LIMITED WARRANTY ON CRAFTSMAN RIDING EQUIPMENT

For two (2) years from the date of purchase if this Craftsman Riding Equipment is

maintained, lubricated and tuned up according to the instructions in the owner's manua,

Sears will repair or replace free of charge an)/parts that are found to be defective in

material or workmanship according to the guidelines of coverage listed below. Sears will

also provide free labor for these applicable warranted parts for 2 full years, During the

first 30 days of purchase there will be no charges to service the product at your home

for issues covered by this warranty, (See exclusions betow), For your convenience, IN

HOME warranty service will still be available after the first 30 days of purchase, but a

trip charge wi I apply. This charge will be waived if the Craftsman product is dropped off

at an authorized Sears location. For the nearest authorized Sears location, please call

1-800-4-MY-HOME®, This warranty applies only while this product is within the United

States.

THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER:

• Expendable items which become worn during normal use, including but not limited to

blades, spark plugs, air cleaners, belts, and oil filters.

. Standard Maintenance Servicing, oil changes, or tune-ups

• Tire replacement or repair caused by punctures from outside objects, such as nails,

thorns, stumps, or glass.

• Repairs necessary because of operator abuse, including but not limited to, damage

caused by towing objects beyond the capability of the riding equipment, impacting

objects that bend the frame or crankshaft, or over-speeding the engine.

• Repairs necessary because of operator negligence, including but not limited to, elec-

trical and mechanical damage caused by improper storage, failure to use the proper

grade and amount of engine oil failure to keep the deck clear of flammable debris, or

failure to maintain the equipment according to the instructions contained in the owner's

manual.

• Engine (fuel system) cleaning or repairs caused by fuel determined to be contaminated

or oxidized (stale). in general, fuel should be used within 30 days of its purchase

date.

• Normal deterioration and wear of the exterior finishes, or product label replacement.

• Riding equipment used for commercial or rental purposes.

LIMITED WARRANTY ON BATTERY

For ninety (90) days from date of purchase, if any battery included with this riding

equipment proves defective in material or workmanship and our testing determines

the battery will not hold a charge, Sears will replace the battery at no charge. During

the first 30 days of purchase, there will be no charges to replace the battery at your

HOME. After the first 30 days, for your convenience, IN-HOME warranty service will

stiil be available but a trip charge will apply. This charge will be waived ff the Craftsman

_,_DANGER:This cutting machine is capable of amputating hands and feet and

throwing objects. Failure to observe the following safety instructions could result

in serious injury or death.

_WARNING: In order to prevent ac-

cidental starting when setting up, trans-

porting, adjusting or making repairs,

always disconnect spark plug wire and

place wire where it cannot contact spark

plug.

_IbWARNING: Do not coast down a hill in

neutral, you may lose control of the tractor,

that are recommended by and comply with

specifications of the manufacturer of your

tractor. Use common sense when towing,

Operate only at the lowest possible speed

when on a slope, Too heavy of a load,

while on a slope, is dangerous. Tires can

lose traction with the ground and cause

,_u to lose control of your tractor.

_WARNING: Battery posts, terminals

and related accessories contain lead and

Wash hands after handling.

I. GENERAL OPERATION

• Read, understand, and follow all

instructions on the machine and in the

manual before starting.

. Do not put hands or feet near rotating

parts or under the machine. Keep clear

of the discharge opening at all times.

• Only allow responsible adults, who are

familiar with the instructions, to operate

the machine.

• Clear the area of objects such as

rocks, toys, wire, etc., which could be

picked up and thrown by the blades.

• Be sure the area is clear of bystand-

ers before operating, Stop machine if

anyone enters the area,

• Never carry passengers.

• Do not mow in reverse unless abso-

lutely necessary, Always look down

and behind before and while backing,

• Never direct discharged material

toward anyone. Avoid discharging

material against a wall or obstruction,

Material may ricochet back toward the

operator,. Stop the blades when cross-

ing gravel surfaces

• Do not operate machine without the

entire grass catcher, discharge guard,

or other safety devices in place and

working,

• Slow down before turning.

• Never leave a running machine

unattended. Always turn off blades,

set parking brake, stop engine, and

remove keys before dismounting_

• Disengage blades when not mowing.

Shut off engine and wait for all parts to

come to a complete stop before clean-

ing the machine, removing the grass

catcher, or unclogging the discharge

guard,

• Operate machine only in daylight or

good artificial light°

• Do not operate the machine while

under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

° Watch for traffic when operating near

or crossing roadways_

• Use extra care when loading or unload-

ing the machine into a trailer or truck,

• Always wear eye protection when oper-

ating machine.

• Data indicates that operators, age 60

years and above, are involved in a

large percentage of riding mower-re-

lated injuries These operators should

evaluate their ability to operate the

riding mower safely enough to protect

themselves and others from serious

injury.

• Followthe manufacturer's recommen-

dation for wheel weights or counter-

weights.

• Keep machine free of grass, leaves

or other debris build-up which can

touch hot exhaust / engine parts and

burn- Do not allow the mower to plow

leaves or other debris which can cause

build-up to occur. Clean any oil or fuel

spillage before operating or storing the

machine° Allow machine to cool before

storage.

I!, SLOPE OPERATION

Slopes are a major factor related to loss of

control and tip-over accidents, which can

result in severe injury or death. Opera-

tion on all slopes requires extra caution, If

you cannot back up the slope or if you feel

uneasy on it, do not mow it.

- Mow up and down slopes, not across.

- Watch for holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, or

other hidden objects. Uneven terrain

could overturn the machine, Tall grass

can hide obstacles,

. Choose a low ground speed so that

you will not have to stop or shift while

on the slope.

• Do not mow on wet grass. Tires may

lose traction.

Always keep the machine in gear when

going down slopes, Do not shift to

neutral and coast downhill.

• Avoid starting, stopping, or turning on

a slope. If the tires lose traction, dis-

engage the blades and proceed slowly

straight down the slope.

• Keep all movement on the slopes stow

and gradual Do not make sudden

changes in speed or direction, which

could cause the machine to roll over,

• Use extra care while operating ma-

chine with grass catchers or other at-

tachments; they can affect the stability

of the machine. Do no use on steep

slopes,

• Do not try to stabilize the machine by

putting your foot on the ground.

• Do not mow near drop-offs, ditches,

or embankment& The machine could

suddenly roll over if a wheel is over the

edge or if the edge caves in.

III, CHILDREN

Tragic accidents can occur if the operator

is net alert to the presence of children,

Children are often attracted to the machine

and the mowing activity_ Never assume

that children will remain where you last

saw them,

• Keep children out of the mowing area

and in the watchful care of a respon-

sible adult other than the operator_

• Be alert and turn machine off if a child

enters the area°

• Before and while backing, look behind

and down for small children.

• Never carry children, even with the

blades shut off. They may fall off and

be seriously injured or interfere with

safe machine operation_ Children who

have been given rides in the past may

suddenly appear in the mowing area

for another ride and be run over or

backed over by the machine,

• Never allow children to operate the

machine,

• Use extra care when approaching blind

corners, shrubs, trees, or other objects

that may block your view of a child,

IV. TOWING

• Tow only with a machine that has a

hitch designed for towing, Do not at-

tach towed equipment except at the

hitch point,

• Followthe manufacturer's recom-

mendation for weight limits for towed

equipment and towing on slopeso

• Never allow children or others in or on

towed equipment,

• On slopes, the weight of the towed

equipment may cause loss of traction

and loss of control.

• Travel slowly and allow extra distance

to stop_

V. SERVICE

SAFE HANDLING OF GASOLINE

To avoid personal injury or property

damage, use extreme care in handling

gasoline, Gasoline is extremely flammable

and the vapors are explosive,

• Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes,

and other sources of ignition,

• Use only approved gasoline container.

• Never remove gas cap or add fuel with

the engine running Allow engine to

cool before refueling,

• Never fuel the machine indoors,

• Never store the machine or fuel con-

tainer where there is an open flame,

spark, or pilot light such as on a water

heater or other appliances.

• Never fill containers inside avehicle

or on a truck or trailer bed with plastic

liner, Always place containers on the

ground away from your vehicle when

filling.

• Remove gas-powered equipment from

the truck or trailer and refuel it on the

ground, If this is not possible, then

refuel such equipment with a portable

container, rather than from a gasoline

dispenser nozzle.

• Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim

of the fuel tank or container opening at

all times until fueling is complete. Do

not use a nozzle lock-open device,

• If fuel is spilled on clothing, change

clothing immediately.

• Never overfill fuel tank. Replace gas

cap and tighten securely.

GENERAL SERVICE

• Never operate machine in a closed

area.

• Keep all nuts and bolts tight to be sure

the equipment is in safe working condi-

tion.

• Never tamper with safety devices.

Check their proper operation regularly.

• Keep machine free of grass, leaves, or

other debris build-up. Clean oil or fuel

spillage and remove any fuel-soaked

debris. Allow machine to cool before

storing.

• If you strike a foreign object, stop and

inspect the machine. Repair, if neces-

sary, before restarting.

• Never make any adjustments or repairs

with the engine running.

• Check grass catcher components and

the discharge guard frequently and

replace with manufacturer's recom-

mended parts, when necessary,

• Mower blades are sharp. Wrap the

blade or wear gloves, and use extra

caution when servicing them,

, Check brake operation frequently. Ad-

just and service as required,

, Maintain or replace safety and instruc-

tion labels, as necessary.

• Be sure the area is clear of bystand-

ers before operating. Stop machine if

anyone enters the area.

engage the blades and proceed slowly

If machine stops while going uphill,

disengage blades, shift into reverse

and back down slowly,

Do not turn on slopes unless neces-

sary, and then, turn slowly and gradu-

ally downhil!, if possible

quired by law (Section 4442 of the Califor-

Your new tractor has been assembled at the factory with the exception of those parts left

unassembled for shipping purposes.

When right or left hand is mentioned in

this manual, it means, from your point of

view, when you are in the operating post-

tion (seated behind the steering wheel)_

TO REMOVE TRACTOR FROM

CARTON

UNPACK CARTON

1. Cut along dashed lines on al! four pan-

els of carton. Remove end panels and

lay side panels fiat.

2, Remove protective materials from trac-

tor hood and grille,

IMPORTANT: Check for and remove any

staples in skid that may puncture tires

where tractor is to roll off skid.

CHECK BATTERY

• Lift seat pan to raised position and open

battery box door.

• If this battery is put into service after

month and year indicated on label (Ia-

bei located between terminals) charge

battery for minimum of one hour at 6-10

amps. (See "BATTERY" in Maintenance

section of this manual for charging

instructions).

clutch/brake pedal all the way down,

WARNING: Before starting, read,

Be sure tractor is in a well-ventilated

area. Be sure the area in front of trac-

tor is clear of other people and objects.

TO ROLL TRACTOR OFF SKID (See

Operation section for location and

function of controls)

1, Raise attachment lift lever to its highest

position.

2. Reiease parking brake by depressing

brake pedal,

3, Place freewheel control in disengaged

position to disengage transmission

(See "TO TRANSPORT" in the Op-

eration section of this manual).

4_ Rol! tractor forward off skid°

5. Remove banding holding the deflector

shield up against tractor.

TO DRIVE TRACTOR OFF SKID

(See Operation section for location

and function of controls)

1. Be sure all the above assembly steps

have been completed.

2. Check engine oil level and fill fuel tank

with gasoline.

3, Place freewheel control in "trans-

mission engaged" position (see "TO

TRANSPORT" in Operation section of

this manual).

4. Sit on seat in operating position, de-

press brake pedal and set the parking

brake.

5. Raise attachment lift lever to its highest

position.

6. Remove key from bag and start the

engine (see "TO START ENGINE" in

the Operation section of this manual)°

After engine has started, move throttle

control to idle (slow) position,

7_ Release parking brake.

8. Slowly depress forward drive pedal

and drive tractor off skid,

9, Apply brake to stop tractor and set

parking brake°

1&Turn ignition key to "STOP" position.

Continue with the instructions that follow.

CHECK TIRE PRESSURE

The tires on your tractor were overinfiated

at the factory for shipping purposes. Cor-

rect tire pressure is important for best

cutting performance,

• Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown on

tires,

CHECK DECK LEVELNESS

For best cutting results, mower hous-

ing should be properly leveled. See "TO

LEVEL MOWER" in the Service and

Adjustments section of this manual.

CHECK FOR PROPER POSITION

OF ALL BELTS

See the figures that are shown for replac-

ing motion and mower blade drive belts

in the Service and Adjustments section

of this manual. Verify that the belts are

routed correctly

CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM

After you learn how to operate your trac-

tor, check to see that the brake is operat-

ing properly. See "TO CHECK BRAKE"

in the Service and Adjustments section of

this manual,

Before you operate your new tractor, we

wish to assure that you receive the best

performance and satisfaction from this

Please review the following checklist:

€" All assembly instructions have been

completed,

v" No remaining loose parts in carton.

#" Battery is properly prepared and

charged.

#" Seat is adjusted comfortably and tight-

ened securely.

/ All tires are properJy inflated, (For ship-

fping purposes, the tires were overin-

lated at the factory)_

v" Be sure mower deck is properly leveled

side4o-side/front4o-rear for best cutting

results. (Tires must be properly inflated

for leveling).

