Motor
Be sure your power supply agrees with the nameplate
marking. Voltage decrease of more than 10% will cause loss
of power and overheating.

Intended Use
Your heavy-duty small angle grinder has been designed for
professional grinding, sanding and cut-off applications at
various work sites (i.e., constructionsites).
DO NOT use under wet conditions or in presence of
flammable liquids orgases.
Your heavy-duty small angle grinders is a professional
power tool.
DO NOT let children come into contact with the tool.
Supervision is required when inexperienced operators use
thistool.
ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENTS
WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal
injury, turn unit off and disconnect it from
power source before making any adjustments or
removing/installing attachments or accessories.
An accidental start-up can causeinjury.
Accessories
The capacity of the DWE4120FN is 5" (125mm) diameter x
1/4” (6.35 mm) thick grindingwheels.
It is important to choose the correct guards, backing
pads and flanges to use with grinder accessories. Refer
to Accessories Chart for information on choosing the
correctaccessories.
WARNING: Handle and store all abrasive wheels
carefully to prevent damage from thermal shock, heat,
mechanical damage, etc. Store in a dry protected area
free from high humidity, freezing temperatures or
extreme temperaturechanges.
Attaching Side Handle (Fig.B)
WARNING: Before using the tool, check that the
handle is tightenedsecurely.
Screw the side handle adapter

into one of the holes on
either side of the gear case, then screw the side handle

into the adapter. The adapter MUST be used together
with the side handle. If the adapter is missing, stop using
the tool, find a nearest
DEWALT
service center for a new
adapter. The side handle should always be used to maintain
control of the tool at alltimes.

Rotating the Gear Case (Fig. C)
To improve user comfort, the gear case will rotate 90° for
cuttingoperations.
1. Remove the four corner screws attaching the gear case
to motorhousing.
2. Without separating the gear case from motor housing,
rotate the gear case head to desiredposition.

NOTE: If the gear case and motor housing become
separated by more than 1/8" (3.0 mm), the tool must
be serviced and re-assembled by a
DEWALT
service
center. Failure to have the tool serviced may motor and
bearingfailure.
3. Reinstall screws to attach the gear case to the
motor housing. Tighten screws to 18 in.-lbs. torque.
Overtightening could cause screws tostrip.
