TO ADJUST THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE
(See Fig. 29)
The throttle control has been preset at the factory and
adjustmentshouldnotbe necessary. Check adjustment as
described below before loosening cable, if adjustment is
necessary, proceed as follows:
o With engine not running, move throttle control lever
from stow (,_) to choke (N) position. Slowly move
lever from choke (N) to fa_;t(,_) pbsition.
o Checkthat holes"A" in govemorcontrollever and hole
in governorplate line-up. If holes "A" are not aligned,
loosenclamp screw and movethrottlecable untilholes
are aligned. Tighten clamp screw securely.
FINAL SETTING -
Start engine and allow to warm for five minutes. Make
final adjustments with engine running and shift/motion
control lever in neutral (N) position.
° Move thro_le control lever to slow (,_!) position, With
ringer, ro[azeand hold throttle lever.against idle speed
screw. Turn idle speed screw to attain 1750 RPM.
° While still holding throttle lever against idle speed
screw, tum idle mixture valve in (clockwise) untlf en,,
gine begins to die and then tum out (counterclockwise)
until engine runs rough. Turn valve to a point midway
.between those two positions. Release throttle lever°

TO ADJUST CARBURETOR (See Fig. 30)
The carburetor has been preset at the factory and adjust-
ment should not be necessary. However, minor adjust-
ment may be requiredto compensatefor differencesinfuel,
temperature, altitudeor load. If the carburetor does need
adjustment, proceed as follows:
In general, turning idle mixture valve in (clockwise)de-
creasesthe supplyoffuel tothe engine givinga leaner fuel/
air mixture. Tuming the idle mixture valve out (counter-
clockwise) increasesthe supplyof fuel to the engine giving
a richerfuel/air mixbJre.
IMPORTANT: DAMAGE TO THE NEEDLE VALVE AND
THE SEAT IN CARBURETOR MAY RESULT 1FSCREW IS
TURNED IN TOO TIGHT.
PRELIMINARY SETTING -
o Aircleaner assernblymust be assembled to the carbu.
retor when making carburetoradjustments.
° Be sure the throttle controlcable is adjusted properly
(see above).
° With engine off turn idle mixture valve in (clockwise)
closing itfinger tight and then turn out (counterclock-
wise) 1 full turn.
Move throttle control lever from slow (-_!) to fast (,_)
position. If engine hesitates or dies, turn idle mixture
valve out (counterclockwise)118turn. Repeat testand
continue to adjust, if necessary, until engine acceler-
ates smoothly.
High speed stop is factory adjusted. Do not adjust -
damage may result.
IMPORTANT: NEVER TAMPER WITH THE ENGINE
GOVERNOR, WHICH IS FACTORY SET FOR PROPER
ENGINE SPEED_ OVERSPEEDING THE ENGINE ABOVE
THE FACTORY HIGH SPEED SETTING CAN BE
DANGEROUS. IF YOU THINK THE ENGINE-GOVERNED
HIGH SPEED NEEDS ADJUSTING, CONTACT YOUR
NEAREST AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER/
DEPARTMENT, WHICH HAS PROPER EQUIPMENT AND
EXPERIENCE TO MAKE ANY NECESSARY