¢" Check mower and drive belts. Be sure

they are routed properly around pulleys

and inside all belt keepers.

v" Check wiring. See that all connections

are still secure and wires are properly

clamped.

¢" Before driving tractor, be sure freewheel

control is in "transmission engaged'

position (see "TO TRANSPORT" in the

Operation section of this manual),

While learning how to use your tractor, pay

extra attention to the following important

items:

¢" Engine oil is at proper level.

¢" Fuel tank is filled with fresh, clean, regu-

lar unleaded gasoline.

,/Become familiar with all controls, their

location and function, Operate them

before you start the engine.

v" Be sure brake system is in safe operat-

ing condition.

¢" Be sure Operator Presence System

and Reverse Operation System (ROS)

are working properly (See the Opera-

tion and Maintenance sections in this

manual).

v" It is important to purge the transmission

before operating your tractor for the first

time. Follow proper starting and transmis-

sion purging instructions (See q'O START

ENGINE" and "PURGE TRANSMISSION"

in the Operation section of this manual).

TRACTOR

Compare the illustrations with your tractor to familiarize yourself with the locations of

various controts and adjustments. Save this manual for future reference.

Our tractors conform to the applicable safety standards of the

American National Standards Institute,

(A) ATTACHMENT LIFT LEVER - Used

to raise and lower the mower or other at-

tachments mounted to your tractor,

(B) BRAKE PEDAL - Used for braking the

tractor and starting the engine,

brake pedal into the brake position,

(D) THROTTLE CONTROL _ Used to

control engine speed.

(E) ATTACHMENT CLUTCH LEVER

- Used to engage the mower blades, or

other attachments mounted to your tractor.

(F) IGNITION SWITCH - Used for starting

and stopping the engine.

(G) REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM

(ROS) "ON" POSITION - Allows opera-

tion of mower or other powered attach-

ment while in reverse.

(H) LIGHT SWITCH - Turns the head-

Iights on and off

(J) CRUISE CONTROL LEVER - Used to

set forward movement of tractor at desired

speed without holding the forward drive

pedal.

(K) FORWARD DRIVE PEDAL - Used for

forward movement of tractor,

(L) REVERSE DRIVE PEDAL- Used for

reverse movement of tractor,

(M) FREEWHEEL CONTROL- Disen-

gages transmission for pushing or slowly

towing the tractor with the engine off,

The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into the

eyes, which can result in severe eye damage, Always wear safety glasses

or eye shietds while operating your tractor or performing any adjustments

or repairs. We recommend standard safety glasses or a wide vision safety

mask worn over spectacIes.

HOW TO USE YOUR TRACTOR

TO SET PARKING BRAKE

Your tractor is equipped with an operator

presence sensing switch. When engine

is running, any attempt by the operator

to leave the seat without first setting the

parking brake wili shut off the engine.

I_ Depress brake pedal (B) all the way

down and hold.

2. Pull parking brake lever (C) up and

hold, release pressure from brake

pedal (B), then release parking brake

lever. Pedal should remain in brake

position. Make sure parking brake will

hold tractor securer

STOPPING

MOWER BLADES -

• To stop mower blades, move at-

tachment clutch lever in to disengaged

• To stop ground drive, depress brake

pedal all the way down.

ENGINE -

• Move throttle control (D) between half

and full speed (fast) position.

NOTE: Failure to move throttle control

between half and full speed (fast) posi-

tion, before stopping, may cause engine to

"backfire"°

• Turn ignition key (F) to "STOP" position

and remove key Always remove key

when leaving tractor to prevent unau-

thorized use.

IMPORTANT: Leaving the ignition switch

in any position other than "STOP" will

cause the battery to discharge and go

dead.

NOTE: Under certain conditions when

tractor is standing idle with the engine run-

ning, hot engine exhaust gases may cause

"browning" of grass° To eliminate this pos-

sibility, always stop engine when stopping

tractor on grass areas.

_CAUTION: Always stop tractor com-

pletely, as described above, before leaving

the operator's position.

TO MOVE FORWARD AND

BACKWARD

The direction and speed of movement

is controlled by the forward and reverse

drive pedals°

1_ Start tractor and release parking brake.

2. Slowly depress forward (K) or reverse

(L) drive pedal to begin movement.

Ground speed increases the further

down the pedal is depressed

TO USE CRUISE CONTROL

The cruise control feature can be used for

forward travel only.

SYSTEM CHARACTERISTICS

The cruise control shoutd only be used

while mowing or transporting on relatively

smooth, straight surfaces, Other condi-

tions such as trimming at slow speeds

may cause the cruise control to dis-

engage Do not use the cruise control on

slopes, rough terrian or while trimmimg or

turning

• With forward drive pedal (K) depressed

to desired speed, pulf cruise control

lever (J) up and hold while lifting your

foot off the pedal, then release the lever,

To disengage the cruise control, depress

the brake pedal or tap on forward drive

pedal.

TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT

The position of the attachment lift lever (A)

determines the cutting height.

• Put attachment lift lever in desired cut-

ting height slot.

The cutting height range is approxi-

mately 1" to 4". The heights are mea-

sured from the ground to the blade tip with

the engine not running. These heights

are approximate and may vary depending

upon soil conditions, height of grass and

types of grass being mowed

• The average lawn should be cutto ap-

proximately 2-1/2 inches during the cool

season and to over 3 inches during hot

months. For healthier and better look-

ing lawns, mow often and after moderate

growth.

• For best cutting performance, grass over

6 inches in height should be mowed

twice° Make the first cut relatively high;

the second to desired height.

TO ADJUST GAUGE WHEELS

Gauge wheels are properly adjusted

when they are slightly off the ground when

mower is at the desired cutting height in

operating position. Gauge wheels then

keep the deck in proper position to help

prevent scalping in most terrain conditions,

NOTE: Adjust gauge wheels with tractor

on a flat level surface,

1. Adjust mower to desired cutting height

(See "TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING

HEIGHT" in this section of manual).

2. With mower in desired height of cut

position, gauge wheels should be

assembled so they are slightly off the

ground. Install gauge wheel in appro_

priate hole. Tighten securely,

3. Repeat for all, installing gauge wheel in

same adjustment hole.

TO OPERATE MOWER

Your tractor is equipped with an operator

presence sensing switch. Any attempt

by the operator to leave the seat with the

engine running and the attachment clutch

engaged will shut off the engine. You must

remain fully and centrally positioned in the

seat to prevent the engine from hesitating

or cutting off when operating your equip-

ment on rough, roiling terrain or hills.

1. Select desired height of cut with at-

tachment lift lever.

2, Start mower blades by engaging at-

tachment clutch control,

REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS)

Your tractor is equipped with a Reverse

Operation System (ROS), Any attempt by

the operator to travel in the reverse direc-

tion with the attachment clutch engaged

will shut off the engine unless ignition key

is placed in the ROS "ON" position.

_WARNING: Backing up with the at-

tachment clutch engaged while mowing

is strongly discouraged, Turning the ROS

"ON", to allow reverse operation with the

attachment clutch engaged, should only

be done when the operator decides it is

necessary to reposition the machine with

the attachment engaged, Do not mow in

reverse unless absolutely necessary,

USING THE REVERSE OPERATION

SYSTEM

Only use if you are certain no children or

other bystanders will enter the mowing

area.

1. Depress brake pedal all the way down.

2. With engine running, turn ignition key

counterclockwise to ROS "ON" posi-

tion_

3. Look down and behind before and

while backing,

4, Slowly depress reverse drive pedaI to

start movement.

5. When use of the ROS is no longer

needed, turn the ignition key clockwise

to engine "ON" position.

TO OPERATE ON HILLS

_I_WARNING: Do not drive up or down

hills with slopes greater than 15 ° and do

not drive across any slope. Use the slope

guide provided at the back of this manual,

• Choose the slowest speed before start-

ing up or down hills,

• Avoid stopping or changing speed on

hills,

• If stopping is absolutely necessary, push

brake pedal quickly to brake position

and engage parking brake,

• To restart movement, slowly release

parking brake and brake pedal.

• Slowly depress appropriate drive pedal

to slowest setting,

• Make all turns slowly.

TO TRANSPORT

When pushing or towing your tractor, be

sure to disengage transmission by placing

freewheel control in freewheeling position,

Freewheel control is located at the rear

drawbar of tractor,

1. Raise attachment lift Iever to its highest

position.

2. Pull freewheel control out and into the

slot and release so it is held in the

disengaged position.

• Do not push or tow tractor at more than

two (2) MPH,

• To re-engage transmission, reverse

above procedure.

transporting your tractor on a truck or a

trailer, be sure hood is closed and secured

to tractor, Use an appropriate means of

tying hood to tractor (rope, cord, etc.)_

TOWING CARTS AND OTHER ATTACH-

MENTS

Tow only the attachments that are recom-

mended by and comply with specifications

of the manufacturer of your tractor. Use

common sense when towin_l, Too heavy

of a load, while on a slope, is dangerous.

Tires can lose traction with the ground and

cause you to lose control of your tractor.

SERVICE REMINDER/HOUR METER

Service reminder shows the total number

of hours the engine has run and flashes to

indicate that the engine or mower needs

servicing, When service is required, the

service reminder will flash for two hours.

To service engine and mower, see the

Maintenance section of this manua!.

NOTE: Service reminder runs when the

ignition key is in any position but "STOP'L

For accurate reading, be sure key remains

in the "STOP" position when engine is not

running°

BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE

CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

The engine in your tractor has been

shipped, from the factory, already filled

with summer weight oil,

1. Check engine oil with tractor on level

ground.

2. Remove oil fill cap/dipstick and wipe

clean, reinsert the dipstick and screw

cap tight, wait for a few seconds, re-

move and read oil level. If necessary,

add oil until "FULE' mark on dipstick is

reached. Do not overfill.

• For cold weather operation you should

change oil for easier starting (See the

oil viscosity chart in the Maintenance

section of this manual).

• To change engine oil, see the Mainte-

nance section in this manual.

ADD GASOLINE

• Fill fuel tank to bottom of filler neck. Do

not overfill. Use fresh, clean, regular

unleaded gasoline with a minimum of

87 octane. (Use of leaded gasoline will

increase carbon and lead oxide deposits

and reduce valve life). Do not mix oil

with gasoline. Purchase fuel in quan-

tities that can be used within 30 days to

assure fuel freshness.

_,CAUTION: Wipe off any spilled oil or

fuel. Do not store, spill or use gasoline

near an open flame.

IMPORTANT: When operating in temper-

atures below32°F(0°C), use fresh, clean

winter grade gasoline to help insure good

cold weather starting_

CAUTION: Alcohol blended fuels (called

gasohot or using ethanol or methanol) can

attract moisture which leads to separa-

tion and formation of acids during storage,.

Acidic gas can damage the fuel system

of an engine while in storage. To avoid

engine problems, the fuel system should

be emptied before storage of 30 days

or longer. Drain the gas tank, start the

engine and let it run until the fuel lines

and carburetor are empty. Use fresh fuel

next season. See Storage Instructions for

additional information. Never use engine

or carburetor cleaner products in the fuel

tank or permanent damage may occur.

TO START ENGINE

When starting the engine for the first time

or if the engine has run out of fuel, it will

take extra cranking time to move fuel from

the tank to the engine.

1o Be sure freewheel control is in the

transmission engaged position.

2. Sit on seat in operating position,

depress brake pedal and set parking

brake.

3. Move attachment clutch to disengaged

position.

4. Move throttle control to fast position

5. Pull choke control out for a cold engine

start attempt. For a warm engine start

attempt the choke control may not be

needed.

NOTE: Before starting, read the warm and

cold starting procedures betow_

& Insert key into ignition and turn key

clockwise to start position and release

key as soon as engine starts. Do

not run starter continuously for more

than fifteen seconds per minute_ If the

engine does not start after several

attempts, push choke control in, wait

a few minutes and try again. If engine

still does not start, pull the choke con-

trol out and retry,

WARM WEATHER STARTING (50 ° F and

above)

7_ When engine starts, slowly push choke

control in until the engine begins to

run smoothly. If the engine starts to

run roughly, pull the choke control out

slightly for a few seconds and then

continue to push the control in slowly,

• The attachments and ground drive can

now be used. If the engEne does not

accept the toad, restart the engine and

allow it to warm up for one minute using

the choke as described above.

COLDWEATHERSTARTING(50° F and

below)

tion.

3. Allow oneminutefor transmissionto

warm up.This can be doneduringthe

enginewarm up period.

• Theattachmentscanbe usedduring

transmissionhasbeenwarmedup and

mayrequirethe chokecontrolbe pulled

out slightly.

NOTE:If at a highaltitude(above3000

feet)or in coldtemperatures(below32 F)

the carburetorfuel mixturemayneedto

be adjustedfor best engineperformance

(see"TOADJUSTCARBURETOR"in the

ServiceandAdjustmentssectionof this

manual).

After the engine is running, move

throttle control to half (1/2) speed.

Disengage parking brake.

8. Drive tractor forward for approximately

five feet then backwards for five feet.

Repeat this driving procedure three

times.

Your transmission is now purged and now

ready for normal operation.

