lubricated, and tuned up according to the operating and maintenance instructions in the

owner's manual, Sears wilt repair free of charge any defect in material or workmanship..

If this Craftsman Lawn Mower is used for commercial or rental purposes, this warranty

applies for only 90 days from the date of purchase°

This Warranty does not cover:

° Expendable items which become worn during normal use, such as rotary mower

blades, blade adapters, belts, -air cleaners and spark ptugo

- Repairs necessary because of operator abuse or negligence, including bent crank-

shafts and the failure to maintain the equipment according to the instructions con-

PREPARATION:

o Always thoroughly check the area to be

mowed and clear it of all stones, sticks,

wires, bones, and other foreign objects°

These objects wilf be thrown by the blade

and can cause severe injury.

OPERATION:

• Keep your eyes and mind on your mower

and the area being cut. Do not let other

interests distract you.

• Do not mow wet or slippery grass. Never

run while operating your mower° Always

be sure of your footing - keep a firm hold

on the handles and walk..

• Do not put hands or feet near or under

rotating pads, Keep clear of the discharge

opening at all times.

o Always stop the engine whenever you

leave or are not using your mower, or

before crossing driveways, walks, roads,

and any gravel-covered areas.

o Never direct discharge of matedal toward

bystanders nor allow anyone near the

mower while you are operating iL

° Before cleaning, inspecting, or repairing

your mower, stop the engine and make

absolutely sure the blade and all moving

parts have stopped,. "]"hen disconnect the

spark plug wire and keep it away from the

spark plug to prevent accidental starting,

° Do not continue to run your mower if you

hit a foreign objecL Follow the procedure

outlined above, then repair any damage

before restarting and operating your

mower.

o Do not change the governor settings or

overspeed the engine. Engine damage or

personal injury may result.

° Do not operate your mower if it vibrates

abnormally. Excessive vibration is an

indication of damage; stop the engine,

safely check for the cause of vibration

and repair as required.

o Do not run the engine indoors_Exhaust

fumes are dangerous.

o Never cut grass by puIling the mower

towards your Mow across the face of

slopes, never up and down or you might

lose your footing. Do not mow exces-

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE:

o Check the blade and the engine mount-

ing bolts often to be sure they are

tightened properly,.

o Check all bolts, nuts and screws at

frequent intervals for proper tightness to

be sure mower is in safe working

condition°

° To reduce fire hazard, keep the engine

free of grass, leaves or excessive grease

and oil..

tion and wear and replace worn bags.

Use only replacement bags that are

o Always keep a sharp blade on your

mower..

,, Allow engine to cool before storing in any

enclosure.

inside a building where fumes may reach

an open flame or an ignition source such

wire and place wire where it cannot contact

spark plug in order to prevent accidental

starting when setting up, transporting,

adjusting or making repairs..

Read these instructions and this manual in its

entirety before you attempt to assemble or

operate your new lawn mower. 'four new lawn

mower has been assembled at the factory with

the exception of those parts left unassembled

for shipping pu_oses_ All parts such as nuts,

washers, bolts, etc., necessary to complete the

assembly have been placed in the parts bag.

To ensure safe and proper operalion of your

lawn mower, all parts and hardware you

assemble must be lightened securely Use the

correct tools as necessary to ensure proper

tightness.

TO REMOVE LAWN MOWER FROM

CARTON

• Remove loose parts included with mower..

o Cut down two end comets of carton and lay

end panel down flat.

,, Remove all packing materials except

padding between upper and lower handle

and padding holding operator presence

control bar to upper handle..

- Roll lawn mower out of carton and check

carton thoroughly for additional loose parts.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR LAWN

TO UNFOLD HANDLE

IMPORTANT: UNFOLD HANDLES

CAREFULLY SO AS NOT' TO PINCH OR

DAMAGE CONTROL CABLES.

• Raise handles until lower handle seclion

locks into place in mowing position

• Remove prote_ve padding, raise upper

handle section into place on lower handle

and tighten both handle knobs_

NOTE: For shipping purposes, the real

wheels on your lawn mower are not adjusted

to the same position as the front wheels..

Before operating mower adjust all wheels to

the same cutting height position.

