Getting started
This will get rid of any chemical residue left
on the unit as a result of the manufacturing
process. Don’t use soap however, as this
may interfere with the coffee’s fl avor.
Ground Coffee — Look for coffee ground
specifi cally for Moka pots. A simple search
for ‘Moka Ground Coffee’ will return some
good results.
Coffee Beans — Grinding coffee beans fresh
before use gives you the best results. You
should look to grind your coffee ‘medium
fi ne’, just slightly coarser than the consistency
of table salt. This is coarser than espresso
grind, which is a similar consistency to fl our.
Building up a thin layer of coffee oils on the
inside of your unit will seal the stainless
steel surface, and should prevent you
from experiencing a metallic taste that is
commonly associated with a new unit.
2. Get your
coffee ready
1. Wash all
parts in warm
(not soapy) water
3. Throw away
your fi rst 1–2 brews