MOWING TIPS

• Tire chains cannot be used when the

mower housing is attached to tractor,

• Mower should be properly leveled for

best mowing performance_ See "TO

LEVEL MOWER HOUSING" in the

Service and Adjustments section of this

manual,

• The left hand side of mower should be

Used for trimming.

. Drive so that clippings are discharged

onto the area that has already been

cut, Have the cut area to the right of

the tractor, This will result in a more

even distribution of clippings and more

uniform cutting.

• When mowing Iarge areas, start by

turning to the right so that clippings will

discharge away from shrubs, fences,

driveways, etc. After one or two rounds,

mow in the opposite direction making

left hand turns until finished,

• If grass is extremely tall, it should be

mowed twice to reduce load and pos-

sible fire hazard from dried clippings.

Make first cut relatively high; the second

to the desired height,

• Do not mow grass when it is wet,

Wet grass will plug mower and leave

undesirable clumps. Allow grass to dry

before mowing,

• Always operate engine at full throttle

when mowing to assure better mowing

performance and proper discharge of

material, Regulate ground speed by

selecting a low enough speed to give

the mower cutting performance as well

as the quality of cut desired.

• When operating attachments, select a

ground speed that will suit the terrain

and give best performance of the at-

tachment being used,

pivot points which have special nylon

bearings, Viscous lubricants will attract

dust and dirt that wilt shorten the life of the

self-lubricating bearings. If you feel they

must be lubricated, use only a dry, pow-

dered graphite type lubricant sparingly.

BRAKE OPERATION

If tractor requires more than five (5) feet to

stop at highest speed in highest gear on a

level, dry concrete or paved surface, then

TIRES

• Maintain proper air pressure in all tires

(See PS1 on tires)_

• Keep tires free of gasoline, oil, or insect

control chemicals which can harm rubber.

• Avoid stumps, stones, deep ruts, sharp

objects and other hazards that may

cause tire damage°

NOTE: To seal tire punctures and prevent

flat tires due to slow leaks, tire sealant

may be purchased from your local parts

dealer. Tire sealant also prevents tire dry

OPERATOR PRESENCE SYSTEM AND

REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS)

Be sure operator presence and reverse

operation systems are working properly If

your tractor does not function as de-

scribed, repair the problem immediately,

• The engine should not start unless the

brake pedal is fully depressed, and the

attachment clutch control is in the disen-

gaged position.

• When the engine is running, any at-

tempt by the operator to leave the seat

without first setting the parking brake

should shut off the engine,

• When the engine is running and the

attachment clutch is engaged, any at-

tempt by the operator to leave the seat

should shut off the engine,

• The attachment clutch should never op-

erate unless the operator is in the seat.

BLADE CARE

For best results mower blades must be

sharp° Replace worn, bent or damaged

blades,.

A CAUTION: Use only a replacement

blade approved by the manufacturer of

your tractor, Using a blade not approved

by the manufacturer of your tractor is

hazardous, could damage your tractor and

void your warranty.

BLADE REMOVAL

1o Raise mower to highest position to al-

low access to blades.

NOTE: Protect your hands with gloves

and/or wrap blade with heavy cloth.

2. Remove blade bolt by turning counter-

clockwise.

3. Install new blade with stamped

"GRASS S1DE" facing the ground.

IMPORTANT: To ensure proper assembly,

center hole in blade must align with star

on mandrel assembly.

4o Install and tighten blade bolt securely

(45-55 Fto Lbs. torque).

BATTERY

Your tractor has a battery charging system

which is sufficient for normal use. How-

ever, periodic charging of the battery with

an automotive charger will extend its life,

Keep battery and terminals clean,

• Keep battery bolts tight.

• Keep small vent holes open.

• Recharge at 6-10 amperes for 1 hour.

NOTE: The original equipment battery on

your tractor is maintenance free. Do not

attempt to open or remove caps or covers.

Adding or checking level of electrolyte is

not necessary.

TO CLEAN BATTERY AND TERMINALS

Corrosion and dirt on the battery and termi-

nals can cause the battery to "leak" power.

1, Disconnect BLACK battery cable first

then RED battery cable and remove

battery from tractor.

2. Rinse the battery with plain water and

dry.

3. Clean terminals and battery cable ends

with wire brush until bright.

4. Coat terminals with grease or petro-

leum jelly,

5. Reinstall battery (See "REPLACING

BATTERY in the SERVICE AND AD-

JUSTMENTS section of this manual).

TRANSAXLE COOLING

The transmission fan and cooling fins

should be kept clean to assure proper

cooling,

Do not attempt to clean fan or transmis-

sion while engine is running or while the

transmission is hot, To prevent possible

damage to seals, do not use high pressure

water or steam to clean transaxle,

• Inspect cooling fan to be sure fan blades

are intact and clean.

• Inspect cooling fins for dirt, grass clip-

pings and other materials. To prevent

damage to seals, do not use com-

pressed air or high pressure sprayer to

clean cooling fins.

TRANSAXLE PUMP FLUID

The transaxle was sealed at the factory

and fluid maintenance is not required for

the life of the transaxle. Should the trans-

axle ever leak or require servicing, contact

your nearest Sears or other qualified

service center,

V-BELTS

Check V-belts for deterioration and wear

after 100 hours of operation and replace

if necessary, The belts are not adjustable.

Replace belts if they begin to slip from

wear.

ENGINE

LUBRICATION

Only use high quality detergent oil rated

with API service classification SG-SL

Select the oil's SAE viscosity grade

according to your expected operating

temperature.

cold weather, they will result in increased

oil consumption when used above 32°E

Check your engine oil level more frequent-

ly to avoid possible engine damage from

running low on oil.

Change the oil after every 50 hours of op-

eration or at least once a year if the tractor

is not used for 50 hours in one year°

Check the crankcase oil level before start-

ing the engine and after each eight (8)

hours of operation. Tighten oil fill cap/

dipstick securely each time you check the

oil level.

TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL

Determine temperature range expected

before oil change. Atl oil must meet API

service classification SG-SL

• Be sure tractor is on level surface.

• OiI will drain more freely when warm,

• Catch oil in a suitable container.

1. Remove oil fill cap/dipstick, Be careful

not to allow dirt to enter the engine

when changing oil

2. Remove yellow cap from end of drain

valve and install the drain tube onto the

fitting,

3, Unlock drain valve by pushing inward

slightly and turning counterclockwise.

4, To open, pull out on the drain valve,

5. After oil has drained completely, close

and lock the drain valve by pushing

inward and turning clockwise until the

pin is in the locked position as shown.

6. Remove the drain tube and replace the

cap onto the end of the drain valve,

7, Refill engine with oil through oil fill dip-

stick tube. Pour slowly. Do not overfill.

For approximate capacity see "PROD-

UCT SPECIFICATIONS" section of this

manual.

& Use gauge on oil fill cap/dipstick for

checking level. For accurate reading,

insert dipstick into the tube and push

down firmly into place before removing.

Keep oil up to, but not over, the "FULE'

line on dipstick. Push dipstick down

firmly into the tube when finished,

ENGINE OIL FILTER

Replace the engine oil filter every season

or every other oi! change if the tractor is

used more than I00 hours in one year,

AIR FILTER

Your engine will not run properly using a

dirty air filter° CIean the foam pre-cleaner

after every 25 hours of operation or every

season. Service paper cartridge every

100 hours of operation or every season,

whichever occurs first.

Service air cleaner more often under dusty

conditions,

1. Remove cover.

TO SERVICE PRE-CLEANER

2. Wash it in liquid detergent and water,

3. Squeeze it dry in a clean ciotho

4, Saturate it in engine oil. Wrap it in

clean, absorbent cloth and squeeze to

remove excess oil.

NOTE: If very dirty or damaged, replace

pre-cleaner.

TO SERVICE CARTRIDGE

1. Clean cartridge by tapping gently on

flat surface. If very dirty or damaged,

replace cartridge.

2, Reinstall precteaner cartridge, cover

and secure.

IMPORTANT: Petroleum solvents, such

as kerosene, are not to be used to clean

the cartridge_ They may cause deterio-

ration of the cartridge. Do not oil cartridge,

Do not use pressurized air to clean or dry

cartridge.

CLEAN AIR SCREEN

Air screen must be kept free of dirt and

chaff to prevent engine damage from

overheating. Clean with a wire brush or

compressed air to remove dirt and stub-

born dried gum fibers.

CLEAN AIR INTAKE/COOLING AREAS

To insure proper cooling, make sure the

grass screen, cooling fins, and other exter-

nal surfaces of the engine are kept clean

at all times.

Every 100 hours of operation (more often

under extremely dusty, dirty conditions),

remove the blower housing and other cool-

ing shrouds. Clean the cooling fins and

external surfaces as necessary. Make sure

the cooling shrouds are reinstalled.

NOTE; Operating the engine with a

blocked grass screen, dirty or plugged

cooling fins, and!or cooling shrouds

removed will cause engine damage due to

overheating.

MUFFLER

Inspect and replace corroded muffler and

spark arrester (if equipped) as it could cre-

ate a fire hazard and/or damage,

SPARK PLUG(S)

Replace spark plug(s) at the beginning

of each mowing season or after every

100 hours of operation, whichever occurs

first. Spark plug type and gap setting are

shown in "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS"

section of this manual.

IN-LINE FUEL FILTER

The fuel filter should be replaced once

each season, If fuel filter becomes

clogged, obstructing fuel flow to carbu-

retor, replacement is required,

1. With engine cool, remove filter and

plug fuel line sections.

2. Place new fuel filter in position in fuel

line with arrow pointing towards carbu-

retor.

3. Be sure there are no fuel line leaks and

clamps are properly positioned.

4. Immediately wipe up any spilled gaso-

line,

CLEANING

• Clean engine, battery, seat, finish, etco

of all foreign matter,

• Keep finished surfaces and wheels free

of all gasoline, oil, etc.

• Protect painted surfaces with auto-

motive type wax.

We do not recommend using a garden

hose or pressure washer to clean your

tractor unless the engine and transmis-

sion are covered to keep water out. Water

in engine or transmission will shorten the

useful life of your tractor, Use compressed

air or a leaf blower to remove grass,

201eaves and trash from tractor and mower.

WARNING: TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY, BEFORE PERFORMING ANY SER-

VICE OR ADJUSTMENTS:

1. Depress brake pedal fully and set parking brake.

2. Place attachment clutch in "DISENGAGED" position.

3_ Turn ignition key to "STOP" and remove key,

4, Make sure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped

5, Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire where it cannot

come in contact with plug,

TRACTOR

TO REMOVE MOWER

1- Place attachment clutch in "DISEN-

GAGED" position.

2, Lower attachment lift lever to its lowest

3, Roll belt off engine pulley (M) and belt

keepers (G),

4. Remove retainer spring (K), slide collar

(L) off and push housing guide (P) out

of bracket,

5, Remove clutch cable spring (Q) from

idler arm (R),

6, Disconnect front link (E) from mower

- remove retainer spring and washer,

7, Go to either side of mower and discon-

nect mower suspension arm (A) from

chassis pin (B) and rear lift link (C)

from rear mower bracket (D) - remove

_b retainer springs and washers.

CAUTION. After rear lift links are

disconnected, the attachment lift lever wilt

be spring loaded, Have a tight grip on lift

lever when changing position of the lever,

8, Slide mower out from under right side

of tractor.

IMPORTANT: If an attachment other than

the mower is to be mounted on the tractor,

remove the front link (E) and rear lift tiks

(Q) into the cable guide on front edge of

lower dash.

TO INSTALL MOWER

Be sure tractor is on level surface and

engage parking brake,

1, Lower attachment lift lever to it's lowest

position.

TO LEVEL MOWER

Make sure tires are properly inflated to

the PSI shown on tires, if tires are over

or under inflated, it may affect the appear-

ance of your lawn and lead you to think

the mower is not adjusted property.

VISUAL SIDE-TO-SIDE ADJUSTMENT

1. With all tires properly inflated and if

your lawn appears unevenly cut, de-

termine which side of mower is cutting

lower.

2. With a 3/4" or adjustable wrench, turn

lift link adjustment nut (A) to the left to

lower LH side of mower, or, to the right

to raise LH side of mower.

3. Test your adjustment by mowing some

PRECISION SIDE-TO-SIDE

ADJUSTMENT

1. With all tires properly inflated, park

tractor on level ground or driveway.

CAUTION: Blades are sharp. Protect

your hands with gloves and/or wrap blade

with heavy cloth.

2. Raise mower to its highest position.

3. At both sides of mower, position blade

at side and measure the distance

(A) from bottom edge of blade to the

ground. The distance should be the

same on both sides.

5, Recheck measurements, adjust if nec-

essary until both sides are equal.

FRONT-TO-BACK ADJUSTMENT

IMPORTANT: Deck must be level side-

to-side_

To obtain the best cutting results, the

mower blades should be adjusted so the

front tip is 1/8" to 1/2" lower than the rear

tip when the mower is in its highest posi-

tion,

CAUTION: Blades are sharp, Protect

your hands with gloves and/or wrap blade

with heavy cloth.

• Raise mower to highest position.

• Position any blade so the tip is pointing

straight forward. Measure distance (B)

to the ground at front and rear tip of the

blade.

• If front tip of blade is not 1/8" to 1/2"

lower than the rear tip, go to the front of

tractor°

• With an 11/16" or adjustable wrench,

loosen jam nut A several turns to clear

adjustment nut B.