Sears rotary walk-behind power lawn mowers conform to the safety standards of the

sion. The blade turns when the engine is runnlng.

HOW TO USE YOUR LAWN MOWER

CAUTION: Do not run your lawn mower

without mulcher plate in place and door

closed or without an approved clipping

deflector or grasscatcher in place Never

attempt to operate the lawn mower With

the rear door removed or propped open_

ENGINE SPEED

The engine speed is controlled by a lever

located on the side of the engine Fast

position is for starting the engine, normal

cutting, and better grass bagging. Slow

position is for Light cutting, trimming and

fuel economy.

ENGINE ZONE CONTROL

CAUTION: Federal regulations require an

engine control to be installed on this lawn

mower in order to minimize the risk of

blade contact injury. Do not under any

circumstances attempt to defeat the

function of tile operator control The blade

turns when the eng!ne is running.

• Your' lawn mower is equipped with an

operator presence control bar which

requires the operator to be positioned

behind the lawn mower handle to start

and operate the lawn mower.

TO ATTACH GRASS CATCHER

,, Close the flip lid. Flip lid must be closed

while operating lawn mower.

o Lift the rear door on the mower housing

and place the grass catcher frame onto

the formed tabs on the rear door hinge

bracket.

• The grass catcher is secured to the lawn

mower housing when the rear door is

lowered onto the grass catcher frame-

CAUTION: Do not run your lawn mower

without clipping deflector or approved

grass catcher in place. Never attempt to

operate the lawn mower with the rear door

removed or propped open.

TO ADJUST GUTTING HEIGHT

• Raise wheels for low cut and lower

wheels for high cut,

o Adjust cutting height to suit your

requirements. Medium position is best

for most lawns.

° To change cutting height, squeeze

adjuster lever toward wheel. Move

wheel up or down to suit your require-

merits, Be sure all wheels are in the

same setting.

NOTE: Adjuster is properly positioned

when plate tab inserts into hole in lever.

Also, 9-position adjusters (if so equipped)

allow lever to be positioned between the

plate tabs.

TO EMPTY GRASS CATCHER

• To remove grass catcher, release

operator presence control bar to stop

engine°

,, Lift up rear door and remove the grass

catcher by the handle.

NOTE: Do not drag the bag when emp-

tying; it will cause unnecessary wear.

BEFORE STARTING ENGINE

OIL

Your lawn mower is shipped without oil in the

engine°

. Be sure mower is level and area around oil

fill is clean.

. Remove engine oil cap wtdipstick and fill to

the full line on the dipstick

. Use 20 ozs. of oil. For type and grade of oil

to use, see "ENGINE" in Customer

Responsibilities section of this manual..

• Pour oil slowly. Do not over fill.

o Check oil level before each use. Add oil if

needed,. Fill to full line on dipstick.

. To read proper level, tighten engine oil cap

each time.

o Reinstall engine oil cap and tighten_

o Change the oil after every 25 hours of

operation or each season° You may need to

change the oil more often under dusty, dirb¢

conditions.

GAS

° Fill fuel tank. Use fresh, ciean, regular

unleaded gasoline with a minimum of 87

octane. Do not mix oil with gasoline.

Purchase fuel in quantflies that can be used

within 30 days to assure fuel freshness,.

IMPORTANT: When operating in

temperaturesbelow 320F(0°C), use fresh,

clean winter grade gasoline to help insure

good cold weather starting

WARNING: Experience indicates that alcohol

blended fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol

or methanol) can attract moisture which leads

to separation and formation of acids during

storage° Acidic gas can damage the fuel

system of an engine while in storage,, To avoid

engine problems, the fuel system should be

emptied before storage of 30 days or longer°

Drain the gas tank, start the engine and let it

run until the fuel lines and carburetor are

empty,. Use freshfuel next season See

Siorage Instructions for additional information_

Never use engine or carburetor cleaner

products in the fuel tank or permanent

damage may occur..

CAUTION: Fill to bottom of gas tank filler

neck, Do not overfill. Wipe off any spilled oil or

fuel, Do not store, spill or use gasoline near an

open flame,

TO START ENGINE

• To start a cold engine, push primer three (3)

times before trying to start. Use a firm push.

