATHER STARTING

(50°F (10°C) and above)

6. When engine starts, move the throttle

control to the fast position.

* The attachments and ground drive

can now be used, If the engine does

not accept the load, restart the engine

and allow it to warm up for one minute

using the choke as described above.

COLD WEATHER STARTING

(50°F (10°C) and below)

6, When engine starts, leavethrottle control

in choke position until engine warms up

and begins to run roughly. Once rough

running begins, immediately move the

throttle controltothe fast position, Engine

warm-up maytake from several seconds

to several minutes (the colder the tem-

perature, the longer the warm-up).

, The attachments can also be used

during the engine warm-up period.

PURGE TRANSMISSIO N

_kCAUTION: Never engage or disengage

freewheel lever while the engine isrunning.

Toensure properoperation and performance,

it is recommended that the transmission be

purged before operating tractor for the first

time.This procedurewill remove anytrapped

air inside the transmission which may have

developed during shipping of your tractor.

IMPORTANT: Should your transmission

require removal for service or replacement,

it should be purged after reinstallation before

operating the tractor.

1. Place tractor safely on a level surface -

that is clear of objects and open - with

engine off and parking brake set.

2. Disengage transmission by placing

freewheel control indisengaged position

(See "TO TRANSPORT" in this section

of manual).

3. Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine,

After the engine is running, movethrottle

control to slow position. With motion

control lever in neutral position, slowly

disengage clutch/brake pedal.

_I_CAUTtON: At any time, during step 4,

there may be movement of the drive wheels.

4. Move motion control lever to full forward

position and hold for five (5) seconds.

Move lever to full reverse position and

hold for five (5) seconds. Repeat this

procedure three (3) times.

5. Move motion control leverto neutral posi-

tion. Shutoifengine andset parkingbrake.

6. Engage transmission by placing free-

wheel control in engaged position (See

"TO TRANSPORT" in this section of

manual).

7, Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine.

After the engine is running, movethrottle

control to haft (1/2) speed. With motion

control lever in neutral position, slowly

disengage clutch/brake pedal.

8, Slowlymove motion control leverforward,

after the tractor moves approximately

five (5) feet (1,5 m), slowly move motion

control lever to reverse position. After

the tractor moves approximately five

(5) feet (1,5 m) return the motion control

lever to the neutral position. Repeat this

procedure with the motion control lever

three (3) times.

Your transmission is now purged and now

ready for normal operation,

MOWING TIPS

. DO NOT use tire chains when the mower

housing is attached to tractor.

• Mowershould be properly leveled for best

mowing performance. See "TO LEVEL

MOWER HOUSING" in the Service and

Adjustments section of this manual,

- The left hand side of mower should be

used for trimming.

• Drive sothat clippings are discharged onto

the area that has already been cut, Have

the cut areato the right of the tractor. This

will result in a more even distribution of

clippings and more uniform cutting.

o When mowing large areas, start byturning

to the right so that clippings will discharge

away from shrubs, fences, driveways,

etc, After one ortwo rounds, mow in the

opposite direction making left hand turns

untilfinished.

• If grass is extremely tall, it should be

mowed twice to reduce load and possible

fire hazard from dried clippings. Make

first cut relatively high; the second to the

desired height.

. Do not mow grass when it is wet. Wet

grass will plug mower and leave undesir-

able clumps. Allow grass to dry before

mowing.

• Always operate engine at full throttle

when mowing to assure better mow-

ing performance and proper discharge

of material. Regulate ground speed by

selecting a low enough gear to give the

mower cutting performance as wel! as the

quality of cut desired.

- When operating attachments, select a

ground speed that will suit the terrain and

give best performance of the attachment

being used.

tire damage.

NOTE: To seal tire punctures and prevent

flat tires due to slow leaks, tire sealant may

be purchased from your local parts dealer.

Tire sealant also prevents tire dry rot and

corrosion.

OPERATOR PRESENCE SYSTEM AND

REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS)

Be sure operator presence and reverse

operation systems are working properly. If

your tractor does not function as described,

repair the problem immediately.

. The engine should not start unless the

brake pedal is fully depressed, and the

attachment clutch control is in the disen-

gaged position.

CHECK OPERATOR PRESENCE SYSTEM

• When the engine is running, any attempt

by the operator to leave the seat without

first settingthe parking brake should shut

off the engine.

• When the engine is running and the at-

tachment clutch is engaged, any attempt

by the eperator to leave the seat should

shut off the engine.

• The attachment clutch should never oper-

ate unless the operator is in the seat,

CHECK REVERSE OPERATION (ROS)

SYSTEM

• When the engine is running withthe ignition

switch inthe engine "ON" position and the

attachment clutch engaged, any attempt

by the operator to drive in reverse should

shut off the engine.

• When the engineis running withthe ignition

switch in the ROS "ON" position and the

attachment clutch engaged, any attempt

by the operator to drive in reverse should

BLADE CARE

For best results mower blades must be sharp.

Replace worn, bent or damaged blades.

_L_CAUTION: Use only a replacement blade

approved bythe manufacturer of your tractor.

BLADE REMOVAL

1. Raise mower to highest position to a!low

access to blades.

NOTE: Protect your hands with gloves and/

or wrap blade with heavy cloth.

2. Remove blade bolt by turning counter-

clockwise.

3. Install new blade with stamped "GRASS

SIDE" facing the ground.

IMPORTANT: To ensure proper assembly,

center hole in blade must align with star on

mandrel assembly.

4. Install and tighten blade bolt securely

(45-55 Ft. Lbs./62-75 Nm).

IMPORTANT: Special blade bolt is heat

treated.

V-BELTS

CheckV-betts for deterioration and wear after

100 hours of operation and replace if neces-

sary. The belts are not adjustable. Replace

belts if they begin to slip from wear.

TRANSAXLE COOLING

The transmission fan and cooling fins should

be kept clean to ensure proper cooling,

Do not attempt to clean fan or transmission

while engine is running or while the trans-

mission is hot. To prevent possible damage

to seals, do not use high pressure water or

steam to clean transaxle.

• Inspect cooling fan to ensure fan blades

are intact and clean.

• Inspect cooling fins for dirt, grass clippings

and other materials. To prevent damage to

seals, do not use compressed air or high

pressure sprayer to clean cooling fins.

TRANSAXLE PUMP FLUID

The transaxle was sealed at the factory and

fluid maintenance is not required for the life

of the transaxle. Should the transaxle ever

leak or require servicing, contact your near-

est Sears or other qualified service center.

tion or at least once a year ff the tractor is

not used for 50 hours in one year,

Check the crankcase oil level before starting

the engine and after each eight (8) hours

of operation. Tighten oil fill cap/dipstick

securely each time you check the oil level.

TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL

Determine temperature range expected

before oil change. All oil must meet API

service classification SG-SL.

- Be sure tractor is on level surface,

• Oil will drain more freely when warm,

• Catch oit in a suitable container.

1, Remove oit fill cap!dipstick. Be careful

not to altow dirt to enter the engine when

changing oil,

2. Slide oildrain extension fromthe docking

position on the engine blower housing

and extend outward from engine.

4. After oil is drained completely, replace

cap and twist clockwise until it stops.

5, Re-attach oil drain extension to engine

blower housing.

6. Refill engine withoil through oil fill dipstick

tube. Pour slowly. Do not overfill. For ap-

proximatecapacity see "PRODUCT SP-

ECIF1CATIONS" section of this manual.

7. Use gauge on oil fill cap/dipstick for

checking level, For accurate reading,

tighten dipstick cap securely onto the

tube before removing dipstick. Keep oil

at "FULE' tine on dipstick. Tighten cap

onto the tube securely when finished.

ENGINE OIL FILTER

Replacethe engine oilfilter every season or

every other oil change if the tractor is used

more than 100 hours in one year.

AIR FILTER

Your engine wilt not run properly using a

dirty airfilter, Service paper cartridge every'

100 hours of operation or every season,

whicheveroccurs first.

Service air cleaner more often under dusty

conditions,

1. Remove cover,

2. Carefully remove air filter cartridge and

pre-cleaner from base.

3. Clean base carefully to prevent debris

from falling into carburetor.

NOTE: If very dirty or damaged, replace

cartridge.

4. Place new pro-cleaner and cartridge

firmly in base.

5. Replace cover.

IMPORTANT: Petroleum solvents, such as

kerosene, are not to be used to clean the

cartridge. They may cause deterioration of

the cartridge. Do not oil cartridge. Do not

use pressurized air to clean cartridge,

CLEAN AIR SCREEN

The air screen is over the air intake blower

located on top of engine. The air screen

must be keptfree of dirt and chaff to prevent

engine damage from overheating. Clean with

a wire brush or compressed air to remove

dirt and stubborn dried gum fibers,

ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM

Debris may clog the engine's air cooling

system. Remove blower housing and dean

area shown to prevent overheating and

engine damage.

IN-LINE FUEL FILTER

The fuel filtershouldbe replaced once each

season. If fuel filter becomes clogged, ob-

structing fuel flowto carburetor, replacement

is required.

1. With engine cool, remove filter and plug

fuel line sections.

2. Place newfuel filter in position in fuel line

with arrow pointing towards carburetor.

3. Be sure there are no fuel line leaks and

clamps are properly positioned.

4. Immediatelywipe up any spiUedgasoline.

Except for the washout port (if equipped),

we do not recommend using a garden hose

or pressure washer to clean the outside of

your tractor unless the engine and transmis-

sion are covered to keep water out. Water

in engine or transmission will shorten the

useful life of your tractor. Use compressed

air or a leaf blower to remove grass, leaves

and trash from outside tractor and mower.

DECK WASHOUT PORT

Your tractor's deck is equipped with a washout

port as part of its deck wash system. It should

be utilized after each use.

1. Drive the tractor to a level, clear spot on

your lawn, near enough to a water spigot

for your garden hose to reach.

IMPORTANT: Make certain the tractor's

discharge chute is directed AWAY from your

house, garage, parked cars, etc. Remove bag-

ger chute or mulch cover if attached.

2. Make sure the attachment clutch control

is in the "DISENGAGED" position, set

the parking brake, and stop the engine.

3. Thread the nozzle adapter (packaged with

your tractor's Operator's Manual) ontothe

end of your garden hose.

4. Pull back the lock collar of the nozzle

adapter and push the adapter onto the

deck washout port at the left end of the

mower deck. Release the lock collar to

lock the adapter on the nozzle.

IMPORTANT: Tug hose ensuring connection

is secure.

5, Turn the water on.

6. While sitting in the operator's position on

the tractor, re-start the engine and place

the throttle lever in the Fast "_" position.

IMPORTANT: Recheck the area to ensure the

area is clear. Ensure no children are in the:

area while cleaning the deck.

7. Move the tractor's attachment clutch con-

trol to the "ENGAGED" position. Remain

in the operator's position withthe cutting

deck engaged until the deck is cleaned,

8. Movethetractor's attachment clutch con-

trol to the "DISENGAGED" position. Turn

the ignition keyto the STOP position totum

the tractor's engine off. Turn the water off.

9. Pull back the lock collar of the nozzle

adapter to disconnect the adapter from

the nozzle washout port.

10. Move the tractor to adry area, preferably

a concrete or paved area. Piece the at-

tachment clutch contro!inthe"ENGAGED"

position to remove excess water and to

help dry before putting the tractor away.

_IbWARNING: A broken or missing washout

fitting could expose you or others to thrown

objects from contact with the blade.

* Replace broken or missing washout fitting

immediately, prior to using mower again.

WARNING: TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY, BEFORE PERFORMING ANY

SERVICE OR ADJUSTMENTS:

1. Depress clutch/brake pedal fully and set parking brake.

2, Place motion control lever in neutral position.