• With a 3/4" or adjustable wrench, turn

front link adjustment nut (B) clockwise

(tighten) to raise the front of mower, or,

counterclockwise (loosen) to lower the

front mower

belt onto engine pulley (E).

3, Pull belt toward rear of tractor, Care-

fully work belt down around transmis-

sion cooling fan and onto the input

pulley (D), Be sure belt is inside the

belt keeper_

4, Install belt on centerspan idler (C),

5, install belt through stationary idler (A)

and clutching idler (B).

6. Make sure belt is in all pulley grooves

and inside all belt guides and keepers.

7, Install mower (See "TO INSTALL

MOWER" in this section of manual),

TO CHECK BRAKE

If tractor requires more than five (5) feet to

stop at highest speed in highest gear on a

level, dry concrete or paved surface, then

brake must be serviced.

You may also check brake by:

!_ Park tractor on a level, dry concrete or

paved surface, depress brake pedal

all the way down and engage parking

brake.

2, Disengage transmission by placing

freewheel control in "transmission dis-

engaged" position. Pull freewheel con-

trol out and into the slot and release so

it is held in the disengaged position.

The rear wheels must lock and skid

when you try to manually push the tractor

ferward, If the rear wheels rotate, then the

brake needs to be service& Contact a

Sears or other qualified service center.

FRONT WHEEL TOE-IN/CAMBER

Your new tractor front wheel toe-in and

camber is set at the factory and is normal

The front wheel toe-in and camber are

not adjustable° If damage has occurred to

affect the factory set front wheel toe-in or

camber, contact a Sears or other qualified

service center.

TO REMOVE WHEEL FOR REPAIRS

1. Block up axle securely.

2. Remove axle cover, retaining ring and

washers to allow wheel removal (rear

wheels have a square key - Do not

lose).

3. Repair tire and reassemble.

NOTE: On rear wheels only: align

grooves in rear wheel hub and axle. Insert

square key.

4. Replace washers and snap retaining

ring securely in axle groove

5. Replace axle cover.

NOTE: To seal tire punctures and prevent

flat tires due to slow leaks, purchase and

use tire sealant from Sears. Tire sealant

also prevents tire dry rot and corrosion.

TO START ENGINE WITH A WEAK BAT-

TERY

_WARNING: Lead-acid batteries gen-

erate explosive gases. Keep sparks, flame

and smoking materials away from bat-

teries. Always wear eye protection when

around batteries,

If your battery is too weak to start the

engine, it should be recharged, (See "BAT-

TERY" in the MAINTENANCE section of

this manual).

If "jumper cables" are used for emergency

starting, follow this procedure:

IMPORTANT: Your tractor is equipped

with a t2 volt system. The other vehicle

must also be a 12 volt system. Do not use

your tractor battery to start other vehicles°

TO ATTACH JUMPER CABLES -

1. Connect one end of the RED cable

to the POSITIVE (+) terminal of each

battery(A-B), taking care net to short

against tractor chassis.

2_ Connect one end of the BLACK cable

to the NEGATIVE (-) terminal (C) of

fully charged battery.

3. Connect the other end of the BLACK

cable (D) to good chassis ground,

away from fuel tank and battery.

Maintenance, repair, or replacement of the

emission control devices and systems, which

are being done at the customers expense,

may be performed by any non-road engine

repair establishment or individual. Warranty

repairs must be performed by an authorized

engine manufacturer's service outlet.

TO ADJUST THROTTLE CONTROL

CABLE

The throttle control has been preset at

the factory and adjustment should not be

necessary, Check adjustment as described

below before loosening cable. If adjustment

is necessary, proceed as follows:

1. With engine not running, move throttle

control tever from slow to choke position.

Slowly move lever from choke to fast

position.

2. Check to see if hole in throttle lever

and hole in speed control bracket are

aligned_

3. Ifhotes are notaligned, Ioosen cable clamp

screw and align the holes by inserting a

pencil or a I/4" drill bit through both holes.

4. Pull throttle cable up to remove slack

and tighten cable clamp screw. Remove

alignment pencil or drill bit.

TO ADJUST CARBURETOR

The carburetor has been preset at the fac-

tory and adjustment should not be neces-

sary. However, minor adjustment may be

required to compensate for differences in

fuel, temperature, altitude or load. If the

carburetor does need adjustment, proceed

as follows:

In general, turning the adjusting needles in

(clockwise) decreases the supply of fuel to

the engine giving a leaner fuel/air mixture.

Turning the adjusting needles out (counter-

clockwise) increases the supply of fuel tothe

engine giving a richer fuel/air mixture_

IMPORTANT: Damage to the needles and

seats in carburetor may result if turned in

too tight.

NOTE: The carburetor on this engine is

low emission_ tt is equipped with an idle

fuel adjusting needle with a limiter cap,

which allows some adjustment within the

limits allowed by the cap. Do not attempt

to remove the limiter cap. The timiter cap

cannot be removed without breaking the

adjusting needle.

1_ Be sure you have a clean ai r filter and the

throttle control cable is adjusted properly

(see above),

2. Start engine and allow to warm for five

minutes_ Make adjustments with engine

running and shift/motion control lever in

neutral (N) position.

3. Idle speed setting - With throttle control

lever in slow position, engine should idle

at 1750 RPM. If engine idles too slow or

fast, turn idle speed adjusting screw in

or out until correct idle is attained

4. !die. fuel needle setting - With throttle

control lever in stow position, turn idle

fuel adjustment needle in (clockwise)

until engine begins to die and then turn

out (counterclockwise) until engine runs

rough. Turn needle to a point midway

between those two positions.

5. Recheck idle speed° Readjust if nec-

essary.

6. Move throttle control lever from slow

to fast position. If engine hesitates or

dies, turn idle fuel adjusting needle out

(counterclockwise) 1/8 turn. Repeat test

and continue to adjust, if necessary, until

engine accelerates smoothly.

High speed stop is factory adjusted_ Do not

adjust - damage may result.

IMPORTANT: Never tamper with the engine

governor, which is factory set for proper

engine speed. Overspeeding the engine

above the factory high speed setting can be

dangerous. If you think the engine-governed

high speed needs adjusting, contact a Sears

or other qualified service center, which has

proper equipment and experience to make

any necessary adjustments.

Immediately prepare your tractor for stor-

age at the end of the season or if the trac-

BATTERY

• Fully charge the battery for storage.

• After a period of time in storage, battery

may require recharging-

. To help prevent corrosion and power

leakage during Iong periods of storage,

battery cables should be disconnected

and battery cleaned thoroughly (see "TO

CLEAN BATTERY AND TERMINALS" in

the Maintenance section of this manual).

• After cleaning, leave cables discom

nected and place cables where they

cannot come in contact with battery

terminals.

• If battery is removed from tractor for

storage, do not store battery directly on

concrete or damp surfaces+

ENGINE

FUEL SYSTEM

IMPORTANT: It is important to prevent

gum deposits from forming in essential

fuel system parts such as carburetor, fuel

hose, or tank during storage. Also, alcohol

blended fuels (called gasohol or using

ethanol or methanol) can attract moisture

which leads to separation and formation of

acids during storage. Acidic gas can dam-

age the fuel system of an engine while in

storage,

• Empty the fuel tank by starting the en-

gine and letting it run until the fuel lines

and carburetor are empty_

• Never use engine or carburetor cleaner

products in the fue! tank or permanent

damage may occur,

• Use fresh fuel next season,

NOTE: Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable

alternative in minimizing the formation of

fuel gum deposits during storage. Add

stabilizer to gasoline in fuel tank or stor-

age container. Always follow the mix ratio

found on stabilizer container. Run engine

at least 10 minutes after adding stabilizer

to allow the stabilizer to reach the carbure-

tor. Do not empty the gas tank and carbu-

retor if using fuel stabilizer.

ENGINE OIL

Drain oil (with engine warm) and replace

with clean engine oil. (See "ENGINE" in

the Maintenance section of this manual).

CYLINDER(S)

1. Remove spark plug(s).

2. Pour one ounce of oil through spark

plug hole(s)into cylinder(s).

3. Turn ignition key to start position for a

few seconds to distribute oil.

4. Replace with new spark ptug(s).

OTHER

• Do not store gasoline from one season

to another.

• Replace your gasoline can if your can

starts to rust. Rust and/or dirt in your

gasoline will cause problems.

• If possible, store your tractor indoors

and cover it to give protection from dust

and dirt.

• Cover your tractor with a suitable pro-

tective cover that does not retain mois-

ture. Do not use plastic Plastic cannot

breathe which allows condensation to

form and will cause your tractor to rust.

IMPORTANT: Never cover tractor while

engine and exhaust areas are still warm.

PARA REMOVER EL TRACTOR DE

LA CAJA DE CARTON

DESEMPAQUE LA CAJA DE CARTON

1, Cortar a Io largo de las Ifneas de puntos

en todos los cuatro paneles de cartSn.

Remover los panetes de cierre y aplanar los

paneles laterales.,

2. Remueva el embafage de cart6n del cap6 y

de la rejflta.

IMPORTANTE: Revise y remueva todas las

grampas en la corredera porqoe pueden per-

forar las Ilantas en donde el tractor tiene que .......

rodar pare salirse de ella,

COMO PREPARAR SU TRACTOR

VERIFIQUE LA BATERIA

1. Levante la base del asiento ala posici6n le-

vantada y abra la puerta de caja de bater[a,

AVISO: SIesta bateria esta utilizada despu_s

del rues y aSo indicado sobre la etiqueta (la

etiqueta que se, encuentra entre los terminales),

cargue la batena pot un mmimo de una hora

a 6-10 amps. (Vea "Baterie" en la secci6n de

Mantenimento de este manual),

AJUSTE EL ASIENTO

1. Si6ntese sobre el asiento,

2, Levante la palanca del ajuste (A) hacia erriba

y mueva el asiento hasta que alcance una

posici6n c6moda qua le permita pre-

sionar completamente sobre e} pedal del

embrague/freno,

& Desconecte la palanca pare trabar el asiento

en la posici6n.

PARA HACER RODAR EL TRACTOR

FUERA DE LA CORREDERA (Vea la

secci6n de la operaci6n para la Iocali-

dad y ia funcibn de los controles)

1, Apdete la manilla de levantamtento del

pist6n y. levante la palanca de levantamien-

to del accesorio a su posici6n m&s alta,

2, Suette et freno de estacionamiento presion-

ando el pedal del frenoo

& Ponga el control de la rueda Iibre en la

posici6n de giro Iibre para desenganchar

la transmisi6n, (Vea "PARA TRANSPOR-

TAR" en la secci6n de Operaci6n de este

manual), (Vea "PARA TRANSPORTAR" en

la secci6n de Operacion de este manual),

& Haga rodar el tractor hacia delante fuera de

la corredera,

5, Remueva las bandas qua sujetan la protec-

ci6n contra la descarga en contra del trac-

tor,

REMOVER EL TRACTOR DE LA PLATA-

FORMA (Vea ia seccibn de la oper-

aci6n para la localidad y ta funci6n de

los controles)

1. Asegurarse que se hayan completado toda

las fases del montaje,

2, Controlar el nivel del aceite en el motor y

llenar el depSsito con gasolina,

3, Colocar e! control de la rueda libre en la

posiciSn "transmisi6n ocupada"

4, Asentarse en la posici6n de guia, bajar el

pedal franc y colocar el franc de mano,

5, Apretar el _mbolo de la palanca de le-

vantamtento y levantar el dtspositivo de ta

palanca de levantamiento hasta su posici6n

m&s alta.

6, Tome la ltave de la bolsa y arranque el mo-

tor. (Vet "PARA ARRANCAR EL MOTOR"

en el capffulo de Manejo de este manual),

Despu_s de poner en marcha el motor

mover Eapalanca del gas en posici6n neu-

tra.

7. Quitar el freno de mano.

8 Presione lentamente el pedal de mando

hacia ade}ante y guiar et tractor fuera de la

plataforma,

9, Actuar sobre el freno para parar el tractor y

colocar et freno de mano,

10_Girar la Ilave de encendido en la posici6n

"STOP".

REVISION DE LA PRESlON DE LAS

masiado en la f&bdca por razones de envio,, La

presi6n de las Itantas correctas es importante

para obtener el meior rendimiento en ef code.

• Reduzca la preston de los neum&ticos a la

PSI que se indica en estos,

REVISION DE LA NIVELAClON DEL

CON JUNTO

Para obtener los mejores resultados en el corte,

la caja de la segadora tiene,,que estar nivelada

en la forma adecuada. Vea PARA NIVELAR

LA CAJA DE LA SEGADORA" en la secci6n de

Servicio y.Ajustes de este manual.

REVISION DE LA POSlCION ADECUA-

DA DE TODAS LAS CORREAS

Vea las figuras que aparecen para cambiar las

correas de impulsi6n de la cuchilla de la sega-

dora y de movimiento en la secci6n de Servicio

y Ajustes de este manual Verifique que las

correas sigan su paso correcto.