This step is not usually necessary when

starting an engine which has already run for

a few minutes.

- Move engine speed control lever to fast

position.

- Hold operator presence control bar down to

the handle and pull starter handle quickly.

Do not allow starter rope to snap back.

° To stop engine, release operator presence

control bar.

NOTE: In cooler weather it may be necessary

to repeat priming steps. In warmer weather

over priming may cause flooding and engine

will not start If you do flood engine, wait a few

minutes before attempting to start and do not

repeat priming steps.

MOWING TIPS

o Under certain conditions, such as very tall

grass, it may be necessary to raise the

height of cut to reduce pushing effort and to

keep from overloading the engine and

leaving clumps of grass clippings.

,, For extremely heavy cutting, reduce time

width of cut and raise the rear of the lawn

mower housing one (1) wheel adjuster

setting higher than the front for better

discharge, of grass.

o For better grass bagging and most cutting

conditions, the engine speed should be set

in,the fast pos[tion_

o When using a rear discharge lawn mower in

moist, heavy grass, dumps of cut grass

may not enter the grass catcher. Rei::iuce

ground speed (puShing speed) and/or run

the lawn mower over the af_ea a.second

time. -.... :_-:

• If a trail of grass Clippings is left on the right

side of a rear discharge tawn mower, mow

in a clockwise direction with a.small overlap

to collect the clippings on th.e next pass.,

° Keep top of engine around Staffer clear and

clean of grass clippings and chaff_ This wi!!

help engine air flow and extend engine life,

° Pores in cloth grass catchers can become

filled with dirt and dust with use and

catchers will collect less grass. To prevent

this, regularly hose catchers off with water

and let dry before using.

MULCHING MOWING TIPS

IMPORTANT: For best performance, keep

mower housing free of built-up grass and

trash_ See "Cleaning" in MAINTENANCE

section ofthis manual.

. The special mulching blade wilt recut the

grass clippings many times and reduce

them in size so that as they fall onto the

lawn they wil[ disperse into the grass and.

not be noticed. Ais0, the mulched grass Will

biodegrade quickly to provide nutnents for

the lawn: Always mulch with your highest

engine (blade) speed as this will provid e the

best recutting action of the blades.

grass tends to form clumps and interferes

with the mulclhing action,. "The best time to

time the grass has dried and the newly cut

area wilt not be exposed Io the direct sun.

. Forbest results, adjiJst the lawn mower

cutting height so that the lawn mower cuts

off only the top one-third of the grass blades.

If the !awn is overgrown it will be necessary

tO raise the height of cut to reduce pushing

effort and to keep from overloading the

engine and leaving clumps of mulched

grass. For extremely heavy mulching,

reduce your width of cut by overlapping

previously cut path and mow slowly_

,, Certain types of grass and grass conditions

may require that an area be mulched a

second time to completely hide the

clippings. When doing a second cut, mow

across or perpendicular to the tirst cut path°

,, Change your cutting pattern from week to

week_ Mow north to south one week then

change to east to west the next week,. This

will help prevent matting and graining of the

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

The warranty on this lawn mower does not

cover items that have been subjected to

operator abuse or negligence. To receive

ful! value from the warranty, operator must

maintain mower as instructed in this

manual.

Some adjustments will need to be made

periodically to properly maintain your unit.

All adjustments in the Service and

Adjustments section of this manual should

be checked at least once each season.

. Once a year, replace the spark plug,

replace air filter' element and check

blade for wear, A new spark plug and

clean!new air fleer element assures

proper air-fuel mixture and helps your'

engine run better and last longer.

• Follow the maintenance schedule in this

manual.

I[VtPORTANT: Do not oil or grease

plastic wlleel bearings. Viscous lubricants

wilt attract dust and dirt that will shorten

the life of the self lubricating bearings, if

you feel they must be lubricated, use only

a dry, powdered graphite type lubricant

sparingly.

TIRES

. Keep tires free of gasoline, oil, or insect

control chemicals which can harm

rubber.

- Avoid stumps, stones, deep ruts, sharp

objects and other hazards that may

cause tire damage.

BLADE CARE

For best results, mower blade must be

kept sharpo Replace bent or damaged

blades.

