Inspecting the Rear Brake
Pedal Freeplay
1.
Place your vehicle on its center stand on a
firm, level surface.
2.
Confirm that the gap between the rear
brake arm and rear brake arm pin for rear
brake lock.

If there is no gap, adjust the Brake
Lever/Pedal Freeplay. 2 P. 66
3.
Measure the distance the rear brake pedal
moves before the brake takes hold.
Freeplay at the tip of the brake pedal:
13/16 - 1 3/16 in (20 - 30 mm)
Check the brake cable for kinks or signs of
wear. If necessary, have it replaced by your
dealer.
Lubricate the brake cable with a commercially
available cable lubricant to prevent premature
wear and corrosion.
Make sure the brake arm, spring and fastener
are in good condition.