REVISION DEL SlSTErvIA DE FRENOS

Una vez qua usted haya aprendido a mane-

jar su tractor, verffique qua e! freno funcione

correctamente. Ver "PARA VERIFICAR SI

FUNCIONA BIEN EL FRENO" en el capitulo de

servicio y ajustes de este manual.

de todos los fijadores de las correas,

¢' Revise el alambrado, Fijese qua todas Ias

conexiones todavia esten seguras y qua los

alambres esten sujetos en forma adecuada,

J" Antes de conducir et tractor, asegQrese que

el control de rueda libre este en ta posici6n

de "transmision enganchada" (Vea "PARA

TRANSPORTAR" en la seccion de ta Oper_

act6n de este manual).

AI mismo tiempo que aprende a como usar su

tractor, preste atencion extra a los puntos de

importanciaqua se presentan a continuacion:

ACCESORIO - Se usa para fevantar, bajar y

ajustar el conjunto segador o los dem&s acceso-

tractor y pare hacer arrancar el motor.

La operaci6n de cualquier tractor puede hacer que salten objetos extraSos dentro

de sus ojos, lo qua puede producir daSos graves en 6stos. Siempre use anteojos

de segufidad o protecciones para los ojos mientras opere su tractor o cuando

haga aiustes o reparaciones. Recomendamos gafas de seguridad o una m&scara

de vision amplia de seguridad usada sobre las galas.

COMO USAR SU TRACTOR

PARA AJUSTAR EL FRENO DE ESTACIONA-

MIENTO

Su tractor viene equipado con un interruptor

sensor que exige la presencia dei operador°

Cuando el motor est& funcionando, si el op-

erador trata de bajarse del asiento sin primero.

aplicar el freno de estacionamiento, se apagara

e/motor.

1, Presione el pedal del freno (B) completa-

mente y sostengalo.

2. Jale haeia arriba la palanca del freno de

mano (C) y mant6ngala en esa pesici6n;

suelte gradualmente el pedal del freno (B),

y lueg,o suelte ia palanca del freno de manoo

Asegurese qua el freno de estacionamiento

va a sujetar el tractor en forma segura.

AVI80:Si no se mueve la palanca de mando

entre la posici6n de velocidad media y m&xima

(r&pida), antes de pararse, se puede causar un

"retorno de llama" del motor.

• Gire [a Have de ignici6n (F) a ta posici6n

de apagado "STOP" y remueva la Ilave al

abandonar el tractor para evitar el uso no

autorizado.

IMPORTANTE: Dejando el interruptor de la

ignici6n en cuatquier posici6n otra que "STOP"

causar t que la bateria se descargue (muerta).

AVISO: Bajo ciertas condiciones, cuando el

tractor est& parado con el motor andando en

vacio, los gases de escape del motor caliente

pueden hacer que el c6sped se ponga "car&"

Para eliminar esta posibiIidad, siempre pare

et motor cuando pare el tractor en &reas con

c_sped,

_PRECAUCION: Siempre pare et tractor

completamente, seg_n se ha descrito anteri-

ormente, antes de abandonar la posici6n de1

operador.

MOVERSE HACIA ADELANTE Y HACIA

ATRAS

La direcct6n y la velocidad de movimtentos

est&n controtados por los pedafes de marcha

adelante y atr&s,

1. Poner en marcha el tractor y quitar el freno

de mano.

2. Apretar lentamente el pedal marcha adel-

ante (K) y a,tras (L) para iniciar el mov-

imiento. Masse aprieta el pedal y mayor es

la velocidad.

UTILIZAR El.. MANDO CRUCERO

El mando crucero se puede utilizar s61o durante

la marcha hacia adelante.

CARACTERiSTICAS TECNICAS

El control de velocidad crucero s6lo debe

usarse mlentras el tractor est6 en labores de

siega o transpor_aci6n, movi6ndose sobre

superficies qua est6n relativamente planas y

rectas

Otras condiciones de trabajo, como la poda,

que requiere velocidades bajas, podr[an

desengranar el control de velocidad crucero.

No emplee el control de velocidad crucero

mientras ef tractor se desptaza por elevaciones,

terrenos escarpados o mientras et tractor est#

en labores de poda o virando.

_, Con e! pedal (K) de marcha adelante

apretado a la vetocidad deseada, mover ta

patanca de mando de crucero hacia adel-

ante basra ta posicibn "SET" y manteneda

mientras se levanta el pie del pedal, luego

soltar la palanca (J) de mando de crucero.

Para desconectar el mando de crucero, e

pujar la palanca hacia atr&s en la posici6n

"OFF", o apretar completamente el pedal del

freno.

PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE CORTE DE

LA SEGADORA

La posici6n de la palanca elevadora (A) deter-

mtna a c u6 altura se cortar& el c_sped.

• Coloque la pa[anca elevadora en la ranura

de la attura deseada.

La gama de la altura de corte es de aproxima-

damente 1 a 4 pulgadas° Las alturas se miden

desde el suelo a la punta de la cuchitla cuando

el motor no est& funcionando. Estas alturas

son aproximadas y pueden variar dependi-

endo de las cond(ciones del suelo, de la altura

del c6sped y dot tipo del c6sped qua se est&

segando.

• El c6sped promedio debe cortarse aproxima-

damente a 2-1/2 pulgadas durante la tem-

porada frfa y sobre 3 pulgadas durante los

mesas cafurososo Para obtener un c_sped

m_.s safudable y de mejor apariencia, siegue

a menudo y despu6s de un crecimtento

moderado.

• Para obtener el major rendimiento de corte,

el c_sped que tiene mAs de 6 pulgadas de

aJtura debe segarse dos veces. Haga el

primer corte relativamente alto; el segundo a

la altura deseada.

PARA AJUSTAR LAS RUEDAS CALIBRADO-

RAS

Las ruedas calibradoras est&n bien ajustadas

cuando se encuentran un poco a distancla deI

terreno al mismo tlempo que la segadora est6

a la altura de corte deseada, Entonces las rue-

alas caltbradoras mantienen el conjunto segador

en posici6n para prevenir el corte raspeo en

casi todos los terrenos,

AVISO: Ajuste las ruedas catibradoras con el

tractor en una superficie nivelada plana.

1_ Ajuste la segadora a la altura de corte

deseada con la manllta de ajuste de attura

(Vea "PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE

CORTE DE LA SEGADOR,_' en la secci6n

de Operaci6n de este manual).

2. Con la segadora a la altura deseada para la

posici6n de corte, se tienen qua montar ias

ruedas catibradoras de modo qua queden

un poco sobre el suelo Instate las ruedas

calibradoras en el agujero adecuado con el

perno con resatto, la arandela de 3/8, y [a

tuerca de seguridad de 3/8-t6 y apri6telos

en forma segura,

3. Repita el procedimiento para el lado

opuesto instalando la rueda calibradora en

et mismo agujero de ajuste.

PARA OPERAR LA SEGADORA

Su tractor viene equipada con un interruptor

sensor qua exige la presencia del operador. Si

e{ motor esta funcionando y el embrague det

accesorio estA enganchado y el operador trata

de bajarse del asiento, se apagar& el motor.

Tiene que mantenerse sentado compteta y

centralmente en el asiento pare impedir qua el

motor vacile o se apague cuando se opera su

equipo en terreno disparejo, &spero o en cerros_

1. Seleccione la altura de corte deseada

2, Baje la segadora con el control de levanta-

miento del accesorio,

3. Haga arrancar las cuchillas de la segadora

enganchando et control del embrague del

accesorio,

PARA PARAR LAS CUCHILLAS DE LA SEGA-

DORA- desenganche el controt del embrague

del accesorio°

_PRECAUCI()N: No opere la segadora sin,

ya sea, el recogedor de c_sped completo en las

segadoras asi equipadas o con la protecci6n

contra la descarga (S) en su lugar.

FUNCIONAMIENTO ATRi_S

Tu tractor est& equipado con el Sistema de

Funcionamlento AtrAs (ROS). Cualquier tenta-

tive del operador de viaiar marcha etr&s con el

embrague puesto apagar& el motor a menos

que la tlave de ignici6n se ponga en la posici6n

de "ON" del ROS.

ATENCION: tr marcha atr&s con el embrague

puesto pare cortar, no es recomendable,

Poniendo el ROSen posici6n "ON", pare

permitir el funcionamiento atr&s con el

embrague puesto, se tiene qua hacer s61o

cuando el operador Io constdera necesario

para reposicionar la m#,quina con el dispositivo

embragado. No siegue en raves a manes que

sea absolutamente neceeario,

USAR EL S1STEMA DE FUNC1ONAMIENTO

ATRAS-

Utilice e! tractor solamente siest& seguro de

que no ingresar&n niSos ni otras personas

o animales al &rea donde se va a cotter el

c_sped.

1o Presionar el pedal freno hasta el rondo,

2. Con el motor en marcha, girar [a llave del

interruptor de la ignici6n en el sentido

inverso al de las agujas del reloj haste la

posici6n "ON".

3 Mire hacia abajo y hacia atr&s no s61o

antes de ir marcha atr&s, sine mientras est_

yendo marcha atr&s,

4. Presione lentamente el pedal reverso de la

impulsiSn pare comenzar el movimiento.

Cuando el uso del ROSes m&s necesario,

d_ vuelta ala tlave de igniciSn en el senttdo

de las agujas del reloj haste la posici6n

"ON'L

PARA OPERAR EN CERROS

AADVERTENCIA: No maneje hacia arriba o

hacia abajo en cerros con pendientes superio-

res a t5 ° y no maneje atravesando ninguna

pendiente. Utitice la guia de la pendiente

proporcionada en la parte posteriora de este

manual.

• Escoja ta verocidad m&s lenta antes de ar-

rancar hacia arriba o hacia abajo en cerros,

. Evite parar o cambiar ta velocidad en cerros.

• Si es absolutamente necesario el parar,

empuje el pedal de freno r_pidamente ala

posici6n de freno y enganche el freno de

estacionamiento.

•Para volver a empezar con el movimiento,

suelte lentamente, el freno de estaciona-

miento y el pedal de freno,

• Apretar despacio et pedal apropiado hasta la

posici6n mas lenta,

• Gire siempre ientamente,

PARA TRANSPORTAR

Cuando empuje o arrastre su tractor asegSrese

de desenganchar la transmisi6n poniendo

el control de la rueda libre en la posici6n de

marcha de rueda libre. El control de marcha de

rueda libre esta situado en la barra de tracci6n

trasera del tractor,

1. Levante la palanca de levantamiento del ac-

cesorio a la posici6n m&s alta con et control

de levantamiento del accesorio,

2. Tire det mando de la rueda libre hacla

afuera y hacia abajo haste que se coloque

en la guia y su61talo de manera que se man-

tenga en Ia posici6n de desenganchada.

• No empuje o arrastre el tractor a m&s de dos

(2) MPH,.

• Pare volver a acctonar la transmisi6n, invierta

este procedimiento,

AVlSO: Para proteger el cap6 contra el dafio

cuando transporte su tractor en un cami6n o re-

molcador, aseg_rese queet cap6 est_ cerrado

y asegurado al tractor. Use los medios apropia-

dos pare amarrar el cap6 al tractor (cuerdas,

cordeles, etc.).

REMOLQUE DE CARRETILLAS O OTROS

ACGESORIOS

Remolque solamente los accesorios recomem

dados y especificados por el fabricante del trac-

tor. Use sentido comun cuado este remoicando_

una pendiente, son peligrosas, las llantas pu-

MECANISMO DE AVISO DE SERVlClO /

CRONOMETRO

Et mecanismo de aviso de servicio muestra el

nSmero total de bores que ha estado en funcio-

namiento el motor, y se enciende y seapaga de

manera intermitente cuando el motor o la cor-

tadora necesitan servicio. Cuando se requiere

servicio, el mecanismo de aviso de servicio se

enciende y seapaga intermitentemente por un

lapso de dos horas. Para hacerles el servicio

al motor y ala cortadora, lea el capituto de

Mantenimiento de este manual,

NOTA: El dispositivode aviso de servicio

funciona cuando la llave de ignici6n o arranque

se encuentra en cualquier posici6n menos

en "STOP" ("PARE"). A fin de garantizar la

precisi6n de la lectura, aseg_rese de que el

arranque permanezca en la posici6n "STOP"

cuando el motor est_ apagado.

ANTES DE HACER ARRANCAR EL

MOTOR

REVISE EL NIVEL DE ACEITE DEL MOTOR

El motor en su tractor ha sido enviado desde la

f&brica lieno con aceite de calidad pare verano.

1. Revise el aceite del motor con el tractor en

terreno nivetado.

2. Remueva la tapalvarilla indicadora de nivel

de retleno dei aceite y limpielas, vuelva

a inserter la variIla indicadora de nivet y

atorni]le la tape haste que quede apre-

tada, espere por unos cuantos segundos,

remu_vala y lea el nivet det aceite. Si es

necesario, agregue aceite hasta que se

haya alcanzado la marca lleno (FULL) en

la varilla indicadora de nivel. No Io llene

demasiado,

• Pare la operaci6n en clima frio, debe cambiar

el aceite pare poder arrancar m&s f&cilmente

(Vea "Table de Viscosidad Del Aceite" en la

secci6n de Mantenimento de este manual),

• Pare cambiar el aceite del motor, yea la sec-

ci6n de Mantentmento en este manual.