TO REMOVE BLADE

= Disconnect spark plug wire from spark

plug and place wire where it cannot

come in contact with spark plug,

• Turn lawn mower on its side, Make sure

air filter and carburetor are up.

° Use a wood block between blade and

mower housing to prevent btade from

turning when removing blade bolt.

• Protect your hands with gloves and/or

wrap blade with heavy cloth°

o Remove blade bolt by turning counter-

clockwise, Use a 9/16" box or opemend

wrench.

o Remove blade and attaching hardware

(bolt. lock washer and hardened

washer),

NOTE: Remove the blade adapter and

check the key inside hub of blade adapter.

The key must be in good condition to work

properly. Replace adapter if damaged.

TO REPLACE BLADE

° Position the blade adapter on the engine

crankshaft° Be sure key in adapter and

crankshaft keyway are aligned.

- Position blade on the blade adapter

aligning the two (2) holes in the blade

with the raised lugs on the adapter,

. Be sure the trailing edge of blade

(opposite sharp edge) is up toward the

engine_

° Install the blade bolt with the lock

washer and hardened washei' into blade

adapter and crankshaft.

• Use block of wood between blade and

lawn mower housing and tighten the

blade bolt,turningclockwise.

. The recommendedtighteningtorqueis

35-40ft. Ibs..

IMPORTANT: Blade bolt is grade 8 heat

treated,

NOTE: We do not recommend sharpen-

ing blade - but if you do, be sure the blade

is balanced.

TO SHARPEN BLADE

Care should be taken to keep the blade

balanced.. An unbalanced blade will cause

eventuat damage to lawn mower or

engine°

" The blade can be sharpened with a file

or on a grinding wheel. Do not attempt

to sharpen while on the mower.

_, To check blade balance, drive a nait into

a beam or wall Leave abouf one inch of

the straight nail exposed. Place center

hole of blade over the head of the nail.

If blade is balanced, it should remain in

a horizontal position,. If either end of f.tle

blade moves downward, sharpen the

GRASS CATCHER

o The grass catcher may be hosed witfl

water, but must be dry when used.

Check your grass catcher often for

damage or deterioration. Through

normal use it will wear. If catcher needs

replacing, replace only with a manufac o

turer approved replacement catcher.

Give the lawn mower model number

when ordering,

DRIVE WHEELS

Check front drive wheels each time. before

you mow to be sure they move freely.

The wheels not turning freely means trash,

grass cuttings, etc. are in the drive wheel

area and must be cleaned to free drive

wheels. :

If necessary to clean the drive wheels,

check both front wheels.

• Remove hubcaps, hairpin COtters and

: w&&14drs.

o Remove wheels from wheel adjusters,

° Remove any trash or grass cuttings from

inside the dust cover, pinion and/or drive

wheel gear teeth.

° Put wheels back in place.

• if after cleaning, the drive wheels do not

turn freely, contact your nearest :

authorized service center.

GEAR CASE

o To keep your drive system working

properly, the gear case and area around

the drive should be kept clean and flee

of trash build-up. Clean under the drive

cover twice a season.

• The gear case is filled with lubricant to

the proper level at the factoi-y, The only

time the lubricant needs attention is if

service has been performed on the gear

case,

o If lubricant is required, use only Texaco

Starplex Premium t Grease, Part No,.

750355. Do not substitute.

ENGINE

LUBRICATION

Use only high quality detergent oil rated with

avoid possible engine damage from running

low on oil,,

Change the oil after every 25 hours of

operation or at least once a year if the lawn

mower is nor.used for 25 hours in one year.

Check the crankcase oil level before starting

the engine and after each five (5) hours of

continuous use. Tigh_ten oil plug .securely each

time you check the oil level,

TO REMOVE/REPLACE DRIVE BELT

o Remove drive cover. Remove belt by

pusI_ing down on gear case pulley and

.rolling belt off it.

° Turn lawn mower on its side with

carburetor and fuel cap up.

° Remove blade.

= Remove debris shield.

o Remove belt from engine pulley on

crankshaft.

