• Changingof engine-governedspeedwill voidenginewarranty.
• Alladjustmentsshouldbe checkedat leastonceeach season.
• Periodicallycheckall fastenersandmakesurethesearetight.
ENGINE MAINTENANCE
Spark Plug
Forgoodperformance,the spark plug mustbe properlygappedand
freeof deposits.Replacethe sparkplugannually.
1. Disconnectthe cap fromthe sparkplug,andremoveanydirt from
the sparkplug area.
2. Use the propersizesparkplugwrenchto removethe sparkplug.
NOTE: Replacewith a Champion®RJ19HJsparkplug.
3. Checkthegap with a wire gauge.See Figure15.Sparkplug gap
shouldbe0.030in (0.76ram). If necessary,resetthe gap.
4. install and tightenthe sparkplugto the recommendedtorque(180
Ib-in[20 Nm]).
5. Attachthe sparkplugcapto thesparkplug.
Air Cleaner
A dirtyaircleanerwill restrictair flow to the carburetorand causepoor
engineperformance,inspectthe filter eachtime theengineis oper-
ated.Youwill needto cleanthe filter morefrequentlyif youoperatethe
enginein verydusty areas.
Cleantheair cleanerevery 25 hoursof operationor once a season.
Replacetheaircleanerannually.

1. Loosenscrewandtilt plastichousingcoveron sideof engine
down.SeeFigure16.
2. Removeairfilterfromplastichousingcover.
3. Toloosendebris,gentlytap the filter on a hard surface,if the filter
is excessivelydirty, replacewith a newfilter.
4. insert cover'stabsinto slotsin bottomof base.
5. Tilt cover up into placeand tighten screw.