3. Place attachment clutch in "DISENGAGED" position.

4. Turn ignition key to "STOP" and remove key.

5. Ensure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped.

6. Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire where it cannot

come in contact with plug.

TO REMOVE MOWER

1. Place attachment clutch in "DISEN-

GAGED" position.

2. Lower attachment lift lever to its lowest

position.

3. Roll belt off engine pulley (M) and belt

keepers (G).

4. Remove retainer spring (K), slide collar

(L) off and push housing guide (P) out

of bracket.

5. Remove clutch cable spring (Q) from

idler arm (R).

6. Disconnect front link (E) from mower -

remove retainer spring and washer.

7. Go to either side of mower and discon-

nect mower suspension arm (A) from

chassis pin (B) and rear lift lank(C) from

rearmower bracket (D) - remove retainer

springs and washers.

CAUTION: After rear lift links are discon-

nected,the attachment lift leverwill be spring

loaded. Have a tight grip on lift lever when

changing position of the lever, .....

8. Slide mower out from under right side of

tractor.

IMPORTANT: If an attachment other than

the mower is to be mounted on the tractor,

remove the front link (E) and rear lift links

(Q) into the cable guide on front edge of

lower dash.

TO INSTALL MOWER

Ensuretracter is on level surface and engage

parking brake,

1. Lower attachment lift lever to its lowest

position.

_b, CAUTION: Lift fever is spring loaded.

Have a tight grip on lift lever, lower it slowly

and engage in lowest position.

NOTE: Ensure mower sidesuspension arms

(A) are pointing forward beforesliding mower

under tractor.

2, Slide mower under tractor until it is cen-

tered under tractor.

7. Insert end of link (E) into hote in front

5. ATTACH REAR LIFT LINKS (C) - Lift

rear corner of mower and position slot

in link assembly over pin (D) on rear

mower bracket and secure with washer

and retainer spring.

8. Hook end of clutch cable spring (Q) into

hole in idler arm (R).

9. Push clutch cable housing guide (P) into

bracket, slide collar (L) onto guide and

secure with retainer spring (K).

10. Install belt onto engine pulley (M) and belt

keepers (G).

ATTACH FRONT LINK (E) - Work from

left side of tractor. Insert rod end of link

assembly through front hole in tractor

front suspension bracket (F).

IMPORTANT: Check belt for proper routing

in all mower pulley grooves.

11. Raise attachment tilt lever to highest

position.

12.If necessapj', adjust gauge wheels before

operating mower as shown inthe Opera-

tion section of this manual.

TO LEVEL MOWER

Ensure tires are properly inflated to the PSi

shown on tires. If tires are over or under

inflated, it may affect the appearance of your

lawn and lead you to think the mower is not

adjusted properly.

VISUAL SIDE-TO-SIDE ADJUSTMENT

!. With alltires properly inflated and if your

lawn appears unevenly cut, determine

which side of mower is cutting lower.

2. With a 3/4" or adjustable wrench, turn

lift link adjustment nut (A) to the left to

lower LH side of mower, or, to the right

to raise LH side of mower.

3. Test your adjustment by mowing some

uncut grass and visually checking the

PRECISION SIDE-TO-SIDE ADJUSTMENT

1. With alltires properly inflated,parktracter

on level ground or driveway.

_iLCAUTION: Blades are sharp. Protect

your hands with gloves and/or wrap blade

with heavy cloth.

2. Raise mower to itshighest position.

3. At both sides of mower, position blade

at side and measure distance "A" from

bottom edge of bladeto ground. The dis-

tance should be the same on both sides.

4. If adjustment is necessary, see steps in

Visual Adjustment instructions above.

5, Recheckmeasurements; adjustifneces-

sary until both sides are equal.

FRONT-TO-BACK ADJUSTMENT

IMPORTANT: Deck must be level side-

to-side.

To obtain the best cutting results, the mower

blades should be adjusted so the front tip

is 1/8 to 1/2" (3,1 to 12,7 mm) (lower than

the rear tip when the mower is in its highest

position.

AI_CAUTION: Blades are sharp. Protect

your hands with gloves and/or wrap blade

with heavy cloth.

• Raise mower to highest position.

• Position any blade so the tip is pointing

straight forward. Measure distance "B" to

the ground at front and rear tip of blade.

• If front tip of blade is not 1/8 to 1/2" (3,1

to 12,7 mm) lower than the rear tip, go to

the front of tractor.

o With an 11/16" or adjustable wrench,

loosen jam nut "A" several turns to clear

adjustment nut "B",

° With a 3/4" or adjustable wrench, turn

front link adjustment nut"B" clockwise (r_)

(tighten) to raise the front of mower, or,

counterclockwise (_) (loosen) to lower

the front mower.

TO REPLACE MOWER BLADE DRIVE

The mower blade drive belt may be replaced

without tools. Park the tractor on level sur-

face. Engage parking brake.

BELT REMOVAL -

1, Remove mower fromtractor (See'qO RE-

2, Work belt off both mandrel pulleys and

idler pulleys.

3. Pull belt away from mower.

Park the tractor on level surface. Engage

TO CHECK BRAKE

tftractor requires morethan five (5) feet (1,5

m) to stop at highest speed in highest gear

on a level, dry concrete or paved surface,

then brake must be serviced.

You may also check brake by:

1. Park tractor on a level, dr':/concrete or

paved surface, depress brake pedal afl

theway down and engage parking brake.

2. Disengage transmission by placing

freewheel control in "transmission dis-

engaged" position, Pullfreewheel control

out and into the slot and release so it is

held in the disengaged position,

The rear wheels must lock and skid when

you tryto manually push the tractor forward.

If the rear wheels rotate, then the brake

needs to be serviced. Contact a Sears or

other qualified service center,

TO REMOVE WHEEL FOR REPAIRS

1. Block up axle securely,

2. Remove axle cover, retaining ring and

washers to atlow wheel removal (rear

wheels have a squarekey- Do notlose).

3. Repairtire and reassemble.

NOTE: On rear wheels only: align grooves in

rear wheel hub and axle. Insert square key.

4. Replacewashers and snap retaining ring

securely in axle groove.

5. Replace axle cover.

NOTE: To seal tire punctures and prevent

flat tires due to s[ow leaks, purchase and

use tiresealantfrom Sears. Tire sealant also

preventstire dry rot and corrosion,

Your new tractor front wheel toe-in and

camber is set at the factory and is normal,

The front wheel toe-in and camber are not

adjustable, if damage has occurred to

affect the factory set front wheel toe-in or

camber, contact a Sears or other qualified

service center,

TRANSAXLE MOTION CONTROL LEVER

NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT

The motioncon_'olieverhas been presetatthe

factory; adjustment should notbe necessary.

1. Loosen adjustment bolt in front of the

right rear wheel, and lightlytighten.

2. Start engine and move motion control

lever untiftractordoes not move forward

or back"ward.

3, Hold motion control lever in that position

and turn engine off.

4. While holding motion control lever in

place, loosen the adjustment bolt.

5. Move motion control lever to the neutral

(lock gate) position.

After above adjustment is made, if the trac-

tor still creeps forward or backward while

motion control lever is in neutral position,

1, Loosen the adjustment bolt.

2. Move the motion control lever 1/4 to 1/2

inch in the direction it is trying to creep.

3. Tighten adjustment bolt securely.

4. Start engine and test.

5. Iftractor still creeps, repeat above steps

until satisfied.

TOSTARTENGINEWlTH WEAK BATTERY

_,WARNING: Lead-acid batteries gener-

ate explosive gases. Keep sparks, flame

andsmoking materials away from batteries.

Always wear eye protection when around

batteries,

Ifyour battery istoo weak to startthe engine, it

should be recharged. (See "BATTERY" inthe

MAINTENANCE section of this manual).

if "jumper cables" are used for emergency

starting, follow this procedure:

IMPORTANT: Your tractor is equipped with

a 12 voltsystem, The othervehicle mustalso

be a 12 volt system. Do not use your tractor

battery to start other vehicles,

TO ATTACH JUMPER CABLES -

1. Connect one end of the RED cable to the

POSITIVE (+)terminal of each battery(A-

B),taking care notto short againsttractor

2. Connect one end of the BLACK cable

to the NEGATIVE (-) terminal (C) of fully

charged battery.

3. Connect the other end of the BLACK

cable (D)to good chassis ground, away

from fuel tank and battery.

2. Remove terminal cover.

3. Disconnect BLACK battery cable then

RED battery cable and carefully remove

battery from tractor.

4. Install new battery with terminals in same

position as old battery,

5. Reinstall terminal cover.

6. First connect RED battery cable to posi-

tive (+) battery terminal with bolt and nut

as shown. Tighten securely.

7. Connect BLACK grounding cableto nega-

tive (-) battery terminal with remaining

bolt and nut, Tighten securely

8. Lower seat pan.

Replace with 20 amp automotive-type plug-

in fuse. The fuse holder is located behind

the dash.

TO REMOVE HOOD & GRILL ASSEMBLY

1, Raise hood.

2, Unsnap headlight wire connector,

3, Stand in front of tractor. Grasp hood at

sides, tilt toward engine and lift off of

tractor.

4. When replacing hood, Ensure to recon-

nect the headlight wire connector.

the factory and adjustment should not be

The choke control has been preset at the

Immediatelyprepare your tractorfor storage

at the endof the season or ffthe tractor will

not be used for 30 days or more.

_bWARNING: Never store the tractor with

gasoline in the tank inside a building where

fumes may reach an open flame or spark.

Allow the engine to cool before storing in

any enclosure,

TRACTOR

Remove mower from tractor for winter

storage. When mower is to be stored for a

period of time, clean it thoroughly, remove

all dirt, grease, leaves, etc. Store in a clean,

dry area,

1. Clean entire tractor (See "CLEANING"

in the Maintenance section of this

manual).

2: Inspect and replace belts, if necessary

(See belt replacement instructions in the

Service and Adjustments section of this

manual).

3. Lubricate as shown in the Maintenance

section of this manual.

4. Ensure that all nuts, bolts and screws

are securely fastened. Inspect moving

parts for damage, breakage and wear.

Replace if necessary.

5. Touch up al! rusted or chipped paint

surfaces; sand lightly before painting.

BATTERY

• Fully charge the battery for storage.

• After a period of time in storage, battery

may require recharging.

• Tohelp prevent corrosion and power leak-

age during tong periods ofstorage, battery

cables should be disconnected and bat-

tery cleaned thoroughly (see "TO CLEAN

BATTERY AND TERMINALS" in the

Maintenance section of this manual).

• After cleaning, leave cables disconnected

and place cables where they cannot come

in contact with battery terminals.

• If battery is removed from tractor for

storage, do not store battePy"directly on

concrete or damp surfaces.

ENGINE

FUEL SYSTEM

IMPORTANT: It is important to prevent

gum deposits from forming in essential fuel

system parts such as carburetor,fuel hose,

ortank during storage. Also, alcohol blended

fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or

methanol) can attract moisture which leads

to separation and formation of acids during

storage. Acidic gas can damage the fuei

system of an engine while in storage.

, Empty the fuel tank by starting the engine

and letting it run until the fuel lines and

carburetor are empty.

• Never use engine or carburetor cleaner

products in the fuel tank or permanent

damage may occur.

° Use fresh fuel next season.

NOTE: Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable al-

ternative in minimizing the formation of fuel

gum deposits during storage. Add stabilizer

to gasoline in fuel tank or storage container.

