e. Push the ON/OFF button and turn the selector dial to the left, cup ( ) position.
Allow 1/3 to 1/2 of the solution to be pumped through the system and the brew
head.
NOTE: There is no need to wait for the blue indicator light to illuminate.
f. Turn the selector dial to the center ( ) position to stop the process.
g. Let the machine sit for approximately 10 minutes.
Decalcifying the Frothing Wand
h. Fill a pitcher with 6 to 8 oz. of cold water and immerse the frothing wand
into the cold water.
i. Ensure the Coee/Steam indicator is illuminated in white for steaming/frothing
function. Turn the selector dial to the right, steam/frothing ( ) position and let
steam pass through for about 30 seconds. Repeat this process three or four times.
j. Now process the remaining decalcifying solution through the brew head by
pressing the Coee/Steam button until illuminated blue and turn the selector dial to
the left, cup symbol ( ) until all decalcifying solution has been emptied from the
water tank.
Rinsing the System
k. Remove the water tank and rinse thoroughly, then ll with fresh cold water.
l. Repeat above steps (d through j ) with fresh cold water.
m. Replace screen in the brew head and tighten the screw securely.
12. Troubleshooting:
Symptom Cause Corrections
Water leaks from the
bottom of the espresso
machine.
There is too much water in
the drip tray.
The coee maker has
possible internal defect.
Clean and dry the drip tray
and replace.

Coee runs down the
side of the portalter.
Portalter not properly
inserted.
Edge of sieve not free of
ground coee.
Sealing ring inside brew
head is dirty.
Sealing ring no longer has
elasticity.
Turn the handle of the
portalter farther to the
right.
Turn OFF the appliance,
remove the portalter and
clean the edges of the
sieve.
Turn OFF the appliance,
remove the portalter and
brew head screen and
clean sealing ring with a
hot damp cloth. CAUTION!
HOT!
Sealing ring must be
replaced. Please
contact Capresso
Customer Service.
Very little or no coee
ows through the
portalter
No water in water tank.
The screen inside the brew
head is blocked.
The sieve is blocked.
Fill water tank with fresh,
cold water.
Brew water through the
screen without the
portalter inserted. If no
water comes through,
unscrew the screen and
clean and replace. See
chapter 10,h.
Clean the sieve, insert into
the portalter and pump
water through without
coee. If no water comes
through the sieve call

Service for a replacement
sieve.