AGREGUE GASOLINA

• Llene el estanque de combustible. Llene has-

ta la parte inferior del cuello de re!leno del

estanque de gasolinao No Io llene demasiado

Use gasoline, regular, sin plomo, nueva y lim-

pie con el mmimo de 87 octanos (El uso de

gasolina con plomo aumentar& los dep6sitos

de 6xido de plomo y carbono y se reducir& la

duracion de la valvula) No mezcle el aceite

con la gasolinao Para asegurar que la gaso-

lina utilizada sea fresca compre estanques

los cuales puedan ser utilizados durante Ios

_(_primeros 30 dies,

PREGAUCION: Limpie el aceite o et com-

bustible derramadoo No almacene, derrame o

use gasoline cerca de una llama expuesta.

IMPORTANTE: Cuando se opere en temperatu-

ras por debajo de 32°F (0°C) use gasolina de

inviernolimpia y nueva pare auedar a asegurar

un buen arra,nque en clime frlo.

PREGAUOION: Combustibles mezclados con

alcohol (conocidos como gasohol, o el uso de

etanol o metano 0 pueden atraer la humedad,

la que conduce ala separaci6n y formaci6n de

ac!dos durante el almacenamiento. La gasoline

amdica puede daSar el sistema det combustible

de un motor durante el almacenamiento. Pare

evitar los problemas con el motor, se debe vack

ar el sistema de combustible antes de guardarlo

por un periodo de 30 dias o re&s. Vacie el

estanque de combustible, haga arrancar el

motor y h&galo funcionar haste que las lineas

del combustible y el carburador queden vacios

La pr6xima temporada use combustible nuevo.

Vea las Instrucciones pare el Almacenamiento

_imaram&s informaci6n. Nunca use productosde

pieza pare el motor o pare el carburador en

el estanque del combustible pues se pueden

producir dafios permanenteso

PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTOR

AI hacer arrancar et motor por la primera vez o

si se ha acabado el combustible del motor, se

necesitar& tiempo para el arranque extra para

mover el combustible desde el estanque haste

el motor.

1. Asegt3rese que el control de rueda libre

este en la posiciSn enganchada.

2. Si@ntaseen el sill6n en la posiciSn de

operaciSn, suelte et pedal del freno y ponga

el freno de estactonamtento.

3. Mueva el embrague del accesorio ala

posici6n desenganchado disengaged.

4. Mueva el control de la aceleraci6n ala

posici6n de r&pido.

5, Tire el control de estrangulaci6n ala

posiciSn de estrangulacJSn para el arranque

de un motor frio. Para e! arrancar un motor

caliente el uso del control de ta estrangu-

laci6n puede que no sea necesario.

AVISO: Antes de arrancar, lea las instruccio-

nes sigutentes pare el arranque en clime frio y

templado.

8. Inserte la llave en la ignici6n y gire la Ilave

en el sentido qua giran las manillas del reloj

a Ia posici6n de arranque start, y suette la

llave tan pronto como arranque et motor.

No haga funcionar el arrancador continu-

amente por m&s de quince segundos por

minuto. Si el motor no arranca despu_s de

varios intentarIos, mueva el control de la

estrangulaci6n hacia adentro, espere unos

cuantos minutos y trate de nuevo. Si el mo-

tor sigue sin funcionar, estire del control de

la estrangulaci6n y trate de nuevo.

ARRANQUE CON TIEMPO TEMPLADO (50°

Y MAS)

7. Cuando arranque el motor, empuje el con-

trol de la estranguiaci6n haste que el motor

empiece a functonar m&s suavemente. Si

el motor empieza a funcionar mal, estire

del control de la estrangulaci6n un poce

por unos cuantos segundos y entonces

continu_ a empujar lentamente el control

• Los accesorios y el embrague de suelo

ahora puede ser utilizados. Si el motor no

acepta esta carga, vuelva a arrancar e{ motor

pare permitirle que se caliente pot un minuto,

utilizando el estrangulador como describido

arriba.

ARRANQUE CON TIEMPO FRiO (50° Y

MENOS)

8. Cuando arranque el motor, empuje lenta-

mente el control de la estranguiaci6n hacia

adentro hasta que el motor empiece a

funcionar suavemente, Siga empuj&ndolo

poco a poco permitiendo que el motor acepte

pequeSos cambios de velocidad y carga,

haste que este completamente hacfa aden-

tro, Si el motor empieza a funcionar mai, as-

tire del control de la estrangulaci6n un poco

por unos cuantos segundos y continSe a

empujar el control hacia adentro. Esto puede

requerir qua el motor se caliente por unos

cuantos minutos, depende de la temperature.

CALENTAMIENTO PARA LA TRANSMISION

AUTOMATICA

Antes de conducir la unidad en un tiempo frio,

la transmisi6n debe set calentada como tas

instrucciones siguientes:

1. Aseg_rese qua el tractor este situado en

una superficie nivelada,

2_ Ativie el freno de estacionamiento y deje

que el freno vuelva ala posici6n de oper-

aci6n,

& Permita que la transmisi6n se caliente

durante un minutoo Esto puede set echo du_

rante el tiempo de calentamiento del motor.

• Los accesorios pueden ser utilizados durante

e! periodo del recaientamiento del mo-

tor despu6s qua la transmisi6n halle sido

caientada y puede requerir qua el control de

la estrangulaci6n sea estirado un poco.

3000 pies) o en clime frio (por debajo de 32°F

debeser ajustada para et mejor rendimiento

JRGAR LA TRANSMISION

PRECAUClON: Nunca enganche o desem

ganche la palanca del control de rueda libre

cuando et motor esta funcionando.

Pare asegurar la operaci6n y ejecuci6n adec-

uada, es recomendado que la transmision sea

purgada antes de operar e! tractor para la prim-

era vez. Este proceso remover& cualquier aire

adentro de la transmisi6n que se halle formado

durante el transporte de su tractor.

IMPORTANTE: Si por acaso su transmJsi6n

debeser removida pare servicio o reemplazo,

debeser purgada despu6s de la reinstataci6n y

antes de operar el tractor.

!. Pare mayor seguridad, ubique el tractor

en una superficie nivelada, despejada de

cualquier objeto y abierta, con el motor

apagado y el freno de mano puesto

2. Desenganche la transmisi6n poniendo el

control de rueda tibre en la posici6n de

desenganchado (Vea "PARA EL TRANS-

PORTE" en esta secci6n de este manual).

3. Sentado en el asiento del tractor, empiece

el motor. Despu_s que este cordendo el

motor, mueva el control de estrangulaci6n

ala posici6n de lente_ Quitar el freno de

mane,

_._PRECAUCI6N" En el transcurso del paso 4,

puede que de pronto se pongan en movimiento

las ruedas.

4, Apretar el pedal de marcha adelante haste

el fondo, mantener por cinco (5) segundos y

soltar el pedal, Apretar el pedal de marcha

atr&s haste el fondo, mantener pot cinco

(5) segundos y soltar el pedal. Repetir el

procedimiento tres (3) veces.

& Apague el motor y embrague el freno de

estacionamiento.

6. Enganche la transmisi6n poniendo el

control de rueda IJbre en la posici6n de

conducir (Vea "PARA TRANSPORTAR" en

esta secci6n de! manual).

7. Sentado en el asiento del tractor, empiece

el motor. Despu_s qua este corriendo el

motor, mueva eFcontrol de estrangulaci6n

media (1/2) vetocida& Quitar el freno de

mano

8o Conduzca su tractor hacia adelante durante

aproximadamente cinco pies y entonces

hacia marcha atr&s cinco pies (t50 cm),

Repita este proceso tres (3) veces,

Su transmisi6n esta ahora purgado y dispuesto

pare la operaci6n normal,

CONSEJOS PARA SEGAR

- No se pueden user las cadenas para tas

Ilantas cuando la caja de la segadora est&

adjunta al tractor.

- La segadora debe ester nivelada en forma

adecuada pare obtener et major rendimiento

al sager, Vea "PARA NIVELAR LA CAJA DE

LA SEGADORA*' en la seccl6n de Servicio y

Ajustes de este manual

• El lado izquierdo de la segadora se debe

usar para recorte.

• Maneje de modo qua los recedes se descar-

guen en el &rea que ya ha sido cortada. Man-

tenga et &tea de corte ala derecha del tractor.

Esto producir& una distribuci6n mAs pareja de

los recortes y un corte m&s unfforme.

• AI sager las &tea grandes, empiece girando

ala derecha de modo qua los recortes se

descarguen, elej&ndose de los arbustos, cer-

cos, entradas de automSviles, etc. Despu_s

de una o dos vueltas, siegue en la direcci6n

opuesta, haciendo virajes ala }zquierda,

haste que termine,

• Si el c6sped est& demasiado alto, se debe

segar dos veces pare reducir la carga y los

posibtes peligros de incendio debido a Eos

recortes secos Haga el primer corte relative-

manta alto; el segundo ala altura deseada.

• No siegue el c_sped cuando est& mojado.

El c_sped mojado taponar& la segadora y

dejar& montones indeseables. Permita qua

se seque el c_sped antes de segarlof

• Siempre opere el motor con una aceler-

aci6n completa cuando siegue pare ase-

gurarse de conseguir un mejor rendtmtento

y une descarga apropiada de los materiales.

Regule la velocidad de recorrido selecciona-

ndo un cambio Io suficientemente bajo para

obtener un rendimiento de corte de parte de

su segadora y tambi_n la calidad deecorte

deseada.

, Cuando opera con accesorios, seleccione

una velocidad de recorrido que se acomode

al terreno y le permita obtener el mejor ren-

dimtento deeaccesorio qua se est_ usando.

los que han estado sujetos al abuse o a la neg-

de la garantia, el operador tiene qua mantener

la segadora segQn las instrucciones descritas

en este manual,

Hay algunos ajustes que se tienen que hacer

en forma peri6dica para poder mantener su

tractor adecuadamente.

AI manes una vez cada estaci6n comprobar

si es necesario efectuar Ios adjustes descritos

en las secciones de Servicio y Ajustes de este

manual.

• Una vez al argo, cambie ta bujia, fimpie o

cambie el filtro de aire y revise si las cuchillas

y las correas est&n desgastadas. Una bujia

nueva y un fiitro de airs limpio aseguran una

mezcla de aire-combusfible adecuada y Ie

ayudan a que su motor funcione meier y que

CUIDADO DE LA CUOHILLA

Para ebtener resultados 6ptimos, las cuchil-

las de la cortadora deben estar afiladas.

Reemplace las cuchillas que est6n gastadas,

dobladas o daSadas.

REMOOION DE LA CUOHILLA

1. Levante la segadora a su posici6n m&s alta

pare permitir el acceso afas cuchillas,

AVISO: Proteja sus manos con guantes y/o

envuelva ta cuchitla con una tela gruesa_

2. Remueva el perno de la cuchilla dandole

vueltas en el sentido inverso al de las agu-

jas del retoj.

3. Instate la nueva cuchitla con el estampado

'q'HIS SIDE UP" en la direccton de la saga-

dora y del cenjunto del mandril.

IMPORTANTE: Para asegurar la instalacion

apropiada, posicione el agujero central de la

cuchilla con la estrella de/conjunto deJ mandril.

4. Instale y apriete el perno de la cuchilla

aceite.

PARA CAMBIAR EL ACEITE DEL MOTOR

Determine la gama de la temperatura esperada

antes de cambiar el aceite. Todo el aceite debe

cumptir con la clasificaci6n de servicio API

• Recoja el aceite en un envase adecuado,

FILTRO DE COMBUSTIBLE EN LINEA

El fittro de combustible debe cambiarse una

vez cada temporada. Si el fiitro de combustible

se tapona, obstruyendo el flujo del combustible

hacia el carburador, es necesario cambiarlo.

1, Con el motor ifio, remueva el filtro y tapone

las secciones de la linee de combustible_

2. Ponga el fiitro de combustible nuevo en su

posici6n en la i[nea de combustible con la

flecha sef_alando hacia el carburador

3. Aseg_rese de que no hayan fugas en [a

linea del combustible y qua las grapes

LIMPIEZA DE LA REJtLLA DE AIRE

La rejilla de alre debe mantenerse sin mugre

y paja pare evitar el da,f_o al motor debido el

sobrecalentamiento, bmpiela con un cepilio de

alambre o con aire comprimido pare remover ta

mugre y las flbras de goma secas, pegadas.

LIMPIEZA DE LA ENTRADA DE AIRE/AREAS

DE ENFRIAMIENTO

Para asegurar un enfriamiento adeeuado,

aseg_rese qua la rejilla del c_sped, las aletas

de enfriamiento, y otras superficies externas del

motor se mantengan limpias en todo memento.

Cada 100 horas do operaci6n (m&s a menudo

bajo condiciones extremadamente polvorosas

o sucias), remueva la caja del ventilador y otras

tapas de enfriamiento. Limpie las aletas de en-

friamiento y [as superficies externas, seg_n sea

necesarto. Aseg[3rese que se vuelvan a instalar

las tapes de enfriamiento.

LIMPIEZA

• Limpie todo material extra_o de! motor, la

bateria, el asiento, el pulido, etco

• Mantenga las superficies pulidas y las rue-

das sin derrames de gasolina, aceite, etc.