° Install new belt by reversing above

steps,

° Always use factory approved belt to

assure fit and long life,

high position, the upper and lower handle

sections will have to be turned over,

° Remove the cable clips,

o Remove the controls and operator presence

FUELSYSTEM

IMPORTANT: tt is importantto prevent

gum depositsfromformingin essentialfuel

systemparts such as carburetor,fuel filter,

fuel hose,or tankduringstorage.Also,

experienceindicatesthat alcoholblended

fuels (calledgasoholor usingethanolor

methanol) can attract moisture which leads

to separation and formation of acids during

storage.. Acidic gas can damage the fuel

system of an engine while in storage,

. Drain the fuet tank,

o Start the engine and let it run until the

fuel lines and carburetor are empty,

• Never use engine or' carburetor cleaner

products in the fuel tank or permanent

damage may occur,

o Use fresh fuel next season.

NOTE: Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable

alternative in minimizing the formation of

fuel gum deposits during storage. Add

stabilizer to gasoline in rue! tank or storage

container, Always follow the mix ratio

found on stabilizer container. Run engine

at least I0 minutes after adding stabilizer

to allow the stabilizer to reach the carbure-

tor. Do not drain the gas tank and

partes qua se dejaron sin montar per razones de

envio. Todas tas pades come las tuercas, las

arandelas, los pemos, etc., que son necesarias

para completar el montaje hart side co!ocadas en ta

belsa de partes. Para asegurarse que su segadora

funcione en forma segura y adecuada, todas las

partes y tos art[cuios+de ferreterfa que se monten

tienen que ser apretades seguramente. Use tas

COMO USAR SU SEGADORA

PRECAUClON: No haga funcionar su segadora

sin et desviedor de recoltes o stn el recogedor de

c_sped, aprobados, en su lugar. Nunca 1ratede

operar la segadora cuando se ha removido la

puerta trasera o cuando est& un poco abierta..

VELOCtDAD DEL MOTOR

La velocidad det motor se controla por medio de

una palanca ubicada en el lado det motor..La

posici6n de r_pido se usa,para hacer arrancar el

motor, para el corte normal y un mejor

ensacamiento del c_sped+ La posici6n lento es

pare colte iiviano, recode y pare economizer

combustible.

PRECAUCION; Las regulaciones federales

exigen que se instale un controt para el motor

en esta segadora pare reducir a un mfnimo el

riesgo de lesionarse debido al contacto con la

cuchilEa+Por ning6n motivo trate de eliminar la

funci6n del control del operador. La cuchiIla

gira cuando el motor est_ funcionando.

• Su segadora viene equipada con una barra de

control que exige fa presencia del operador, Io

que requlere que el operador est_ detr&s del

mango de la segadora para haceda arrancar y

operarl&

PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE CORTE

o Levante las ruedas par_.e! code bajo y baje las

ruedas pare el corte alto+

. Ajuste la altura de corte para que se acomode a

sus requisito& La posici6n del medi0 es la mejor

pare la mayoria de los c_spedes.

o Para cambiar la attura de corte, empuje la

palaqca dot ajustador hacia la rued& Mueva la

rueda hacia arriba o hacla abajo de modo que se

acomode a sus requisitos. Asegt_reseque todas

las ruedas qu_den+igualmenleajustadas;

ATENCI6N; El ajustador esta correctamente

colocado cuando las orejas de la place est_n

inselladas en el agujero dot mango° Tambi6n, los

ajustes de 9 posictones (si equ[pado) permit.onque

el mango pueda ser movido entre tas orejas de la

place

PARA MONTAR Y ADJUNTAR EL

RECOGEDOR DE ClaSPED

• Cierre la tapa soitable. Le tape soltable debe

ester cerrada cuando se esta operando la

segador&

• Levante ta puerta trasera de la caja de la

segadora y ponga el basttdor del recogedor de

c_sped en las orejas formadas en e! puntal de

bisagra de fa puerta tmsera+

o Et recogedor de c_sped esta asegurado en la

caja de ta segadora cuando se baja la puerla

trasera pare descansar en el bastidor del

recegedor de c_sped

PRECAUCION: No haga funcionar su

segadora sin el desviador de recodes o sin el

recogedor de c(_sped, aprobados, en su

lugaro Nunca trate de operar ]a segadora

cuando se ha removido la puerta trasera o

PARA VACIAR EL RECOGEDOR DE

ClaSPED

• Para remover et recogedor del c6sped suette la

barra de control del operador para poder parar el

motor.