Always followthe mix ratiofound on stabilizer

container. Run engine at least 10 minutes

afteradding stabilizer to aHowthe stabilizer to

reach the carburetor. Do not empty the gas

tank and carburetor if using fuel stabilizer,

ENGINE OIL

Drain oil (with engine warm) and replace

with clean engine oil. (See "ENGINE", in the

Maintenance section of this manual),

CYLINDER(S)

1, Remove spark plug(s),

2. Pourone ounce ofoilthroughspark plug

hole(s) into cylinder(s).

3. Turn ignition key to "START" positionfor

a few seconds to distribute oil.

4. Replace with new spark plug(s).

OTHER

• Do not store gasoline from one season to

another.

• Replaceyour gasoline can ffyour can starts

to rust. Rust and!or dirt in your gasoline

will cause problems.

• If possible, store your tractor indoors and

cover ittogive protection from dustand dirt.

° Cover your tractor with a suitable protec-

tive cover that does not retain moisture.

Do not use plastic, Plastic cannot breathe

which allows condensation to form and will

cause your tractor to rust.

IMPORTANT: Never cover tractor while

engine and exhaust areas are still warm.

I. FUNCIONAMIENTO GENERAL

Las pendientes son el mayor factor de accidentes

relativos a ta p_rdida de control y vuelco, que

pueden causar severas heddas o muerte+ El fun-

cionamiento en pendientes requiere una atenci6n

extra. Si no es posiblehacer marcha atr_s en una

pendiente o si te sientes incomodo, no Jacortes,

• Cortar hacia arriba y abajo de una pendiente,

no de modo horizontal.

• Poner atenciones a los hoyos, las raices, los

buttos, tas piedras u otros objetos escondidos.

El terreno irregular puede volcar la m_,quina.

La hierba alta puede esconder obst_culos.

• Escoger una velocidad de marcha baja de

mode que no sea necesario pararse o carnbiar

estando en una pendiente.

• No cortar la hierba mojada. Las ruedas pueden

perder tracci6n.

Poner siernpre una marcha cuando se est&

en pendientes. No poner en punto rnuerto eir

cuesta abajo.

• Evitar arrancar, pararse o girar an una pendien-

te. 81las ruedas pierdentracci6n, desconectar

Ias cuchillas y preceder despacio cuesta abajo

en la pendiente.

• Mantener rode los movimientos en las pen-

dientos lentos y gradual. No hacer cambios

repentinos de velocidad o direcci6n, ya quo

pueden causar el escape de la m&quina.

• Porter la m_xima atenci6n cuando Ia m_.quina

funciona con captadores de hierba u otros

dispositivos enganchados; pueden afectar la

estabilidad de Ia m&quina. No usar en pendi-

entes empinados.

• No intentar estabilizar la m&quina poniendo el

pie en et terreno.

• No cortar cerca de bajadas, cunetas y odllas.

Las m,_quina puedo volcarse irnprovisamente

si una rueda est& on el borde o se hunde.

III. N1NOS

_ADVERTENCIA: LOS NI_IOS PUIEDEN

SUFRIR DANES CON EL use DE ESTE EQUI-

PO. La Academia Estadounidenso de Pediatria

(American Academy of Pediatrics) recomienda

que s61o se permita a niSos con una edad mini-

ma de 12 aSos manejar m&quinas cortac_sped

manuales, y al menos de t 6 ahos para manejar

tractores cortac_sped.

Si el operador no pone atenci6n a la presencia

de los niSos pueden ocurrir accidentes tr&gicos.

Los niSos a menudo est&n atraidos per Ia m_.qui-

nay las actividad de cortar. No dar per hecho

chispas o una luz piloto come un calentador

de agua u otros dispositivos.

- Nunca llenar los contenedores al interior de

un vohiculo o on una caravana o cami6n

recubiertos con un forte de pl&stico. Colocar

siernpre los contenedores en el terreno lejos

del vehiculo cuando se est& Ilenando.

° Quitar el equipo de gas del carni6n o caravana

y abastecerlo en el terreno. Si no es posibIe,

abastecer dicho equipo con un contenedor por-

contenedor durante toda la operaci6n de

PARA REMOVER EL TRACTOR DE

LA CAJA DE CARTON

DESEMPAQUE LA CAJA DE CART6N

- Remueva todas tas partes sueltas que

est_n accesibles, y las cajas de partes, de

la caja de cart6n grande.

• Cortar a Io largo de las lineas de puntos

en todos los cuatro paneles de cart6n.

Remover los paneles de cierre y aplanar

los paneles Iaterales.

• Revise si hay partes sueltas adicionaIes o

cart6n y remu_valas.

ANTES DE REMOVER EL TRACTOR DE

LA CORREDERA

VERIFIQUE LA BATERiA

1. Levante del asiento a la posici6n levantada.

Servicio y Ajustes de este manual.

AJUSTE EL ASIENTO

1. Si6ntese sobre el asiento.

2. Levantela palanca del ajuste (A) haciaarriba

y mueva el asiento hasta que alcance una

posici6n c6moda que lepermita presionar com-

ptetarnentesobre el pedaldel embragueifreno.

3. Desconecte la palanca para trabar el asiento

en la posici6n.

AVISO: Ahora puede sacar el tractor de la tarima.

Contin0e usando las instrucciones que siguen

para retirar el tractor de Ia tadma.

_ADVERTENCIA: Antes de empezar, leer,

entender y seguir todas las instrucoiones presen-

tes en la secci6n Operaciones de este manual.

Asegurarse que el tractor est6 en un &rea bien

ventilada. Asegurarse que la zona delante deI

tractor est@libre de otras personas y objetos.

PARA HACER RODAR EL TRACTOR FUERA

DE LA CORREDERA (VEA LA SECCION DE

LA OPERACION PARA LA LOCALIDAD Y LA

FUNCION DE LOS CONTROLES)

1. Levante la palanca de levantamiento deI ac-

cesorio a su posici6n m&s alta.

2. Suelte el freno de estacionamiento presion-

ando el pedal del embrague/freno.

3. Ponga e[ control de la rueda ]ibre en la

posici6n de giro libre para desenganchar la

transmisi6n. (Vea "PARA TRANSPORTAR"

4. Haga rodar el tractor hacia delante fuera de

Ia corredera.

5. Remueva tas bandas que sujetan la protec-

ci6n contra la descarga en contra del tractor.

presi6n de Ias Ilantas correctas es importante

para obtener el mejor rendimiento en el corte.

• Reduzca Ia presi6n de los neum&ticos a la PSI

que se indica en estos.

REVISI6N DE LA NIVELACION DEL

CON JUNTO

Para obtener los mejoresresultados en el corte, Ia

caja de la segadoratiene que estar nk,eiada en Ia

forma adecuada. Vea "PARA NIVELAR LA CAJA

DE LA SEGADORh;' en ]a secci6n de Servicio y

Ajustes de este manual.

REVISI6N DE LA POSICION ADECUADA

DE TODAS LAS CORREAS

Vea [as figuras que aparecen para cambiar las

correas de impulsi6n de la cuchUla de la sega-

dora y de movimiento en la secci6n de Servicio y

Ajustes de este manual. Verifique que las correas

sigan su paso correcto.

REVISION DEL SISTEMA DE FRENOS

Una vez que usted haya aprendido a manejar su

tractor, verifique que el freno funcione correcta-

mente. Ver "PAPA VERIFICAR SI FUNCIONA

BIEN EL FRENO" en el capftulo de servicio y

ajustes de este manual.

segadora. Aseg0rese que recorran el paso

adecuado alrededor de las poleas y dentro

de todos tos fijadores de las correas.

conexiones todavia est6n seguras y que los

alambres est6n sujetos en forma adecuada.

J" Antes de conducir el tractor, aseg_rese que

el control de rueda libre este en la posici6n

de "transmisi6n enganchada" (Vea "PARA

COMO USAR SU TRACTOR

PARA AJUSTAR EL FRENO DE ESTACIONA-

MIENTO

Su tractor viene equipado con un interruptor sen-

sot que exige ta presenciadel operador. Cuando

el motor est& funcionando, si el operador trat_ de

bajarse del asiento sin primero aplicar el freno de

estasionamiento, se apagard el motor.

1. Presione et pedal (13)deI freno/embrague

completamente y sostengalo.

2. Jale hacia arriba la palanca del freno de

mano (H) y mant_ngala en esa posici6n;

suelte gradualrnente et pedal del embrague/

freno (D). y luego suelte Ia palanca del freno

de mano. El pedal tiene que quedar en la

posici6n de freno. Aseg_rese que el freno

de estac[onamiento va a sujetar et tractor en

forma segura.

AVtSO: No mover et control de aceleraci6n a la

posici6n r_pida antes de parar puede causar que

eLmotor tenga un "pistoneo".

• Gire la ltave de ignici6n (F) a la posici6n de

apagado "STOP" y remueva la llave al aban-

donar et tractor pare evitar el usono autorizado.

IMPORTANTE: Dejando el interruptor de la

ignici6n en cualquier posici6n otra que "STOP'!

causar i que la bateria se descargue (muerta).

AVISO: Bajo ciertas condiciones, cuand0 el

tractor est,. parado con el motor andando en

vacio, los gases de escape del motor caliente

pueden hacer que el c_sped se ponga "cafL,."

Para eliminar esta posibitidad, slempre pare el

motor cuando pareel tractor en &reas con c_sped.

_I=PRECAUCI6N: Siempre pare et tractor com-

pletamente, segtfn se ha descrito anteriormente,

antes de abandonar la posici6n del operador.

PARA USAR EL CONTROL DE LA ACELER-

ACION (D)

Siempre opere el motor a una aceleraci6n

completa.

* Si el motor funciona a unavetocidad inferiora la

m_,xima (r&pida_),su rendimiento disminuye.

* El rendirniento 6primo se obtiene a la veloc[dad

m&xima (r&pida).

• Mueva la control del embrague del accesorio

a la posicibn desenganchado (1"_).

posici6n r&pida.

PARA MOVERSE HACIA ADELANTE Y HACIA

ATRAS

La direcci6n y la velocidad del movimiento son

controladas por medic de la palanca de control

de movimiento (J).

1. Haga arrancar el motor conla palanca de con-

trol de movimiento en la posicibn de neutro.

2. Suelte el freno de estacionamiento.

3. Lentamente, mueva ]a palanca de control de

movimiento a Ia posici6ndeseada.

PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE CORTE DE

LA SEGADORA

Laposici6nde ]a palanca elevadora (A)determina

a qu_ altura se cortar& el c_sped.

AVISO: Ajuste tas ruedas calibradoras con el

tractoren una superlicie nivelada plana.

1. Ajuste la segadora a la attura de corte

deseada con la manilla de ajuste de al-

tura (Vea "PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE

CORTE DE LA SEGADORA" en fa secci6n

de Operaci6n de este manual).

2. Con ia segadora a [a altura deseada para la

posici6n de cone, se tienen que montar las

ruedas calibradoras de modo que queden

un poco sobre el suelo. Instale las ruedas

ca{ibradoras en el agujero adecuado con el

perno con resalto, la arandela de 3/8, y la

tuerca de seguridad de 3/8-16 y apri_telos

en forma segura.

3. Repita el procedimiento para el lado opuesto

instalando la rueda calibradora en el mismo

agujero de ajuste.

• Coloque ta palanca elevadora en _aranura de

la altura deseada.

• Dealice el puntero de seSalizacibn (T) hasta

esa altura, de modo de recordarla la prSxima

vez que cone el c6sped.

La gama de la altura de corte es de aproximada-

mente 25,4 to 101,6 mm (1 a 4 pulgadas). Las

alturas se miden desde el suelo a la punta de ta

cuchilla cuando el motor no est& funcionando.