• Proteja las superficies pintadas con cera tipo

El ague en el motor y la transmisi6n acortan la

vide util del tractor. Utilizer aire comprimido o un

soplador de hojas pare remover hierba, hojas y

1_ Presione el pedal de freno completamente y aplique el freno de estacionamiento,

2. Ponga el embrague del accesorio en ta posici6n desenganchado (DISENGAGED).

PARA DESMONTAR LA CORTADORA

DE CESPED

1, Suelte el embrague poni_ndolo en la

posici6n "DISENGAGED" ("DESACTtVA*

DO"),

2. Baje la palanca elevadora de montaje a la

posici6n de m&s abajo

3. Ruede la correa de polea del motor (M) y

fijadors de la correa (G).

4. Retire e! resorte de sujeci6n (K), deslice la

abrazadera (L) hasta quitarla, y saque a

presi6n la guia de la caja (P) hasta qua se

salga del sopoNe.

5. Retire el resorte del cable del embrague (Q)

del braze del engranaje (R).

6. Desconecte la pieza de uni6n anterior (E)

de la cortadora- retire el resorte de conten-

ci6n y la arandela,

7. Por uno de los lados de la cortadora,

desconecte el braze de suspensi6n de

la cortadora (A) del chasis y la pieza de

uni6n posterior (C) de la barra posterior

de la cortadora (D) - retire los resortes de

_t_cOntenci6n y las arandelas.

UIDADO: Una vez que se desconecten

las piezas de uni6n posteriores, la palanca et-

evadora funcionar& a resorte, Sujete con fuerza

la palanca efevadora al cambiarla de posici6n.

8. Deslice la cortadora por debajo del lado

derecho del tractor,

IMPORTANTE: Si se monta un accesorio dife-

rente del cortacSsped al tractor, hay qua quitar

et estribo frontal (E) y los estdbos traseros de

elevaci6n (C) del tractor y enganchar el resorte

de embrague (Q) en la guia del cable en el

borde frontal del salplcadero mAs bajo..

INSTALE LA SEGADORA

Asegtirese de qua el tractor se encuentre en

una superficie nivelada, y ponga el ffeno de

mano.

I. Haga descender la palanca elevadora a su

posici6n m&s baja.

i_, CUIDADO: La palanca elevadora funciona

a resorte. Suj6tela con fuerza, h&gala de-

scender lentamente y tr&nquela en la posici6n

m&s baja,

NOTA: Cerci6rese de qua los brazos de sus-

pensi6n de los lados de la segadora (A) est_n

dirigidos hacta adelante antes de deslizarla per

2, Deslice la SEGADORA pot debajo del trac-

tor hasta qua quede bien centrada debajo

de 6ste.

3. FIJE LOS BRAZOS DE SUSPENSION

LATERALES DE LA CORTADORA (A)

AL CHASIS - Ubique el orificio del brazo

encima de la clavija (B) qua hay en la parte

exterior del chasis del tractor, y ffjelo con

una resorte de contenci6n.

4o Realice el mismo procedimiento en el otro

lado de1tractor.

FIJE LAS PIEZAS DE PROPULSION POS-

TERIORES (C) - Levante la parle posterior

de la cortadora, ubique ta ranura de la pieza

de uni6n (D) por encima de la clavija que

hay en la barra posterior de la cortadora

y fijela con una arande[a y un resorte de

contenci6n,

FIJE LA PIEZA DE UNION ANTERIOR (E)

-Trabaje por el lada izquierdo del tractor,

Introduzca el extremo de la barra de ta

pieza de uni6n por el orificio anterior de la

barra de suspensi6n anterior del tractor (F),

y suj6telo por medio de un resorte de con-

tenci6n (G) a trav6s deI orificio de la pieza

de uni6n ubicada detr&s de la barra,

7, Introduzca el etra extremo de la pieza de

uniSn (E) en el orificio que se encuentra en

la barra anterior de la cortadora (H), y fijelo

por medio de una arandela y un resorte de

contenci6n (J),

8. Retire el resorte del cable del embrague (Q)

del brazo del engranaje (R),

9. Retire el resorte de sujeci6n (K), deslice la

abrazadera (L) hasta quitarla, y saque a

prest6n la guia de la caja (P) basra que se

salga del soporte,

10, lnstale la correa pas&ndota pcr encima de la

polea del motor (M) y fijadors de la correa (G).

IMPORTANTE' Verifique que la correa encaje

bien en todas tas ranuras de las poleas de la

cortadora.

11, Suba la palanca elevadora a la postci6n de

m&s arriba.

12, Si es necesario, ajuste las rueditas del

calibre antes de poner en funcionamiento la

cortadora, como se ilustra en el capitulo de

Manejo de este manual

PARA NIVELAR LA SEGADORA

Aseg_rese de que los neum&ticos est_n infla-

dos a la PSI qua se indica en estos. Si est&n

demasiado inflados o poco inflados, e[ c6sped

no le quedar& bien cortado, Io cuat podr&

Ilevarlo a pensar que la SEGADORA no est&

bien regulada.

REGULACION VISUAL DE LADO A LADO

1. Si todos los neum&ticos est&n correcta-

mente tnflados y el c6sped parece haber

quedado cortado desparejo, determine qu6

lado de la cortadora est& cortando m&s al

ras.

2, Con una Iiave ingfesa de 3/4" o de calibre

regulable, haga girar hacia la izquierda ta

tuerca de ajuste de la plaza de uni6n (A)

para bajar lade izquierdo la cortadora, o

bien h&gala girar hacia lado derecho la

derecha para subirla.

NOTA: Cada vuelta completa de la tuerca

de ajuste har& variar la altura de la cortadora

3. Pruebe la regulaci6n realizada cortando

c6sped qua aQn no haya cortado y obser-

vando c6mo queda. Vuelva a ajustar, en

caso necesario, hasta obtener resultados

satisfactorios,

REGULACION DE LA PRECISION DE LADO

A LADO

1_ Con todos los neum&ticos correctamente

inflados, estacione el tractor a nivel del

suelo o en la entrada a la casa,

OUIDADO: Las cuchilIas son afiladas, Pro-

t6jase las manos con guantes o envuelva las

cuchillas con tela gruesa, o bien haga ambas

cosas,

2. Suba la SEGADORA a la posici6n m&s aita,

3. A ambos lades de la cortadora, ubique la

cuchilla hacia un lado y mida la distancia

(A) que hay entre el borde inferior de la

cuchil]a y et suelo. Dicha distancia debeser

la mfsma a ambos lados.

4, En caso qua sea necesario reaiizar un

ajuste, lea los paso 2 de las instrucciones

de Regulaci6n Visual que aparecen m&s

arriba.

5. Vueiva a vedficar las medidas y ajuste

nuevamente, en case necesario, hasta que

ambos lados queden iguales,

AJUSTE DE DELANTE A ATRAS

IMPORTANTE: El piso debe quedar bien nive-

fado de lado a lado.

Para queet c6sped Ie quede perfectamente

cortado, las cuchillas de la cortadora deben

ajustarse de ta! manera qua Ia punta anterior

quede t/8" a 1/2" m&s abajo que la punta pos-

terior cuando la cortadora se encuentre en su

,_sici6n m&s alta,

CUIDADO: Las cuchiltas son afiiadas. Pro-

t6jase tas manos con guantes o envuelva las

cuchillas con tela gruesa, o bien haga ambas

cosas.

• Suba la SEGADORA a la posici6n m&s alta.

• Ubique cuatquiera de las hojas de la cuchifla

de tat manera que la punta quede apuntando

directamente hacia adelante, Mida la distan-

cia (B) que hay entre la punta anterior y el

suelo y entre Ia punta posterior y et suelo,

Si la punta antedor de ta hoja de la cuchilla

no est& 1t8" a 112"m&s abajo que la punta

posterior, dir{jase a la parte de adelante del

tractor.

Con una Ilave ingtesa de 11/16" o de calibre

regutable, afloje la tuerca A, d&ndote varias

vueJtas para despejar la tuerca de ajuste B.

Con una Ilave inglesa de 3/4" o de calibre

regulable, haga girar la tuerca de ajuste de la

pieza de uni6n anterior (B) en sentido horatio

(ajustar) para elevar Ia parte de adelante de

la cortadora, o bien en sentido antihorario

(aflojar) para bajarta

1/8" a 1/2" m&s abajo qua la punta posterior.

• Mantenga en la posici6n la tuerca de ajuste

por medio de una tlave ingiesa, y apriete bien

la tuerca contra dicha tuerca de ajuste,

PARA FIEEMPLAZAR LA CORREA DE

TRANSMISION DE LA CUCHILLA DE LA

SEGADORA

DESMONTAJE DE LA CORREA DE TRANS_

MISlON DE LA SEGADORA

1. Estacione el tractor en una superficie nive-

fada. Ponga el freno de mano.

2, Baje la palanca elevadora a la posici6n de

m&s abajo.

& Quite toda suciedad y restos de hierbas qua

pueda haberse acumulado alrededor de

los dispositivos de recolecci6n y de toda la

superficie superior.

4_ Retire la correa de la polea dei embrague

el6ctrico (M), Ias dos poleas de los disposi-

tivos de recolecci6n (R) y las poleas de los

pi_ones (S),

MONTAJE DE LA CORREA DE TRANSMIS-

ION DE LA SEGADORA

1, Instale la correa pas_.ndola alrededor de las

poleas (R) y alrededor de las poleas (S),

como se muestra en la figur&

2. Paso la correa par encima de la polea de1

embrague el_ctrico (M).

IMPORTANTE: Verifique que la correa calce

bien en todas las ranuras de las poleas de ia

cortadora,

3. Suba la palanca elevadora a la posici6n de

m&s arriba.

PARA REEMPLAZAR LA CORREA DE

TRANSMISION DE LA FUERZA ELECTRO-

MOTRIZ

Estacione el tractor en una superficie nivetada.

Ponga el freno de mano, Si necesita asisten-

cla, del lado de abajo del apoyapi6s hay una

gufa pr&ctica para el montaje de la correa.

DESMONTAJE DE LA CORREA

1. Desmonte Jacortadora (Ver"PARA

DESMONTAR LA CORTADOR,_' en este

cap[tulo del manual).

NOTE; Observe toda la correa de transmisi6n

de la fuerza electromotriz y la posici6n de todas

las guias y guardacorreas,

2o Retire ta correa dei pi56n estacionario (A) y

del pi56n de embrague (B),

3. Retire ta correa det pir_6n central (C).

6, Jale el cable de la correa hacia la parte

de atr&s del tractor, Con mucho cuidado,

retire la correa de la polea de entrada de

ta transmIsi6n, movi_ndola hacia arriba y

pas&ndola por encima de las paletas del

ventilador (D)..

4. Retire la correa de la polea del motor mov-

i6ndola hacia abajo (E).

5, Desltce la correa hacia la parte de atr&s det

tractor, retirela de Ia pIaca de direcci6n (F) y

quiteia del tractor.

MONTAJE DE LA CORREA

1, Instale la correa nueva de la parte de atr&s

a la parte de adelante del tractor, pas&ndota

pot enctma de la placa de direcciSn (F) y

del v_,stago del pedal del embrague / freno

(G),

2. Jale la correa hacia la parte de adelante del

tractor y p&selo por sobre la polea del motor

(E).

3. Jale la correa hacia la parte de atr&s del

tractor_ Can mucho cuidado, mueva la

correa hacia abajo y p&sela alrededor del

ventilador de transmisi6n y par encima de la

polea de entrada (D),, Cerci6rese de qua la

correa est_ calzada dentro del guardacor-

rea_

4. Cotoque la correa sobre el pi56n central

(C).

5, Pase la correa a trav6s det pi56n estaciona-

rio (A) y del pi56n del embrague (B),

& AsegQrese de que la correa calce en todas

las ranuras de las poleas y dentro de todas

las guias y guardacorreas.

lnstale la SEGADORA (Ver "PARA MON-

TAR LA SEGADOR,_' en este capitulo det

manual).

CONTROLAR Y AJUSTAR EL FRENO

Si el tractor exige m&s de cinca (5) pies pare

pararse a una vetocidad m&s alta en el cambio

m&s alto en una superficie nivelada de hor-

mig6n seco o pavimentada, entonces se debe

controlar y ajustar el freno.

CONTROL DEL FRENO

1. Aparcar el tractor en una superficie nivelada

de hormtg6n seco o pavimentada, presionar

el pedal del freno hasta el fondo y accionar

el freno de estacionamiento.

2. Desembragar latransmisi6n colecando

el mando de la rueda libre en la pos[ciSn

"transmisi6n desembragada'L Tirar el

mando de la rueda tibre fuera y dentro la

ranura y soltar as_ se cofoca en la posici6n

desembragada,

Las ruedas traseras tiene que bloquearse y pa-

tinar cuando se intenta empujar hacia adelante

el tractor manualmenteo Si las ruedas traseras

giran, es necesario ajustar el freno o sustituir

las zapatas_

IMPRESI6N / INCLINACION DE LAS RUE-

DAS DELANTERAS

La impresi6n e inctinaci6n de las ruedas deF

anteras de su nueva tractor vienen asl de f&bri-

ca y son normales. La impresi6n y la inciinaciSn

de tas ruedas delanteras no son regulables. En

case que so praduzca algSn dale que afecte

la impresi6n o la inclinaci6n de las ruedas deh

anteras tel come vinieron de f_brica, p6ngase

en contacto con un centre de servicios Sears u

otro centre de servicios autarizado.