• Levante la puerta de arras y remova el recogedor

del c_sped por e! mango

CONTROL DE LA IMPULSION

• La autoimpulsi6n se controla a] sujetar la barra

de control que exige la presencia del operador

hacia abajo en el mango y al empujar ]a palanca

de control de la impulsi6n hacia adelante hasta

que suene "clic," luego se suelta la palanca..

o El movimiento hacta adetante parar& cuando la

bane de control qua exige la presenda de?

operador se suelta, Pare parar el movimiento

hada adelante sin parer el molor, sue!re la barra

de control qua exige la presencia del operador un

poco hasta que se desenganche el control de la

tmpulsiSn.Sujete la barra de control que exige la

presencia del operador abajo en contra del

mango para continuer segando sin

autoimpulsiSn.

,Para mantener el control de la impulsi6n

enganchado cuando se de vuelta en las

esquinas, empuje el mango l_aciaaba}o y levante

Ins ruedas delanteras fuera del suelo al girar ta

segadora.

MOTOR

ACEITE

Su segadora rueenviada sin aceite en el motor.

• Asegurese que la segadora est_ nivelada y que

el Area alrededor del dep6sito de aceile est_

limpla..

• Remueva la tape det dep6sito de acelte del

motor con la varilla indicadora de nlvel y rellene

hasta la lfnea de lleno en _sta.

• Use 20 oz, de aceite, Pare el ripe y ia catidad yea

GASOLINA

el sistema del combustible de un motor duyante et

motor; se debe vaciar el sislema del comb_rstible

antes de guardarlo pot un periodo de 30 dias o

productos de limpieza pare el motor o pare et

carburador en el estanque del combustible pues se

pueden producir daSos permanentes.

PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTOR

,, Pare hacar arrancar un motor fr{o, empuje et

cebador tres (3) veces antes de tratado. Empuje

flrmemente_Este paso normaimente no es

necesario cuando se hace arrancar un motor quE

ya ha estado funcionando pot unos cuantos

minutos,

• Mueva la palanca de control de velocidad del

motor ala posici6n de rApidoo

° Sujete la barra de contro! que exige is presencia

deI operador abajo en el mango y tire el mango

det arrancador r_pidamente No permita que el

cord6n arrancador se de,_el;Ta abruptamente_

• Para parer el motor, suelte la barra de contrdl

qua exige la presencia del opera.dor.

AVlSO: En climes mAs frios puede que sea

necesario repelJrlos pasos del cebado, En climes

mAs calurosos el cebar demasiado puede prodtJcir

el ahogo y el motor no va a arrancar, Si se ahoga el

motor espere unos cuantos minutos antes de lrata_:

de hacerlo arrancar y no repita los pesos del

cebado.

CONSEJOS PARA SEGAR

, Bajo ciedas condiciones, tai como c6sped muy

alto, puede ser necesario el elevar la altura del

code para reducir el esiuerzo necesario pare

empujar la segadora y para evitar sobrecargar el

motor, dejando mon_onesde recodes de c_sped.

Puede qua sea necesafio reducir la vefocidad del

recorrido y/o haga tuncionar la segadora sobre el

Area pot segunda vez

• Pare un corte mw pesado, reduzca et ancho de!

corte pasando parcialmente por encima dei fugar

anteriormente codado y siegue tentamente

- Pare un mejor ensacado de] c6sped y pare la

mayoria de las condiciones de code, la velocidad

del motor debe ajustarse ata posici6n de rApido.

o Cuando use una segadora con descarga '_rasera

en c_sped humedo y pesado, los montones de!

c_sped corlado puede que no entrenen e!

recogedor de c_sped Reduzca la velocidad del

recorrido (velocidad de empuje) y!o haga

funcionar ta segadora sobre el area por segunda

vez.

• Siqueda una huellade codes en elladoderecho

de una segadora con descarga tmsera, siegue

en ]a direcci6n en que giran las manillas de! relojo

solapando un poco pare recaudar los recortes en

ta pr6xima pasada.