Estas atturas son aproximadas y pueden variar

dependiendo de las condiciones deI suelo, de la

altura de[ c_sped y del tipo del c_sped que se

est,. segando.

• El c_sped promedio debe cortarse aproxi-

madamente a 63,5 mm (2-1/2 pulgadas)

durante la temporada fria y sobre 76,2 mm

(3 pulgadas) durante los meses calurosos.

Para obtener un c_sped m&s saludable y de

mejor apariencia, siegue a menudo y despu_s

de un crecimiento moderado.

• Para obtener e] rnejor rendimiento de corte, el

c_sped que tiene m&s de 6 pulgadas de altura

debe segarse dosveces. Haga elprimercorte ref-

ativamente alto; el segundo a la altura deseada.

PARA AJUSTAR LAS RUEDAS CALIBRA-

DORAS

Las ruedas calibradoras est&n bien ajustadas

cuando se encuentran un poco a distancia de]

terreno al mismo tiempo que ta segadora est_ a

Ia altura de corte deseada. Entonces las ruedas

calibradoras mantienen el conjunto segador en

posici6n para prevenir et cone raspeo en casi

todos los terrenos.

PARA OPERAR LA SEGADORA

Su tractor viene equipada con un interruptor

sensor que exige la presencia del operador. Si

el motor est_ funcionando y el embrague del ac-

cesorio est,. enganchado y el operador trata de

bajarse del asiento, se apagar& el motor. Tiene

que mantenerse sentado completa y centralmente

en el asiento para impedir que el motor vacile o

se apague cuando se opere su equipo en terreno

disparejo, dspero o en cerros.

t. Elija a qu_ altura cortard el c_sped por medio

de la palanca elevadora.

2. Haga arrancar las cuchiflas de la segadora

enganchando el control del embrague del

accesorio.

PARA PARAR LAS CUCHILLAS DE LASEGA-

DORA

Desenganche el control del embrague del ac-

cesorio.

_,PRECAUCi6N: No opere la segadora sin,

ya sea, el recogedor de c_sped completo en las

segadoras ast equipadas o con la protecci6n

contra la descarga en su Iugar.

FUNCIONAMIENTO ATRA,S

Tu tractor est& equipado con et Sistema de Fun-

cionamientoAtr&s (ROS). Cualquier tentativa del

operadorde viajarmarcha atr&s con eI embrague

puesto apagar& el motor a menos que la flave de

ignici6n se pongaen la posici6nde "ON" del ROS.

ATENCION: Ir rnarcha atr&s con el embrague

puesto para cortar, no es recornendable. Po-

niendo el ROSen posicibn "ON", para permitir el

funcionamiento atr&sconel embrague puesto, se

tiene que hacer s61ocuando el operador Io consi-

dera necesario para reposicionar Ia m&quina con

et dispositivo embragado. No siegue en rev_s a

menos que sea absolutamente neoesario.

USAR EL SlSTEMA DE FUNCIONAMIENTO

ATRAS -

Utilice el tractor solamente si est& seguro de que

no ingresar&n ni6os ni otras personas o animafes

aI &rea donde se va a cortar el c6sped.

1, Mover la palanca de mando del movimiento

en la posiciSn neutro,

2. Con el motor en marcha, girar la tlave del in-

terrupter de la ignici6n en el sentido inverse al

de tas agujas del reloj hasta la posici6n "ON",

3, Mire hacia abajo y hacia atr&s no s6]o antes

de ir marcha atr&_,,sine mientras est@yendo

marcha atr_.s.

4, Mover despac[o la palanca de mando del

movimiento hacia Ia posici6n atr&s (R) para

empezar el mo,Amiento.

5, Cuando el use de! ROSes m&s necesario, d_

vuelta a la Ilave de ignici6n en el sentido de

las agujas deI reloj hasta la posici6n "ON".

PARA OPERAR EN CERROS

_&ADVERTENCtA: No maneje hacia arriba o

15° y no maneje atravesando ninguna pendiente,

Utilice la guia de la pendiente proporcionada en

ta parte pesteriora de este manual.

• Escoja Ia velocidad m&sIenta antes de arran-

car hacia ardba o hacia abajo en certes.

• Evite parar o cambiar la velocidad en certes,

• Si es absolutamente necesarioel parar,empuje

el pedal del embrague/freno rbpidamente a

la posicibn de freno y enganche et freno de

estacionamiento,

° Mueva la palanca de control de movimiento a

Ia posici6n de neutro,

IMPORTANTE: La patanca de control de movi-

miento no vuelve a Ia posici6n de neutro cuando

el pedal del embrague/freno esta presionado,

• Para velvet a empezar con el rnovimiento,

suelte lentamente, el freno de estacionamiento

y el pedal deI embrague/freno.

• Lentamente, mueva la pa[anca de control de

movimiento al ajuste m&s lento.

• Gire siempre Ientamente.

PARA TRANSPORTAR

Cuando empujeo arrastresu tractoraseg_rese de

desenganchar la transmisi6n poniendo el control

de la rueda libre en ta posici6n de marcha de rue-

da libre, El control de marcha de rueda libre esta

situado en la barra de tracci6n trasera deltractor.

1, Levante la palanca de levantarniento del ac-

cesorio a su posici6n m_,s alta,

2. Tire del mando de la rueda fibrehacia afuera

y hacia abajo basra que se coloque en la guia

y su_ltato de rnanera que se mantenga en la

posici6n de desenganchada.

• No empuie o arrastre ei tractor a m&s de 3,2

km/h (2 mph),

- Para volver a accionar la transmisi6n, invierta

este procedimiento.

AVtSO: Para proteger el cap6 contra el daSo

remolcador, aseg_rese que el cap6 est@cerrado

cargas pesadas, cuando este yendo sobre una

pendiente, son petigrosas, 1as llantas pueden

perder su tracci6n con el terreno y pueden oca-

sionar que pierda el control de su tractor,

ANTES DE HACER ARRANCAR EL

MOTOR

REVISE EL NIVEL DE AOEtTE DEL MOTOR

El motor de su tractor se envia de f&brica ya Ilene

con ace_te de peso para verano.

1. Revise el aceite del motor con el tractor en

terreno nivelado,

2, Remueva latapa/vadlla indicadorade nivel de

re_lenodel aceite y limpielas, vuelva a insertar

la variIla indicadorade nivel y atorni|le latapa

hasta que quede apretada, espere per unos

cuantos segundos, remu_vafa y lea el nivet

del aceite, Si es necesario, agregue aceite •

hasta que se haya alcanzado la marca lleno

(FULL) en la varifla indicadora de nivel, No

lo llene demasiado.

• Para la operaci6n en climafrio, debe cambiar

el aceite para pealer arrancar m_,s f&cilmente

(Vea "Tabla de Viscesidad Del Aceite" en la

secci6n de Mantenimento de este manual),

• Para cambiar el aceite del motor, Yeala secci6n

de Mantenimento en este manual.

• Uene ef tanque de combustiblehasta [a parte

inferiordel cuello de relleno.No loliene de m_s.

Use gasolina normal nueva y ]impia con un

minimo de 87 octanos. No mezcle aceite con

gasolina. Compre combustible en cantidades

que se puedan usar en 30 alias para asegurar

]a frescura del combustible.

_bPRECAUCI6N: Umpie el aceite o el com-

bustiblederramado. No afmacene,derrame o use

gasolina cerca de una llama expuesta,

IMPORTANTE: Cuando se opere en temperatu-

ras por debajo de 32°F (0°C) use gasolina de

invierno Iimpia y nueva para auedar a asegurar

un buen arranque en clima frio.

PRECAUCION: Los combustibles mezclados con

alcohol (llamados gasohol o que usan etanol o

metanoI) pueden atraer ta humedad, Io que pro-

voca la separaci6n y formaci6n de _.cidos durante

el almacenamiento. Ei gas &cido puede da_,arel

sistema de combustible de un motor mientras se

encuentra en almacenamiento. Para evitar prob-

lemas con el motor, et sistema de combustible se

debe vaciar antes del almacenamiento durante

30 dias o m&s. Drene el tanque de gasolina, ar-

ranque el motor y h&galo funcionar hasta que las

tuberfas de combustible y del carburador est_n

vacias Use combustible nuevo en fa temporada

siguiente. Consulte Ias Instrucciones de Aima-

cenamiento para obtener informaciOn adicionaL

Nunca use productos Iirnpiadores para motor o

carburador en el tanque de combustible porque

puede provocarda5os irreparables. El estabiliza-

dor de combustible es una atternativa aceptable

para minimizar la formaci6n de dep6sitos de

goma de combustible durante el almac_namiento.

Agregue estabilizador a Ia gasolina en el tanque

de combustible o recipiente de almacenamiento,

Siga siempre la proporci6n de mezcla que se

encuentra en el recipiente deI estabilizador. Deje

funcionar eI motor al menos durante t0 minutos

despu@sde agregar el estabilizador para permitir

que el estabilizadortlegue aI carburador. No vacie

el tanque de gasolina y el carburador si utiliza

estabilizador de combustible.

PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTOR

AI hacer arrancar el motor por la primeravez o si

se ha acabado etcombustible del motor, se necesi-

tar& tiempo para el arranque extra para mover et

combustible desde el estanque hasta ei motor.

1. Si@ntaseen el sill6n en la posici6n de oper-

aci6n, suelte el pedal deI embrague/freno y

ponga el freno de estacionamiento.

2. Ponga la palanca de cambio en la posici6n

de neutro.

3. Mueva el embrague del accesorio a la

posici6n desenganchado.

4. Mueva la palanca de control de la aceleraci6n

a la posici@n de estrangulaciOn.

AVISO: Antes de arrancar, lea las instrucciones

siguientes paraelarranqueen cIimafrio ytemplado.

5. lnserte la Ilave en la ignici6n y gire la Ilave

en el sentido que giran las manillas del reEoj

a la posici6n de arranque start, y suelte ta

Ilave tan pronto como arranque el motor. No-

haga funcionar el arrancador continuamente

por m_.sde quince segundos por minuto. Si el

motor no arranca despu_s de ]ntentarlovarias

veces, mueva el control de la aceleraci6n a la

posici6n de r_pido, espere unos cuantos min-

utos ytrate de nuevo. SI el motor sigue sin fun-

cionar, mueva el control de la aceleraci6n a la

posicibn de estrangulaci6n y intente de nuevo.

ARRANQUE CON TIEMPO TEMPLADO

(50 ° F/10°C y re&s)

6. Cuando arranque eI motor, mueva el control

de la aceleraci6n a la posici6n de r&pido.

, Los accesorios y el embrague ahora pueden

ser utilizados. Si el motor no acepta esta

carga, vuelva a arrancar el motor para per-

mitide que se caliente por un minuto utilizando

el estrangulador como describido arriba.

ARRANQUE CON TIEMPO FRiO

(50 ° F/10"C y menos)

6. AI hater arrancar ef motor, mantenga el

control de la aceleraciOn a la posicibn de es-

trangulaci6n hasta que el motor se caliente y

empieze funcionar mal. Una vez que empieze

a funcionar mat mueva inmediatamente el

control de la aceleraci6n a la posici6nr&pida.

El calentamiento del motor puede tomar a

partir de varios segundos a varios minutos

(cuanto m&s fria es latemperatura, m_.s largo

es el calentamiento}.

Los accesorios pueden set utilizados durante

el periodo del recalentamiento.

PURGAR LA TRANSMISION

PRECAUCION: Nunca enganche o desen-

ganche la palanca de] control de rueda libre

cuando el motor esta funcionando.

Para asegurar ta operaci6n y ejecuci6n adec-

uada, es recomendado que ta transmisi6n sea

purgada antes de operar el tractor para la prim-

era vez. Este proceso remover& cualquier aire

adentro de la transmisi6n que se balla formado

durante el transporte de su tractor.

