Rice
Rice swells when cooked and needs to
be cooked in liquid. The proportion of
rice to liquid will vary depending on the
type of rice.
The rice absorbs all the liquid during the
cooking process so that none of the
nutrients are lost.
Cooking container
Use a solid cooking container. Smaller
quantities of rice (up to one cup,
approx. 50-150 g) can alternatively be
cooked in a suitable stainless steel
bowl on the rack.
Preparation
Wash the rice before cooking. If you
wash the rice in the cooking container,
drain the water off carefully afterwards.
Useful tip: The required volume of
liquid can be determined using scales
or the "cup" method.
For the "cup method", first fill the
desired amount of rice into a cup and
then put the rice into the cooking
container. Then measure the required
volume of liquid (see chart) with the cup
and add it to the rice.
Make sure that the rice is evenly
distributed in the cooking container.