• Los poros en los recogedores de c_sped de tefa

pueden Uenarsecon mugre y polvo con eluso y

los recogedores recaudaran menos c_sped

Para evitar esto, rode el recogedor con fa

manguera de agua regularmente y d_Sjalo

secarse antes de usado..

, Mantenga la parle superior de1motor, alrededor

del arrancador, despejada y sin recodes de

c&sped y paja Esto ayudar_ el flujo del aire del

motor y exlender& su duraci6n.

CONSEJOS PARA SEGAR Y

ACOLCHAR

IMPORTANTE: Pare obtener el major rendimeinto

mantenga la caja de ta segadora sin acumulacion

de cesped y basura. Vea "Umpioza en la seccion de

"RESPONSABILIDADES DEE CLIENTE" de este

manual.

° La cuchilta acolchadora especial vaa volver a

cortar ios recortes de cesped muchas veces, y

los reduce en tamaSo, de modo quesi se caen

en el cesped se van a dispesar entre &stey no

se van a note[. Tambi_n, elc_sped acolchado se

vaa deshacer r_pidamente entregando

substancias nutritfvas pare el c6sped. Siempre

acolche con la veiocidad del motor (cuchi!ta) m_s

alta, pues as[ se obtendr,'_ta mejor acci6n de

recorte de las cuchiIlas.

• Evite cotter el c@spedcuando est_ mojado El

c@spedmojado tiende a formar monlones e

interfiere con la acci6n de acolchado La major

hora pare segar el c@spedes temprano en la

tarde,.A esa hora @stese ha secado y el area

reci@ncodada no quedarA expuesta al so!

directo..

,, Pare obtener los mejores resultados, ajuste la

altura de! code de la segadora de modo que @sta

code solamente el tercio supedor de las hojas de

c6sped En el caso de que el c@spedhaya

crecldo demasiado, puede ser necesario el

etevar la altura del code pare reducir el esfuerzo

necesario pare empujar la segadora y para evitar

sobrecargar ef motor, dejando montones de

recodes de c_sped Para un acolchamiento mW

pesado, reduzca el ancho det corte pasando por

encima del lugar anteriormente codado y siegue

lentamente

- Ciertos tipos de c_sped y sus condiciones

pueden exigir que un area tenga que ser

acolchada por segunda vez pare esconder

completarnente fos recofles. Cuando se haga el

segundo code, siegue atravesado o en forma

perpendicular ala pasada del primer corte

- Cambie su patr6n de corte de semana a

semana. Siegue de norie a sur una semana y

luego cambie de este a oeste la p[6xima

cambie de direcci6n

• Mantenga tas f?antas sin gasolina, aceite o

substancias qufmicas para control de

insectos que pueden daSar la goma.

o Evite los tocones, las piedras, las grietas

profundas, los objetos afilados y otros

peligros que pueden daSar a ]as ltantas.

CU|DADO DE LA CUCHILLA

Para obtener los mejores resultados, }a cuchitta

de la segadora tiene que mantenerse afilada..

Cambie la cuchilla dobiada o da5ada.

PARA REMOVER LA CUCHILLA

• Desconecte el alambre de la buj[a y £6nga!o

en donde no pueda entrar en contacto con

6sta.

Naga descansar la segadora en su lado.

AsegLirese que el filt[o de aire y que e!

carburador queden mirando hacia arriba.

, Use un bloque de madera entre ia cuchilta y

la caja de la segadora para evitar que la

cuchi]la g[re cuando se le quite el perno

, Proteja sus manos con guantes y/o envueIva

la cuchiila con una tefa grues&

• Remueva el pemo de la cuchilla gir_tndo[o en

el sentido contrario en que giran las menillas

del re!oj.

o Remueva la cuchilla y ]os art[culos de

ferreteria adjuntadores (el perno, la arandela

de seguridad y la arandela efldurecida).

AVlSO" Remueva el adaptador de la cuchilla y

revise et cube interior de la ranura det

adaptador de ta cuchi!la. La ranura tiene que

estar en buenas condiciones para que fL_ncione

en forma adecuada. Cambie e! adaptador si

est,- da_ado.