IMPORTANTE: Si per acaso su transmisi6ndebe

ser removida pare servicio o reemplazo, debe

ser purgada despu_s de la reinstalaci6n y antes

de operar el tractor.

1. Pare mayor seguridad, ubique el tractor en

una superficie nivelada, despejada de cual-

quier objeto y abierta, con e! motor apagado

y el freno de mane puesto,

2. Desenganche la transmisi6n poniendo et

control de rueda libra en Ia posici6n de desen-

ganchado (Vea"PARA ELTRANSPORTE" en

esta secci6n de este manual).

3. Sentado en el asiento de1tractor, empiece

el motor. Despu_s que este corriendo el mo-

tor, mueva el control de estrangulaci6n a ia

posici6n de lento. Con la palanca de rueda [i-

bre en la posici6n de neutral (N),desenganche

Ientamente el embrague/el freno de1 pedal.

&_PRECAUCI6N: En el transcurso dei paso 4,

puede qua de pronto se pongan en movimiento

las ruedas.

4. Mueva la palanca de] control de movimiento

ala posici6n total de adelante y suj_teta du-

rante cinco (5) segundos. Mueva Ia palanca

hacia la posici6n total de marcha atr_ts y

suj_teta durante cinco (5) segundos. Repita

este proceso tres (3) veces.

5. Mueva la palanca del control de movimiento

ala posici6n de neutro (N). Apague el motor

y embrague el freno de estacionamiento.

6. Enganche la transmisi6n poniendo el control

de rued,_libreen la posiciSn de conducir (Vea

"PARATRANSPORTAR" en esta secci6n de]

manual).

7. Sentado en el asiento dei tractor, empiece el

motor. Despu_s que este corriendo el motor,

mueva et control de estrangulaci6n media

(1/2) velocidad. Con la palanca de control de

movimiento a Ia posici6n de neutro (N), len-

tamente desenganche el embrague[e! freno

del pedal.

8. Mueva lentamente Ia patanca de control

de movimiento hacia adelante, despu_s

qua el tractor se mueva aproximadamente

cinco (5) pies (1,5 m), mueva lentamente

con la palanca de centre! de movimiento ala

posici6n contrarie. Despu6s qua el tractor se

mueva apro×imadamente unos cinco (5) pies

(1,5 m) vuetva a poner fa palanca de control

de movimiento en la posici6n de neutro (N).

Repita este procedimiento la palanca de

control de movimiento tres (3) veces.

Su transmisibn esta ahora purgado y dispuesto

para la operacibn normal.

CONSEJOSPARASEGAR

- NO use cadenas de ![anta cuando ia carcasa

de la cortadora de c_sped est6 colocada en el

tractor.

• La segadora debe ester nivelada en forma

adecuada para obtener el major rendimiento

al sager. Vea "PARA NIVELAR LA CAJA DE

LA SEGADORA_' en ]a secci6n de Servicio y

Ajustes de este manual.

• E1fade izquierdo de la segadora se debe usar

pare recorte.

• Maneje de mode qua los recortes se descar-

guen en el _rea que ya ha side cortada. Man-

tenga el _.rea de corte ala derecha del tractor.

Esto producir_, una distribuci6n m_s pareja de

los recortes y un carte m&s uniforme.

• AI segar las &rea grandes, empiece girando a

la derecha de mode qua los recortes se des-

carguen, alej&ndose de ]os arbustos, cercos,

entradas de autom6viles0 etc. Despu_s de una

o dos vueItas, siegue en la direcci6n opuesta,

haciendo vira]es ala izquierda, haste que

• Si el c6sped est& demasiado alto, se debe

segar dos veces pare reducir la carga y los

posibles peligros de incendio debido a los

recortessecos. Haga el primer cone relativa-

mente alto; et segundo a la altura deseada.

• No siegue el c_sped cuando est& mojado. El

c6sped mojado taponar& la segadora y dejar&

montonesindeseables. Permitaque se seque

el c_sped antes de segarlo.

• Siempre opere el motor con una aceleracibn

complete cuando siegue para asegurarse

de conseguir un meier rendimiento y una

descargaapropiadade los materiales. Regute

la vetocidad de recorrido se]eccionando un

cambio losuflcientemente bajo pare obtener un

rendimiento de corte de parte de su segadora

y tambi6n la calidad def corte deseada.

• Cuando opera con accesorios, seleccione una

velocidad de recorrido que se acomode al ter-

reno y le permita obtener el meier rendimiento

del accesorio que se est,. usando.

RECOMENDACIONES GENERALES

La garantia de este tractor no cubre los articu-

los que han estado sujetos al abuso o a ia neg-

ligencia deI operador. Para recibir todo el valor

de la garantia, el operador tiene que mantener

la segadora segt3n las instrucciones descritas

en este manual.

Hay algunos ajustes que se tienen que hacer

en forma periddica para poder mantener su

tractor adecuadamente.

AI menos una vez cada estaci6n comprobar

si es necesario efectuar los adjustes descritos

en las secciones de Servioio y Ajustes de este

manual.

- Una vez al a_o, cambie ]a bujfa, limpie o

carnbie el filtro de aire y revise si (as cuchil-

las y las correas est_n desgastadas. Una bu-

jia nueva y un filtro de aire Iimpio aseguran

una rnezcla de aire-combustib]e adecuada y

le ayudan a que su motor funcione mejor y

que dure mds.

ANTES DE CADA USO

t. Revise el nivel del aceite del motor.

2. Revise [a operaciSn de los frenos.

3. Revise la presiSn de las Uantas.

4. Verifique que el sistema de presencia del

operado y ROS funcionen adecuatarnente,

5. Revise si hay sujetadores sueltos.

IMPORTANTE: No aceite o engrase los puntos

pivotes, los que tienen rodarnientos de nil6n

especiales. Los lubdcantes viscosos atraerdn

poivo y mugre, 1o que acortara la duraciSn de

los rodamientos. Si cree que lubricarse, use

solamente un lubdcante tipo grafito de polvo seco

en forma moderada.

TRACTOR

Siempre observe las reglas de seguridad

cuando dL, mantenimiento.

OPERACION DEL FRENO

Si el tractor necesitam&s de cinco(5) pies (1,5 m)

pare detenerse a la m&_ima velocidad al cambio

m&s alto en una superficie nivelada, de hormig6n

o pavimentada,hay que hacer[e el servicio af

freno. Ver "PARA VERIF]CAR SI FUNCIONA

BIEN EL FRENO" en et capitulo de Servicio y

ajustes de este manual.

LLANTAS

- Mantenga todos los neum&ticos con la

ptesi6n de aire adecuada (Vet la PSi que se

indicaen estos).

• Mantenga las Ilantas sin gasolina, aceite o

substancias qutmicas para control de insee-

tos qua pueden dafiar la goma.

• Evite los tocones, las piedras, las grietas

profundas, los objetos afilados y otros pelig-

ros que pueden dafiar a ]as Ilantas.

AVlSO: Para arregtar las Ilantas perforadas

y p_ra prevenir que tenga Ilantas pinchadas a

causa de pequefias fugas, puede comprar el

sello para ltantas de su comerciante de partes

de repuesto m&s cercano. Elseilo previene que

las Ilantas se s_equeny tambi_n ta corrosi6n.

SISTEMA PRESENCIA OPERADOR Y SISTE-

Asegurarse de qua el sistema de presenoia

• Cuando el motor est& en maroha con el

interrupter de tlave en posici6n de motor

"ON" y el embrague del accesorio conecta-

do, cualquier tentativa deI operador de viajar

mareha atr&s, apagar& el motor.

• Cuando el motor est,. en marcha con el

interrupter de llave de/sistema de funcio-

namiento atr&s (ROS) en la posiei6n "ON" y

el embrague del accesorio conectado, cual-

quier tentativa del operador de vlajar marcha

atrAs, NO apagar& el motor.

CUIDADO DE LA CUCHILLA

Para obterter resultados 6primes, las cuchil-

tas de la cortadora deben estar afiladas.

Reemptace las cuchillas que est6n gastadas,

dobladas o dafadas.

REMOCION DE LA CUCHILLA

1. Levante la segadera a su posJci6nm_s afta

para permitir el acceso alas cuchillas.

AVISO: Proteja sus manes con guantes yio

envuelva la cuchilla con una tela gruesa.

2. Remueva el perno de la cuchilla dandole

vueltas en el sentide inverse al de ]as agu-

jas del reloj.

3. Instale una hoja que sea nueva o se

haya vuelto a afilar, con el lade que tiene

"GRASS SIDE" grabado odentado al suel0.

IMPORTANTE: Para asegurar la instalaciorl

apropiada, posicione el agujero central de la

cuchilla con la estrella dot conjunto del mandril.

4. Instale y apriete el perno de la cuchilla

firmemente (Par 45-55 Ft.-Lbs/62-75 Nm).

BATERIA

Su tractor cuenta con un sistema de carga de

la bater[a qua es suficiente para el use normal

Sin embargo, si se carga la bateria peri6dica-

monte, con un cargador de autombviles, se

prolongar_ su duracibn.

• Mantenga la bateria y los terminales limpios.

- Mantenga los pemos de la bateria apreta-

dos.

- Mantenga los agujeros de ventilaci6n peque-

fios abiertos.

• Vuelva a cargar de 6-10 amperes per 1 hera.

AVISO: La bateria deI equipo original de su

tractor no becesita servicio. No intente abrir o

remover ]as tapas o cubiertas, No esnecesario

aSadir o verificar el nivel de] electr61ito.

PARALtMPIAR LA BATERiAY LOSTERMINA LES

La corrosi6n y la mugre de la bateria y de

los terminales pueden producir "escapes" de

potencia en ]a bateria.

I. Remueva la protecci6n de los terminales.

2. Desconecte el cable de la bater_a NEGRO

primero y luego e] cable de la bateria ROJO

y remueva la bateria del tractor.

3. Enjuague Ia bateria con agua corriente y

s_quela.

4. Umpie los terminales y los extremes deI

cable de la bater{a con un cepillo de afam-

bre hasta que queden bri[Iantes.

5. Cubra los terminales con grasa o parafina.

6. Reinstale la bater|a (Vea "Reemplazar Ia

Batefia" en la secci6n de Servicio y ajustes

de este manual).

CORREAS V

Revise las correas V para verificar si existe

deterioro y desgaste despu6s de I00 horus de

operaci6n y c&mbielas si es necesario. Las cor-

reas no son ajustables. Cambie las correas si

empiezan a deslizarse debido al desgaste.

ENFRIAMIENTO DEL TRANSEJE

Las aletas de enfriamiento y el ventilador de ta

transmisi6ntienen que mantenerse Iimpios para

asegurar el enfriamiento adecu_tdo.

No trate de limpiar el ventilador o la transmisi6n

cuando el motor est_ funcionando o mientras la

transmisi6n est6 caliente.

• Inspeccione el ventilador de enfriamiento para

asegurarse que las aspas del ventilador est_n

intactas y limpias.

* ]nspeccione Ias aletas de enfriamiento para

verificar si hay mugre, recortes de c_sped u

otros materiales. Para impedir dafios a ]as

juntas, no use un rociador de aire compresado

o de alta presi6n para limpiar las aletas de

enfriamiento

NIVEL DEL FLUIDO DE LA BOMBA DEL

TRANSEJE

El transeje ha side sellado en la f&brica y el

mantenimiento deI fluido no es necesario para la

vida del transeje. En el case de que el transeje

se filtrase o necesitase servicio, haga el favor de

ponerse en contacto con un centre de servicio

Sears e con un otro centre de servicio cualificado.