PARA REMOVER LAS RUEDAS PARA

HACER REPARACIONES

1. Bloquee el eje en forma segura.

2, Remueva ta cubierta del eje, el anillo de

retenci6n y las arandelas para permitir la

remoeiSn de las ruedas 0a rueda trasera

contiene una lleve cuadrada - no la pierda).

3, Repare le Ilanta y vu61vala a montan

AVlSO: En las ruedas traseras solamente:

alinee las ranuras en el cube de la rueda

trasera en el e}e. Inserte Ia Ilave cuadrada.

4, Vuelva a colocar las arandetas e inserte el

anillo de retenci6n en forma segura en la

ranura del eje.

5, Vuelva a colocar la cubierta del ejeo

ArIse: Pare arreglar las llantas perforadas

y p_ra prevenir que tenga ltantas pinchadas a

cause de pequeSas fugas, comprar de su com-

merciante Sears y utilizer el selfo pare Ilantas.

Etsello previene que las Ifantas se sequen y

PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTOR CON

UNA BATER_, BAJA

_t_ADVERTENOIA: Las hater[as de &cido-plo-

me generan gases explosive& Mantenga las

chispas, las llamas y los materiales para fumar

alejadas de las baterias. Siempre use una pro-

tecci6n para los ojos alrededor de las baterias.

Si su bateria est,. demasiado baja come pare

hacer arrancar el motor tiene que volverse a

cargar. (Vea "Bateria" en la secciSn de Manten-

imiento de este manual).

Si se usan "cables de empalme" para un

arranque de emergencia, siga este proced-

imiento:

IMPORTANTE: Su tractor esta equipado con

un sistema de 12 volts, El otro vehiculo tambiSn

tiene que tener un sistema de 12 volts. No use

la bateria de su tractor para hacer arrancar a

otros vehiculos.

PARA ADJUNTAR LOS CABLES DE

EMPALME -

1. Conecte cada extremo del cable ROJO con

el terminal (A-B) POSITtVO (+) de cada

bateria, preocup&ndose de no hacer corto-

circuito en el chasis.

2- Conecte un extremo det cable NEGRO

con el terminal (C) NEGATtVO (-) de una

baterfa completamente cargada.

3 Conecte el otro extremo del cable (D) NE-

GRO con un buena CONEXION A T_ERRA

DEL CHASIS, alejado del estanque de

combustible y de la bateria.

PARA REMOVER LOS CABLES, INVIERTA EL

ORDEN

1, El cable NEGRO primero del chasis y luego

de la baterla completamenta cargada,

2, El cable ROJO al t_ltimo de ambas baterias,

REEMPLAZAR LA BATERIA

3, Instale la nueva bater{a con los t6rminos en

misma posici6n como la baterta vieja.

4 Primero, conecte el cabie de la bateria

ROJO con el terminal positivo (+) con el

perno hexagonal y la tuerca seg6n se

muestra. ApriSteios en forma segura. Desl-

ize ta cubierta terminal sobre el terminal

5. Conecte el cable de conexi6n a tierra

NEGRO al terminal negativo (-) con el

perno hexagonal y la tuerca qua queden_

PARA CAMBIAR LA BOMBILLA DE LA LUZ

DELANTERA

1. Levante elcap6.

2, Tire el sujetador de la bombilla fuera del

agujero en la parte trasera del enrejado.

3. Cambie la bombilla en el sujetador y em-

puje el sujetador de la bombilla, en forma

segura, hacia arras en ei agujero en la parte

trasera del enrejado.

4, Cierre el cap6.

1, Levanteel cap5°

2. Desabroche el conector del atambre de las

luces delanteras.

3. P&rese delante del tractor. Agarre el cap5

en los lados, inclinelo un poco hacia el mo-

tor y s&quelo dei tractor.

4. Para volver a instalar el cap6, asegQrese de

volver a conectar el conector de! alambre

de las luces.

MOTOR

El mantenimiento, la reparaci6n, o el reemplazo

de cualquier dispositivos o sistemas del control

de la emision, los cuales seen hechos al costo

del cliente, pueden ser realizados por cualquier

individuo o estabtecimiento de reparaci6n de

motor. Los reparos qua caen bajo garantfa

deben ser realizados por un estabtecimiento

de servicio de reperaci6n de motor autorizado

PARA AJUSTAR EL,CABLE DE CONTROL

DE LA AOELERAGION

El control de la aceleraci6n ha sido preajustado

en le f&brica y no deberia necesitar ajustes, Re-

vise los ajustes que se describen a continuaci6n,

antes de soltar el cable, Si el ajuste es necesario,

proceda segSn lo siguiente:

1. Con et motor sin funcionar, mueva la palanca

de control de ta aceleraci6n desde la posici6n

de lento a la de estrangulaci6n. Lentamente,

mueva la palanca desde le postci6n de es-

trangulaciSn e la de r&pido,

2. Revise que el aguiero en la palanca de la

aceleracion y el agujero en el puntal de control

de le velocidad est_n alineados.

3. Si los agu)eros no Io est&n, suelte el tornilto

de sujecion del cable y alinee los agujeros

insertando un lapi,z o con una broca de bar-

rena de I/4"a traves de ambos agujeros.

4_ Tire el cable de la aceleracion hacia arriba

pare remover la soltura y apriete el tornillo de

sujeci6n del cable. Remueva el laptz o la broca

de la barrena que se uso pare el alineamiento.

PARA AJUSTAR EL CARBURADOR

El carburador ha sido preajustado en la f&brice

y no deberia necesltar ejustes, Sin embargo, se

pueden neces{tar ajustes de manor tmportancia

pare compensar por las diferencias en el combus-

tible, temperature, altura o carga. Si el carburador

necesita ajustes, proceda segt]n Io siguiente:

En general, si se giran tas agujas de ajuste hacia

adentro (an el senttdo de las manillas del reloj)

se disminuye el suministro de combustible qua

vaal motor, entregando una mezcla de com-

bustible/aire mas pobre. Si se giran las agujas

de ajuste hacia afuera (an el Sentido contrario a

las manillas del reloj) se aumenta el suministro

de combustible qua vaal motor entregando

una mezcla de combustible/aire m&s rice.

IMPORTANTE; Se pueden dariar las agujas y los

asientos en el carburador si los torniifos esta muy

apretado hacia adentro,

AVISO: Et caburador de su motor es de emisi6n

baja. Esta equipado con una aguja de ajuste del

combustible en vacfo con un capuch6n Iimitador,

el cual permite ajustes timitados.

No intente remover el capuch6n limitador. El

capuch6n limitador. El capuch6n timitador. No

puede set removido sin que se rompa ta aguja

de ajuste,

1. Asegt_rese que tenga un fittro de aire limpto y

qua el cable de control de la aceleraci6n est#

ajustado en forma adecuada (vea to anterior).

2o Haga arrancar el motor y permita qua se

caliente por cinco minutos. Haga los ajustes

con et motor funcionando y con la palanca de

control de cambio!movimiento en la posbi6n

de neutro (N).

3. Ajuste de velocidad en vacio - Con la palance

de control de ta aceleraci6n en la posici6n de

lento, el motor debe andar en vacio a 1750

RPM Si el motor anda en vacio muy lento o

muy r&pido, gi,re el tornillo de ajuste de la ve-

locidad en vacio hacia adentro o hacia afuera

hasta que se obtenga la velocidad en vac[o

correcta.

4. Ajuste de la aguja del combustible de vacio-

Con la palanca de control de la aceteraci6n

en la posici6n de lento,,gire la aguja de ajuste

del combustible en vaclo hacia adentro (en el

sentido de las maniilas del reloj) haste que el

motor empiece a pararse y luego hacia efuera

(an e! sentido contrario alas manlllas del reloj)

haste qua el motor ende disparejo, G[re la

aguja hasta un punto intermedio entre estas

dos posiciones.

5. Vuelva a reviser ]a velocidad en vamo.

VueJva a ajustarla si es nec_esario_

PRUEBA DE LA ACELERACION-

6, Mueva la palenca de control de la aceleraci6n

desde la posici6n de lento ala de p&pido. Si

el motor titubea o se pare, g!re la aguja de

ajuste de combustible en vacto hacia afuera

(en el sentido contrado a las manillas del reloj)

1/8 de vuelta. Repita la prueba y continue

ajustandola, si es necesario, hasta que el

motor acelera en forma pareja.

Inmedtatamente prepare su tractor para et

almacenamiento al final de ta temporada o si el

tractor no se va a usar por 30 dias o m&s.

_kDVERTENCIA: Nunca almacene el trac-

tor con gasolina en el estanque dentro de un

edificio en donde los gases pueden alcanzar

una llama expuesta o una chispa. Permita que

el motor se enfrie antes de almacenarto en

cualquier recinto privado.

TRACTOR

Cuando el tractor se va a almacenar pot cierto

periodo de tiempo, limpiela cuidadosamente,

quite toda ta mugre, la grasa, las hojas, etc.

Gu&rdela en una area limpia y seca.

1. Limpie todo el tractor (vea "LIMPIEZ_' en la

secci6n de Mantenimiento en este manual).

2. Inspeccione y cambie las correas, si es

necesario (yea las instrucciones para el

cambio de {as correas en la secci6n de

Servicio y Ajustes de este manual).

3. Lubriquelo, segSn se muestra en la secci6n

de Mantenimiento de este manual.

4. Aseg0rese que todas las tuercas, los

pernos y los tornillos est_n sujetados

en forma segura. Inspeccione las partes

movibles para verificar si hay da5o, rotura o

desgaste, C&mbielas si es necesario.

5 Retoque todas superficies pintadas oxida-

das o picadas; aptique lija antes de pintar.

BATERiA

• Cargue la bateria completamente antes de

guardarla.

• Despu_s de cierto periodo de tiempo en

almacenamiento, la bateria puede necesitar

volver a cargarse.

• Para ayudar a evitar la corrosi6n y las fugas

de potencia durante largos periodos de

almacenamiento, se deben desconectar

los cables de la bateria y se debe limpiar

cuidadosamente (yea "PARA LIMPIAR LA

BATERiA Y LOS TERMINALES" en Ia sec-

ci6n de Mantenimientode este manual),

• Despu_s de limpiarla, deje los cables desco-

nectados y p6ngalos en donde no puedan

entrar en contacto con los terminales de ta

bateda.

• Si se remueve la baterla del tractor para el

almacenamiento, no la guarde directamente

sobre concreto o sobre superficies h_'Jmedas.

MOTOR

S!STEMA DE COMBUSTIBLE

IMPORTANTE: Es important evitar que se

forman depositos de goma en partes funda-

mentales del sistema de combus-tibfe tales

como el carburador, el fittro del combustible,

la manguera del combustibles mezclados con

alcohol (conocido como gasohol o que tienen

etanol o metanol) pueden atraer humedad, Io

_ue conduce a la separaci6n y a la formaci6n

e acudos durante elatmacenamiento La

gaso{ina acidica puede dahar el slstema de

combustible de un motor durante el periodo de

aimacenamiento.

• Vaclar el dep6sito dei carburante poniendo

en marcha el motor y dej&ndo{o funcionar

hasta qua el carburante termine e] carbura-

dor est6 vacIo.

• Nunca use los productos para limpieza del

carburador o del motor en el estanque de

combustible pues se pueden producir da_,os

permanentes,

• Use combustible nuevo la pr6xima

temporada.

AVlSO', El estabilizador de combustible es una

affernativa aceptable para reducir a un minimo

la formaci6n de dep6sitos de goma en el com-

bustible durante el periodo de almacenamiento.

Agregue estabilizador a {a gasolina en el

estanque de combustible oen el envase para el

almacenamiento. Siempre siga la proporci6n de

mezcla que se encuentra en el envase de{ esta-

bilizador. Haga funcionar el motor por Io menos

10 minutos despu_s de agregar el estabilizador,

para permitir que _ste Ifegue al carburador, No

vaciar la gasotina del estanque de gasolina y e{

carburador si se est& usando estabilizador de

combustible.

ACEITE DEL MOTOR

Drene el aceite (con el motor caliente) y

c&mbiefo con aceite de motor limp{o, (Vea "MO-

TOR" en {a secci6n de Mantenimiento" de este

manual,)

CILINDRO(S)

1o Remuevala(s) bujia(s).

2. Vacie una onza de aceite a trav6s del

agujero(s) de la bujia en el cilindro(s).

3, Gire la Ilave de ignici6n a la posici6n de 'Ar-

ranque" (Start), por unos cuantos segundos

para dtstribuir el aceite.

4, Cambie por bujia(s) nueva(s).

OTROS

• No guarde la gasolina de una temporada a ia

otra,

• Cambie el envase de la _asolina si se emp-

ieza a oxidar. La oxidacion y/o la mugre en

su gasolina producir&n problemas.

• Si es posible, guarde su unidad en un recinto

cerrado y cSbrala para protegerta contra el

polvo y la mugre.

• Cubra su unfdad con un forro protector

adecuado que no retenga la humedad. No

use p!&stico. El pl&stico no puede respirar, 1o

que permite fa formaci6n de condensaci6n,

Io que productr& la oxidaci6n de su unidad.

tMPORTANTE: Nunca cubra el tractor mientras

el motor y las areas de escape todavia estan

calientes.
