Problem solving guide

Problem Cause and remedy
There is so much ice
build-up in the freezer
section that it no longer
defrosts automatically.
The freezer section door was left open for a very long
time.
Remove the frozen food and wrap it in several lay-
ers of newspaper or cloths.
Store the frozen food in a cool place until the
freezer is ready for use again.
Switch the refrigeration appliance off and move it
away from the wall.
Open the freezer section door.
After approx. 20minutes, the defrosted water will
start to run into the evaporation tray on the back of
the appliance.
Use a sponge or towel to soak up the defrosted wa-
ter from time to time.
The process is finished when the water stops running
into the evaporation tray.
Clean the freezer section and switch the refrigera-
tion appliance back on.
The door to the freezer
will not open because it
has been opened and
closed too many times
in succession.
This is not a fault. The suction caused by opening
and closing the door is preventing the door from
opening. Wait approx. 1minute and then try again.
It should now open without force.
There was a power fail-
ure.
The temperature in the refrigeration appliance rises
during a power failure. The storage time is reduced
and the quality of your food is impaired.
Keep the refrigeration appliance closed during a
power failure if possible and do not store any more
food inside it.
Check the quality of the food after the power fail-
ure.
Depending on the temperature displayed, you
should check whether food in the freezer has star-
ted to thaw or has defrosted. If it has, it should be
used as soon as possible. Defrosted food may
only be re-frozen after it has been cooked.
If in doubt, dispose of food that has defrosted.