MOTOR

LUBRICACI6N

Use solamente aceite de detergente de atta

calidad clasificado con la clasificaci6n SG-SL de

servicio API, SeIeccione la calidad de viscosidad

del aceite SAE seg_n su temperatura de oper-

aci6n esperada.

AV|SO: A pesar de que los aceites de multivisco-

sidad (5W30, 10W30, etc.) mejoran el arranque

en c]ima fifo, estos aceites de multiviscosidad van

a aumentar el consume de aceite cuando se usan

en temperaturas sobre 32 ° F (0° (3), Revise el

nivet del aceite del motor m&s a menudo, para

evitar un posible daSo en el motor, debide a que

no tiene suf_ciente aceite.

Gamble et aceite despu_s de 50 horus de eper-

PARA CAMBIAR ELACEITE DEL MOTOR

Determine la gama de la temperatura esperada

antes de cambiar el aceite. Todo el aceite debe

cumplir con laclasificaci6n de servicio API SG-SL.

• Aseg_rese que eltractor est6 en una superficie

nivelada.

El aceite se drenarA m&s f&cilmente cuando

est6 caliente.

Recoja el aceite en un envase adecuado.

1, Remueva fa tapa/vadlta indicadora de nivel

para relleno del aceite. Tonga cuidado de no

permitir que la mugre entre en el motor cuando

cambie el aceite.

2, Deslice el accesodo de purga deiaceite desde

la posici6n de ensamblaje en e] alojamiento

de la turbina del motor y sep&relo del motor.

3. Para abrirlo, gire la tapa hacia la izquierda.

4. Una vez que haya vaciado completamente el

aceite, vuelva a colocar la tapa y g_rela hacia

la derecha hasta el tope.

5. Vuelva a fijar el accesorio de purga del aceite

en el alojamiento de la turbina def motor.

6, Vuelva a llenar el motor con aceite a tray, s

del tube de la varilEaindicadora de nivel para

relleno del aceite. Vacielo Ientamente. No ]o

secci6n de este manual.

7. Use un medidor en latapafvaril]aindicadora del

nivel p_a re[leno del aceite para revisar elnivel.

Mantenga el aceite en la ifnea de lleno (FULL)

en lavarillaindicadora de nivel. Apriete latapa

en el tube en forma segura cuando termine.

FILTRO DE ACEITE DEL MOTOR

Cambie el filtro de aceite del motor cada tem-

porada ovez per medic que cambie el aceite, si

el tractor se usa m&s de 100 horas en un aSo.

FILTRO DE AtRE

Su equipo no funcionar_ correctamente si e{

flltro de aire est& sucio. Cada 25 horas de fun-

cionamiento o en cada temporada, reemp[ace

el pre timpiador; y el cartucho donde viene el

papel [service paper cartridge] reempl#,celo cada

100 horas de operaci6n o en cada temporada,

segt3n el memento en el que primero ello sea

necesario.

Lo que oeurre con mayor probabilidad es que el

limpiador del serviciode aire est_ sucio.

1. Quite lacubierta.

2. Con mucho cuidado, quite el cartuchodel fiitro

de aire yet pre limpiador de Ia base.

3. Umpie Ia base con touche cuidado para evitar

que caiga ninguna par_{cula en el carburador.

4. Coloque firmemente en la base el nuevo pre

limpiador y el nuevo cartucho.

5. Cierre la cubierta.

IMPORTANTE: Para limpiar el cartucho no se

pueden usar solventes derivados del petr61eo,

come el kerosene, porque pueden deteriorar el

cartucho. NO engrase el cartucho; ni use aire a

presi6n para Iimpiarlo.

LIMPIEZA DE LA REJILLA DE AIRE

La pantalla de aire est_ sobre e] sopJadorde la

toma de aire que se ubica en la pane superior

del motor, La pantalla de aire se debe mantener

Iibre de suciedad y paja para evitar que el motor

se daSe pot sobrecalentamiento, Limpiecon un

cepillo de alambre o con aire comprimido para

retirar la suciedad y las fibras de goma secas

diflci}esde quitar.

SISTEMA DE ENFRIAMIENTO DE AIRE

Losescombrospueden atascar el sistema de en-

friamiento de aire de motor. Remueva la cubierta

del soplador y I{mpie el &rea mostrada para evitar

el recalentamiento y daSos al motor.

Inspeccione y cambie et silenciador c0rro{do y el

amortiguador de chispas (si viene equipado) pues

pueden crear un peligrode incendio y/o dafios.

BUJ{A(S)

Cambie las bujia(s) al cemienzo de cada tem-

porada de siega o despu_s de cada 100 horas

de operaci6n, Io que suceda primero. El ripe de

buj{a y et ajuste de la abertura aparecen en "ES-

de este manual,

FILTRO DE COMBUSTIBLE EN LINEA

El filtro de combustible debe cambiarse una vez

cada temporada, Si el filtro de combustible se

tapona, obstruyendo el flujo del combustib]e hacia

el carburador, es necesado cambiarlo.

I. Con e] motor #io, rernueva et filtro y tapone

las secciones de la linea de combustible.

2. Ponga el filtro de combustible nuevo en su

posici6n en la ]{nea de combustible con la

flecha seSalando hacia el carburador.

3. Aseg_rese de que no hayan fugas en la

linea del combustible y que las grapas estLm

colocadas en forma adecuada.

4. Inmediatamente limpie toda la gasolina tier-

ramada.

SISTEMA DE DIRECCION, SALPICADERO,

GUARDABARROS Y SEGADORA NO MOSTRADOS

Mantenga las superficies pulidasy las ruedas

sin derrames de gasolina, aceite, etc.

Proteja las superficies pintadas con eera Upo

automotriz.

Excepto por el puerto de lavado (si est& inclui-

do), se recomienda no utilizar una manguera de

jardln ni el Iavado a presi6n para ]impiar fa parte

externa de su tractor, a menos que el motor y la

transmisi6n est_n cubiertos para protegerlos deI

agua. Si entra agua en el motor o la transmisi6n

se reducir__ la vida _til del tractor. Uti}ice aire

comprimido o un soplador de hojas para reUraret

c_sped, las hojas y la basura de Ia parte externa

del tractor y de ]a cortadora de c_sped.

PUERTO DE LAVADO DE LA CUBIERTA

La plataforma del tractor est& equipada con un

puerto de lavado como parte de[ sistema de ta-

vado de la plataforma. Se debe utilizar despu_s

de cada uso.

IMPORTANTE: Tire de la manguera para asegu-

rarse de que la conexibn est& bien fija.

5. Abra la Ilave del agua.

6. Desde la posici6n del operador de[ tractor,

vuelva a arrancar el motor y ponga la palanca

de aceleraci6n en la posici6n "Fast" (r&pido).

IMPORTANTE: Vuelva a revisar el &rea para ase-

gurar que est_ despejada. Aseg_rese de que no

haya niSosen e] &reamientras limpia laplataforma.

7. Mueva el controldel embrague de[ accesodoa

la posici6n "ENGANCHAR". Mant_ngase en la

posici6n del operador con la cubierta de corte

acoplada hasta que la cubierta est_ limpia.

8. Mueva el controldel embrague del accesono a

la posici6n"DESENGANCHADO". Gire la Ilave

de encendido a la posici6n STOP para apagar

el motor del tractor. Cierre la llave del agua.

9. Tire hacia atr&s la abrazadera de cierre del

adaptador de la boquilla para desconectar el

adaptador del puerto de lavado de la cubierta,

10. Lleve el tractor a una zona seca, preferente-

mente de cemento o pavimentada. Mueva el

control del embrague det accesodo a la posici6n

"ENGANCHAR" para quitar el exceso de agua y

ayudara que se seque antes de guardar el tractor.

. Sustituya inmediatamente el accesorio de I

lavado roto o que falta antes de volver a usar I

la segadora. I

Tape todos los orificlos de ia segadora con I

pernos y tuercas de seguridad. !

1. Ueve eltractor a un lugar hodzontal y despejado

de su c_sped, Io bastante cerca de una boca

de riego como para que llegue la manguera del

jardin.

IMPORTANTE: AsegL_rese de que Ia boca de des-

carga del tractor est& odentada LEJOS de su casa,

garaje, coches aparcados, etc. Quite la boca de

ensacado o cubierta de mantillo si est& acopfada.

2. Mueva el control del embrague deI accesorio

a la posici6n "DESENGANCHADO', ponga el

freno de estacionamiento y apague el motor,

3. Enrosque el adaptador de la boquilla (empa-

quetado con el manual del operador del trac-

tor) en el extremo de la manguera del jardin.

4. Eche hacia atr&s ta abrazadera de cierre del

adaptador de la boquilla y empuje 6ste en el

puerto de Iavado de la cubierta en el extremo

izquierdo de la cubierta de fa segadora. Suelte

Ia abrazadera de cierre para fijar el adaptador

en la boquilla.

_, ADVERTENCtA:PARA EVITAR LESE6NES SERIAS, ANTES DE DAR CUALQUIER

SERVICIO O DE HACER AJUSTES:

1. Presione el pedal del embragueflreno completamente y aplique el freno de estacionamiento.

2. Ponga la patanca de control de movimiento en la posici6n de neutro.

8. Ponga el embrague del accesorio en la posici6n desenganchado (DISENGAGED).

4. Ponga la Ilave de ignici6nen la posici6n de apagado (STOP) y remu_vala.

5. AsegQrese que las cuchillas y que todas las partes movibles se hayan detenido completamente.

6. Desconecte el alambre de Ia bujia y p6ngalo en donde no pueda entrar en contacto con _sta.

PARA DESMONTAR LA CORTADORA

DE C_SPED

1. Suelte el embrague poni_,ndoloen la posici6n

"DISENGAGED" ("DESACTIVADO").

2, Baje ta palanca elevadora de montaje a la

posici6nde m,_s abajo.

3. Ruede la correa de polea det motor (M) y

fijadors de la correa (G)o

4. Retire el resorte de sujeci6n (K), deslice Ia

abrazadera _L) hasta quitarla, y saque a

presi6n la guKade la caja (P) basra que se

satga del soporte.

5. Retire el resorte del cable del embrague (Q)

del braze del engranaje (R).

6, Desconeete la pieza de uni6n anterior (E) de

la cort_dora- retire el resorts de contenci6n

y ]a arandela,

7. Per uno de los tados de la cortadora, desco-

necte el braze de suspensi6n de Ia cortadora

(A) del chasis y la pieza de uni6n posterior (C)

de la barra posteriorde la cortadora (D) - re-

tire los resortes de contenci6ny lasarandelas,

CUlDADO: Una vez que se desconecten las

piezas de unibn postedores, fa patanca elevadora

funcionar& a resorte. Sujete con fuerzata pa[anca

elevadora al cambiarla de posici6n.

8. Deslice la cortadora per debajo de! lade

derecho de! tractor.

IMPORTANTE: Si se monta un accesorio dife-

rente del cortac6sped ai tractor, hay que quitar

el estribe frontal (E) y los estribos traseros de

elevaci6n (C) det tractor y enganchar el resorte

de embrague (Q) en la guia del cable en el horde

fron_t del salpicadero m&s bajo.

INSTALE LA SEGADORA

Aseg6rese de que el tractor se encuentre en una

superficie nivelada, y ponga el freno de mane.

1. Haga descender la palanca elevadora a su

_bposici6n m&s baja.

CUIDADO: La palanca elevadora funciona

a resorte. Suj_teta con fuerza, h_.galadescender

lentamente y tr_nqueia en la posici6n m&s baja,

NOTA: Cerci6rese de que los brazes de sus-

pensi6n de los lades de _a segadora (A) est_n

dirigidos hacia adelante antes de deslizada per .

