12. Throttle Control Cable Adjustment
Never attempt to change maximum engine speed. This is
preset at the factory and should only be changed by a
qualified service technician who has the necessary
equipment, CAUTION: BEFORE ANY ENGINE ADJUST-
MENT, MAKESUREAIR CLEANER ISCLEAN RemoveAir
Cleaner Assembly, while making adjustments.
c, With throttle control lever' in "FAST" positiorl, turn
high speed mixture screw counterclockwise ( /F-._)
until engine runs "rough"then turn clockwise (,,'--'_)
until engine begins to miss. Tum screw to a point
midway between these positions.
d. With throttle control lever in "SLOW"position, hold
throttle lever so that idle stop screw is against carbu-
retor; turn idle mixture Screw counterclockwise (r-,,)
until engine runs "rough" and then turn clockwise
until engine begins to die° Turn idle mixture screw
to a point midway between these positions.
e_ With throttle control lever in "SLOW"position, engine
should idle at 1750 RPM. If engine idles too slow,
push throttle control lever above idle and turn idle
speed screw one turn clockwise (,F_), Set throttle
control lever at "SLOV¢" Repeat until satisfactory
idle is attained.
f, If engine idles too fast with throttle control lever in
"SLOW" position push throttle control lever above
idle and turn idle speed screw one turn counterclock-
wise ( f-'_ ). Set throttle control lever at "SLOW",
Repeat until satisfactory idle is attained,

a, With engine off, place Throttle Control in "FAST"
position.
b. Loosen Clamp Screw (Fig. 18)_ Adjust Throttle
Cable until holes "A" are aligned in go vetoer control
plate and slide plate,
c. Tighten clamp screw.
13. Carburetor Adjustment
NOTE: ADJUST THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE BEFORE
MAKING ANY ADJUSTMENT TO CARBURETOR.
a. With engine off turn high speed mixture screw clock-
wise ( ,F_ ) closing finger tight ONL Y, and turn
counterclockwise (,_-_) I-1/2 turns (Fig. 18)

14. Replace Spark Plug
Replace spark plug at the beginning of each mowing season
or every 100 hours, whichever comes firsL Gap should be set
