CONNECTING ELECTRIC DRYERS
WARNING:
Canned the power card ta the terminal black. Each
calored wire should be connected to the termlnal black
screw with the same color wire around it. Far example_
cannect the black power card wire to the terminal black
screw with the black wire around it. Failure to follow
these instrudlans may result in a short ar overload.
Four-Wire Power Cord
* A 4-wlre cannecflan is required for all
mobile and manufactured home instaHaflons,
as well as all new construction after
January 1, 1996.
.A UL-Iisted strain relief is required.
"Use a 30=amp, 240-raft, 4=wire, UL-listed power cord
with #10 AWG-minimum capper canductar and dosed
loop or f_rked terminals with upturned ends.

O Remove the terminal block access cover on the upper
back of the dryer.
install c UL-listed strain relief into the power cord
througk_-hole.
Thread a 30-amp, 240-voff, 4-wire_ UL=listed power
cord with #10 AVe/G-minimum copper conductor
through the strain relief.

Transferthe dryer's ground wire from behind the green
ground screwto the center screw of the terminal block.
Attach _hetwo hot leads of the power cord to the outer
terminal block screws.
Attach the white neutral wire ta the center screw of
the terminal block.
Attach the power cord ground wire to the green
ground screw.
TIGHTEN ALL SCREWS SECURELY.
Reinstall the terminal block access cover.
Grounding through the neutral conductor is prahibited
for: (1) new branch-cin:uit installatians0 (2) mabile
homes, (3) recreatlonal vehlcles, and (4) areas where
local codes prohibit grounding thraugh the
neutral canductar.
Three-Wire Power Cord
" A 3-wlre connection is NOT permitted on
new consfructian after January |, |996.
" A UL-listed strain relief is required.
"Use a 30-amp, 240-volt, 3-wire, UL-listed power cord
with #10 AWG-rninimum copper conductor and closed
loop or forked terminals with upturned ends.

Remove the terminal block access cover on the upper
back of the dryer.
Install a UL=listed strain relief into the pawer cord
through-hole.
Thread a 30-amp, 240=volt, 3-wire, UL-listed power
cord with #10 AWG-minimum copper conductor
through the strain relief.

Attach the two hot leads (black and red) of the
power cord to the outer terminal block screws.
Attach the neutral (white) wire to the center terminal
block screw.
Connect the externai ground (if required by local
codes) to the green ground screw.
TIGHTEN ALL SCREWS SECURELY.
Reinstall the terminal block access cover.