2. Deslice la SEGADORA per debajo deltractor

hastaque quede bien centrada debajo de 6ste.

3, FIJE LOS BRAZES DE SUSPENSION LATE-

RALES DE LA CORTADOP_ (A) ALCHASIS -

Ubique el orificiodel braze encima de la clavija

(B) que hay en la parte exterior del chasis del

tractor, y fijelo con una resorte de contenci6n.

Realice el mismo procedimiento en et otro

lade del tractor,

FIJE LAS PIEZAS DE PROPULSION POS-

TERIORES (C) - Levante la parte posterior

de ]a cortadora, ubique la ranura de la pieza

de uni6n (D) per encima de laclavija qua hay

en la barra posterior de la cortadora y fijela

con unaarandelay un resorte de contenci6n.

9. Retire el resorte de sujeci6n (K), deslice la

abrazadera (L) hasta quitada, y saque a

presiSn ]a gufa de la caja (P) hasta que se

salga del soporte,

10. lnstale la correa pas&ndola per encima de la

polea del motor (M) y fijadors de la ¢orrea

(G).

6. FIJE LA PIEZA DE UNION ANTERIOR (E)

- Trabaje per el Iado izquierdo del tractor,

tntroduzca el extreme de la barra de la pieza

de uni6n per el orifioio anterior de la barra de

suspensi6n anterior del tractor (F}.

7. Introduzca el otro extreme de Ia pieza de

uni6n (E) en el orificio que se encuentra en

la barra anterior de ]a cortadora (H), y fijelo

per medio de una arandela y un resorte de

contenci6n (J).

8. Retire el resorte deI cable del embrague (Q)

det braze deI engranaje (R).

IMPORTANTE: Verifique que la correa encale

bien en todas las ranuras de las poleas de la

cortadora.

11. Suba la palanca elevadora a la posici6n de

m__sarriba.

12. Si es necesario, ajuste las rueditas del calibre

antes de porter en funcionamiento la corta-

dora, come se ilustra en et capitulo de Manejo

de este manual.

PARA NIVELAR LA SEGADORA

Aseg_rese de que los neumdticos est_n inflados

a ia PSt que se indica en estos. Si est&n de°

masiado inflados o poco inflados, el c_sped no

ie quedar& bien cortado, Io cual pedrO,lievarlo a

pensar que ia segadora no est& bien regulada.

REGULACt6N VISUAL DE LADe A LADe

1. Si todos los neum&ticos est&n correctamente

inf_adosy el c_sped parece haber quedado

cortado desparejo, determine qu_ lade de Ia

cortadora est& cortando m_s al ras.

2. Con una lfave inglesade 3/4" o de calibre regu-

lable, haga girar hacia la izqu]erda Ia tuerca

de ajuste de la pieza de uni6n (A) para bajar

lade izquierdola cortadom0 o bien h_.galagirar

hacia lade derecho ]a derecha para subirla.

NOTA: Cada vuelta completa de Ia tuerca de

ajuste har,_variar la altura de la cortadora aproxi-

madamente 4,7 mm (3/16 pulgadas).

3. Pruebe la regulaci6n realizada cortando

c_sped que a_n no haya cortado y observando

c6mo queda, Vuelva a ajustar, en case nece-

sario, hasta obtener resultados satisfactorios.

REGULACI6N DE LA PRECISION DE LADe

A LADe

1. Con redes los neum&ticos correctamente

inflados, estacione el tractor a nivel del suelo

o en la entrada a Ia casa.

•_k CUIDADO: Las cuchillas son afitadas. Prot_-

jase las manes con guantes o envuelva las cuchil-

las con tela gruesa, o bien haga ambas cosas.

2. Suba la segadora a Ia posiciSn m_s a[ta.

3. A ambos lades de Ia cortadora, ubique Ia

cuchilia hacia un lade y mida la distancia (A)

que hay entre el borde inferior de ia cuchiUa

y el suelo. Dicha distancia debe ser Ia misma

a ambos lades.

4. En case que sea necesario realizar un ajuste,

lea de las instrucciones de Regulaci6n visual

que aparecen m&s arriba.

5. Vuelva averificar las medidas yajuste nueva-

mente, en case necesario, hasta que ambos

lades queden iguales.

AJUSTE DE DELANTE A ATR/kS

IMPORTANTE: Ei piso debe quedar bien nive-

]ado de lade a lade.

Para que el c_sped le quede perfectamente cor-

tade, las cuchillasde la cortadora deben ajustarse

de tal manera que la punta anterior quede 3,1 a

12,7 mm (1/8 a 1/2 pu[gadas) m&s abajo que ia

punta posterior cuando la cortadora se encuentre

en su posici6n m&s alta.

CUIDADO: Las cuchilIas son afiladas. Prot_-

jase las manes con guantes o envuelva las cuchil-

las con tela gruesa, o bien haga ambas cosas.

• Suba la segadora a ]aposici6n m&s alta.

• Ubique cua]quiera de las hojas de la cuchiEla

de tat manera que la punta quede apuntando

directamente hacia adelante. Mida la distancia

(B) que hay entre la punta anterior y el suelo y

entre ia punta posterior y el suelo.

• Si la punta anterior de la hoja de ia cuchilla no

est& 3,t a 12,7 mm (1/8 a !/2 pu]gadas) m&s

abaio que la punta posterior, dirijase a la parte

de adelante del tractor.

• Con una Jlave inglesa de 11/16" o de calibre

regutable, afloje la tuerca A, d&ndo{e varias

vueitas para despejar [a tuerca de ajuste B.

- Con una Ilave ajustable de 3/4", gire la tuerca

de ajuste de eslab6n frontal (B) hacia la dere-

cha (F_) (apriete) para elevar et frente de ia

cortadora de c6sped, o hacia la izquierda (__)

(afloje) para baiar el frente de la cortadora_

NOTA: Cada vuelta completa de la tuerca de

• Vuelva a verificar las medidas y ajuste nueva-

mente, en caso necesario, hasta que la punta

anterior de la hoja de la cuchiltaquede 3,1 a

I2,7 ram (t/8 a 1/2 pulgadas) m&s abajo que

la punta posterior,

• Mantenga en la posici6n la tuerca de ajuste

pot medio de una liave inglesa, y apriete bien

la tuerca contra dicha tuerca de ajuste.

PARA CAMBIAR LA CORREA DE IMPULSION

DE LA CUCHILLA SEGADORA

La correa de impulsibn de la cuchilla segadora

se puede cambiar sin herramientas, Estacione el

tractor en una superficie hive]aria. Enganche el

freno de estacionamiento.

REMOCION DE LA CORREA -

1. Rein ueva la segadora del tractor (Vea "PARA

REMOVER LA SEGADOR_' de esta secci6n

de este manual).

2, Haga salir la correa de las poleas del mandril

y de las poleas de guia,

3. Tire la correa alei#mdola de la segadora,

INSTALACION DE LA CORREA

1. Haga rodar la correa alredeor de ambas

poleas del manddn y de las poleas-guias,

2. Asegt_rese las correas esten en todas las

ranuras de las peleas y al interior todas las

gutas de la correa.

3, lnstalela segadora (v6a" PARA INSTALAR LA

SEGADORA"en esta secci6n de este manual).

DESMONTAJE DE LA CORREA

1. Desmonte la cortadera (Ver"PARA DESMON-

TAR LA CORTADOR_' en este capitu[o del

manual),

NOTE: Observe toda la correa de transmisi6n y la

posici6n de todas Ias guias y guardacorreas.

2, Retire Ia correa deI pi56n estacionado (A) y

del pi56n de embrague (B),

3. Retire la correa del pi56n central (C).

6. Jale el cable de la correa hacia la parte de

atr&s del tractor. Con mucho cuidado, retire

ta correa de Ia polea de entrada de Ia trans-

misi6n, movi6ndola hacia arriba y pas&ndola

pot encima de las paletas del ventilador (D),

4, Retire Ia correa de Ia polea del motor movi_-

ndola hacia abajo (E),

5. Deslice la correa hacia Ia parte de atr&s del

tractor, ret|rela de la placa de direcci6n (F) y

quitela deI tractor,

MONTAJE DE LA CORREA

I. Instale la correa nueva de la parte de atr&s

a ta parte de adelante del tractor, pas&ndola

pot encima de la placa de direccibn (F) y del

v&stago del pedal del embrague/freno ((3),

2. Jale la correa hacia la parte de adelante del

tractor y p_selo por sobre la poleadel motor (E),

3. Jale la correa hacia la parte de atr&s del

tractor. Con mucho cuidado, mueva Ia correa

hacia abajo y p&sela alrededor del ventilador

de transmisi6n y por encima de la polea de

entrada (D), Cerci6rese de que la correa

est_ calzada dentro del guardacorrea.

4. Coloque la c0rrea sobre el pi66n central (C).

5. Pase la correa a tray, s del pi56n estacionario

(A) y del p]fi6n del embrague (B),

6. AsegSrese de que la correa calce en todas

las ranuras de las poleas y dentro de todas

las guias y guardacorreas_

5. lnstale la SEGADORA (Ver "PARA MONTAR

LA SEGADORA" en este capitulo del manual).

VERIFIQUE EL FRENO

Si el tractor exige m_s de 1,5 m (cinco (5) pies)

para pararse a una velocidad m_,s alta en el

cambio m&s alto en una superficie nivelada de

hormig6n seco o pavimentada, entonces se debe

controlar y ajustar el frene,

CONTROL DEL FRENO

1. Aparcar el tractor en una superficie nivelada

de hormig6n seco o pavimentada, presionar

el pedal del freno hasta et rondo y accionar

el freno de estacionamiento.

2, Desembragar ta transmisibn colocando e[

mando de la rueda libre en la posici6n"trans-

rnisi6n desembragada". Tirar el mando de la

rueda libra fuera y dentro la ranura y soltar

asi se coloca en la posicibn desembragada,

Las ruedas traseras tiene que bloquearse y pa-

tinar cuando se intenta empujar hacia adelante

et tractor manualmente, Sustituir las zapatas del

freno o contactar con Seers o con un otro centro

de servicio cualificado.

PAPA REMOVER LAS RUEDAS

t. Bloquee el eje en forma segura.

2. Remueva ta cubiertadel eje, elanillo de reten-

ci6n y las arandelas para permitir la remoci6n

de las ruedas (Ia rueda trasera contiene una

llave cuadrada - no Ia pierda).

3. Repare Ia Ilanta y vu_tvala a montar.

AVISO: En las ruedas traseras solamente: alinee

]as ranuras en el oubo de la rueda trasera en el

eje. lnserte la llave cuadrada.

4. Vuelva a colocar las arandelas e inserte el

anitlo de retenci6n en forma segura en la

ranura del eje.

5. Vuelva a coloear ]a cubierta det eje.

AVISO: Para arreglar 1as llantas perforadas

y p_ra prevenir que tenga llantas pinchadas a

causa de pequeSas fugas, comprar de su com-

merciante Sears y uUlizarel sello para Ilantas.

Elsello previene que las Ilantas se sequen y

tambi_n la corrosi6n.

IMPRESION / INCLINACI6N DE LAS RUEDAS

DELANTERAS

La impresi6n e inclinaci6n de las ruedas delan-

teras de su nuevo tractor vienen asi de f_.brica y

son no[males. La impresi6n y la inclinaci6n de las

ruedas delanteras no son regulables. En caso

que se produzca alg_n daSo que afecte ta im-

presi6n o la inefinaci6n de Ias ruedas delanteras

taf como virile[on de f&brica, p6ngase en contacto

con un centro de servicios Sears u otto centre de

serviciosautorizado.

REGU LACI6N DE LA PALANCA DE_CONTROL

DEL MOVIMIENTO NEUTRO DEL CAMBIO

MEC/_,NICO

La palanca de control deI movimiento del cam-

bio mec&nico ya viene predefinida por ta Casa

constructora y por Io tanto no requiere ulteriores

regulaciones,

1. Aflojar ligeramente el perno de regulaci6n en

la parte anterior de la rueda posterior derecha;

2. Pone[ en marcha el motor y mover la patanca

de control del movimiento del cambiomec&ni-

co hasta Ilevarla en una posici6n en Ia que no

se pueda mover ni adelante ni atr_.s;

3, Mantener la palanca de control del movi-

miento de] cambio mecdnico en esta posici6n

y apagar el motor;

4. Manteniendo la palanca en la posici6n arriba

indicada, aflojar el perno de regulaci6n;

5. Mover Ia palanca de conl_ol del movimiento

en posici6n neutro (cierre metdlico);

6. Enroscar bien el pemo de regulaci6n,

AVISO: Desplazar el piano de trabajo de la sega-

dora hasta Is posici6n mds baja para aumentar el

juego al fin de acceder al perno de regulaci6n.

Si el tractor sigue desliz&ndose adelante y arras,

despu6s de esta regulaci6n y con la palanca en

posici6n neutro, efectuar las operaciones indica-

das de seguida.

1. Aflojar el perno de regulaci6n.

2. Mover la palanca de control del movimiento de

1/4 o 1/2 pulgaren [a direcci6n de deslizamiento.

3. Enroscar bien el perno de regulaci6n.

4. Poner en marcha el motor y probarlo.

5. Si el tractor sigue destizando, repetir las

operaciones ardba indicadas hasta alcanzar

los resultados deseados.

PARA HACER ARPANCAR EL MOTOR CON

UNA BATERiA BAJA

_vADVERTENCIA: Las baterlas de _eido-ptomo

generan gases explosivos, Mantenga tas chispas,

las llamas y los materiales para fumar alejados de

las baterias. Siempre use una protecci6n para los

ojos alrededor de las baterias.Si su bateria est_

demasiado baja come para hacer arrancar el mo-

tor tiene que volverse a cargar. (Vea "Bateda" en

la seccion de Mantenimlento de este manual).

Si se usan "cables de empalme" para un arranque

de emergencia, siga este procedimiento:

IMPORTANTE: Su tractor esta equipado con un

sistema de 12 volts. El otro vehiculo tambi6n tiene

que tener un sistema de 12 volts. No use la bateria

de sutractor para hacer arrancar aotros vehiculos.

PARA ADJUI'.rI'AR LOS CABLES DE EMPALME-

1. Conec-te cada extremo del cabte ROJO con

el terminal (A-B) POSITIVO (+) de cada

bateria, preocup&ndose de no hacer corto_

circuito en el chasis.

2. Conecte un extremo del cable NEGRO

con el terminal (C) NEGATIVO (-) de una

bateria completamente cargada,

3. Conecte el otro extremo del cable (D) NE-

GRO con un buena CONEXION A TIERRA

OEL CHASIS, alejado del estanque de

combustible y de la bateria,

PARA REMOVER LOS CABLES, INVIERTA EL

ORDEN

!. E1cable NEGRO primero del chasis y luego

de la bateria completamente cargada.

2. El cable ROJO al _ltimo de ambas baterlae.

REEMPLAZAR LA BATERIA

_ADVERTENCIA; No hagacortocircuitoconlos

terminales de la baterla al permitir que una Have

detuerca ocualquierotro objetoentre en contacto

con ambos terminales a la misma vez. Antes de

instaiar la bater[a remueva laspulseras de metal,

los relojes de pulsera de metal, los anillos, etc.

Elterminal positivetiene que conectarse primero

para evitar las chispas debido a la conexi6n a

tierra per accidente.

I. Levante eI asiento a la posici6n elevada.

2. Remueve la proteccibn de los terminafes.

3. Desconecte el cable de Ia bateria NEGRO

primero y luego el cable de la bateria ROJO

y remueva la bateria deI tractor.

4. lnstale la nueva bateria con los t_rminos en

misma posici6n come la bateria vieja.

5. Reemplazamos cubierta terminal.

6. Pdmero, conecte el cable de la bateria ROJO

con el terminal positive (+) con el perno

hexagonal y [a tuerca seg_n se muestra.

Apri_telos en forma segura.

7. Conec_eel cable de conexiSn atierra NEGRO

aI terminal negative (-) con e] perno hexagonal

y la tuerca que queden. Apri_telos en forma

segura.

8. Cerramosla asiento.

ENTRECIERRE Y RELES

El alambrado suelto o daSado puede producir el

mal funcionamiento de su tractor, o que deje de

funcionar, o le impida el arrancar.

° Revise el alambrado.

PARA CAMBIAR LA BOMBILLA DE LA LUZ

DELANTERA

1. Levante el capota.

2. Tire el sujetador de la bombilla fuera del

agujero on Ia parte trasera deI enrejado.

3. Cambie la bombilta en el sujetador y empuje

el sujetador de ta bombilia, en forma segura,

hacia atr_.sen el agujero en la parte trasera

del enrejado.

4. Cierre el capota.

PAPA CAMBIAR EL FUSIBLE

C_mbielo per un fusible tipo enchufable de 30

amps, tipo automotriz. El sujetador del fusible

est& ubicado detrAs deI tab[ere.

TRANSMISiON

REMOCION/REEMPLAZO DE LA

TRANSMISION

Si por acaso su transmisi6n debe set removida

para servicio o reemplazo, debe ser purgada

despu_s de la reinstalaci6n y antes de operar el

tractor. Vea"PURGAR LATRANSMISION" en la

secci6n de la Operaci6n de este manual,

MOTOR

PAPA AJUSTAR EL CABLE DE CONTROL DE

LA ACELERACION

El control de la aceleraci6n ha side preajustadoen

la f&brica y no deberia necesitar ajustes, Revise

los ajustes que se describen a continuaci6n, antes

de sottar el cable. Si e] ajuste es necesario, vea

de manual de motor.

PAPA AJUSTAR EL CONTROL DE

ESTRANGULACi6N

El control de ta estrangulaci6n ha sido preajusta-

do en la fdbrica y no deberia necesitar ajustes;

tnmediatamente prepare su tractor para el al-

macenamiento al final de la ternporada o si el

tractor no se vaa usar per 30 dins o m&s.

4_I_DVERTENCIA: Nunca almacene el tractor

con gasolina en el estanque dentro de un edificio

en donde los gases pueden alcanzar una llama

expuesta o una chispa. Permita que el motor se

enfrie antes de almacenarlo en cualquier recinto

privado.

TRACTOR

Cuando el tractor se vaa almacenar per cierto

periodo de tiempo, Iirnpieta cuidadosamente,

quite toda }a mugre, }a grasa, las hojas, etc.

Gu&rdeta en una &rea limpia y seca.

1. Utopia todo e! tractor (vea "LIMPtEZ-_' en la

secci6n de Mantenimiento en este manual).

2. lnspeccione y cambie Ins correas, si es nec-

esario (yea ins instruccionespara el cambio

de las correas en la seccidn de Servicio y

Ajustes de este manual).

3. Lubriquelo, segdn se muestra en la secciSn

de Mantenimiento de este manual

4. Asegdrese que todas Instuercas, los pernos y

los tornitlos est_n sujetados en forma segura.

Inspeccione Inspartes movibles para verificar

si hay da6o, rotura o desgaste. C_mbielas si

es necesario.

5. Retoquetodas superficies pintadas oxidadas

o picadas; aplique Ilia antes de pintar.

BATERiA

o Gargue la bateria ¢ornpletamente antes de

guardarla.

• Despu_s de cierto periodo de tiempo en

aimacenamiento, la bater{a puede necesitar

velvet a cargarse.

• Para ayudar a evitar la corrosi6n y las fugas

de potencia durante largos periodos de alrna-

cenarniento, se deben desconectar Loscables

de la bateria y se debe limpiar cuidadosamen-

te (yea "PARA LIMPIAR LA BATERIA Y LOS

TERMINALES" en Ia secciSn de Mantenimien-

tode este manual).

• Despu6s de limpiarla, deje los cables

desconectados y p6ngalos en donde no

puedan entrar en contacto con los terrninales

de la bateda.

o Si se remueve la bateria del tractor para el

almacenamiento, no la guarde directamente

sobre concrete e sobre superficies h_medas.

MOTOR

SISTEMA DE COMBUSTIBLE

IMPORTANTE: Es importantevitar qua se for-

man depositos de goma en partes fundamen-

tales deI sistema de combus-tible tales come el

carburador, el filtro del combustible, la manguera

deI combustibles rnezclados con alcohol

(conocido come gasohol o qua tienen etanoI o

metanol) pueden atraer humedad, Io que con-

duce a la separaci6n y a [a formaciSn de acudos

durante elalmacenarniento. La gaso[ina acidica

puede daSar el sistema de combustible de un

motor durante e] periodo de almacenam{ento.

• Vaciar el dep6sito del carburante poniendoen

marcha el motor y dej_,ndolo funcionar hasta

que el carburante termine el carburador est_

vacio.

• Nunca use los productos para lirnpieza del

carburador o del motor en el estanque de

combustibte pues se pueden producir daSos

permanentes.

• Use combustible nuevo la pr6xirna

temporada.

AVISO: Et estabilizador de combustible es una

alternativa aceptable para reducir aun minimo

la formaci6n de dep6sitos de goma en el com-

bustible durante el periodo de almacenamiento.

Agregue estabiUzador a la gasolina en el es-

tanque de combustible o en el envase para et

almacenamiento. Siempre sign la proporci6n de

mezcla qua se encuentra en el envase det esta-

bilizador. Haga funcionar el motor per 1omenos

10 minutes despu_s de agregar el estabilizactor,

para permitir que _ste llegue al carburador. No

vaciar la gasolina del estanque de gasolina y el

carburador si se est& usando estabilizador de

combustible.

AOEITE DEL MOTOR

Drene el aceite (con el motor caliente) y c&mbielo

con aceite de motor limpio. (Vea "MOTOR" en la

secci6n de Mantenimiento ° de este manual.)

CILINDRO(S)

1. Rernueva la(s) bujia(s).

2. Vacie una onza de aeeite a tray,s del

agujero(s) de la bujia en et cilindro(s).

3. Gire la I]ave de ignici6na ta posici6n de 'mr-

ranque" (Start), per unos cuantos segundos

para distribuir et aceite.

4. Cambie per bujia(s) nueva(s).

OTROS

• No guarde la gasolina de una temporada a la

otra.

• Cambie el envase de la gasolina si se emp-

ieza a exidar. La oxidaci6n yio ta mugre en su

gasolina producir&n problemas.

• Si es posible, guarde su unidad en un recinio

cerrado y cdbrata para protegeda contra el

polvo y la mugre.

• Cubra su unidad con un forte protector ad-

ecuado que no retenga la hurnedad. No use

pl&stico. E1pl&stico no puede respirar, lo que

permite la formaci6n de condensaci6n, Io que

producir& la oxidaci6n de su unidad.

|MPORTANTE: Nunca cubra el tractor rnientras

el motor y las areas de escape todavia estan

calientes.

arrancar,

4. Cambte la bulls.

5. Limpieicambie el filtro de airs,

6, Cambie el filtro de combustible.

7. Vaciar el estanque de combustible y el

carburador, vuelva a llenar el estanque

con gasolina nueva cambie el filtro de

combustible,

8. Revise todo el alambrado,