PARA CAMBtAR LA CUCHILLA

• F'onga el adaptador de ]a cuchitla en el

ciguefial del motor. Asegt'_rese que la ranura

del adaptador y que el chavetero del cigue5al

est6n alineados..

o Ponga la cuchi!ta en el adaptador de 6sta

alineando los dos (2) agujeros en la cuchilla

con las salientes elevadas en el adaptador.

° Asegurese de que el borde de salida de ia

cuchitla (opuesto al horde affiado) est_ hacia

arriba hacia el motor.

° lnstale el perno de la cuchilla con la arandela

de seguddad y la arandela endurecida en el

adaptador de la cuchilla y el cigueSal.

• Use un bloque de madera entre la cuchilla y

la caja de la segadora y apriete el perno de la

cuctfilla girb,ndolo en el sentido en qi.Je giran

las manitlas del reloj,

• La torsi6n pare apretar recomendada es de

35 - 40 pies libras,,

PARA AFtLAR LA CUCHILLA

Se tiene que loner cuidado de manteneda

balanceada. Una cuchilla que no est,.

balanceada va a producir eventualmente daSo

en la segadora o en el motor,

• La cuchilla puede afitarse con una lima

o en una rueda rectificadora. No irate de

afilarla mientras se encuentra en la

segadora.

o Pare revisar el balance de la cuchi!la,

clave un clavo en una riga o en la pared

Deje alrededor de una pulgada de un

clavo recto expuesto° Ponga el agujero

central de la cuchilla sobre la cabeza det

clavo. Si la cuchitla est,. balanceada

debe permaiqecer en la posici6n

horizontal. Si cuatquiera de los extremos

de la cuchilla se mueve hacia abajo,

afile el extremo pesado hasta que _sta

quede balanceada.

RECOGEDOR DE cESPED

(Si comprado como un accesorio)

* El recogedor de c6sped puede ser rociado

con el ague de la manguera pero tiene que

estar seco cuando se vaya a usar.,

. Revise su recogedor de c_sped a menudo

para verlficar si est& daSado o deteriorado,,

Se vaa desgastar con el uso normal Si se

necesita cambiar el recogedor, c&mbielo

solamente pot uno que sea aprobado por el

fabricante.. D_ el n0mero del modelo de la

segadora cuando Io ordene.

CAJA DE. ENGRANAJES

Pare mantener el sistema de imputsi6n

funcionando en forma adecuada, fa caja de

engranajes y el Area alrededor de la

imputsi6n tienen que mantenerse limPias y

sin acumulaci6n de basura.. Limpie debajo de

la cubierta de la impulsi6n dos veces por

temporada.

• La caja de engranajes se Ilena con fubricante

haste el nivel adecuado en ta f_brica.."La

unica vez que el lubrican!e necesita ate_ci6n

es cuando se le ha prestado servici0 ala caia

de engranajes..

AVlSO: Antes de inclinar la segadora para drenar

el aceite, drene el tanque de combustible haciendo

de la cubierta de la impulsi6n.

DESVIADOR TRASERO

Se proporciona un desviador lrasero, adjunto enlre

las ruedas traseras de su segadora, para reducir a

un mfnimo ta posibilidad que objetos sean lanzados

hacia afuera de la palte trasera de iasegadora, en

la posicl6n en donde se encuentra el operador,,Si

se de.fieel desviador debe carnbtarse,

PARA REMOVEPJCAMBIAR LA CORREA

IMPULSION

= Remueva la cubieila de la impulsi6n. Remueva

la conea empujando hacia abajo en la polea de

ta caja de engranajes,

• Haga descansar la segadora en su lado con el

fit_'ode aire y el carburador mirando hacia arriba

, Remueva ta cuchitla.

° Remueva la defense en contra del desperdicio,

o Remueva la correa de la polea del motor en el

cigueSaL

o Instale la correa nueva siguiendo los pasos

anteriores en el orden inverso.,

° Siempre use la correa aprobada pot la f_brtca

pare asegurarse que calce y dure,

, Remueva los controles y la barra de control que

exige la presencia de[ operador del mango

superior,

° Remueva tas clavijas de llorqtfilla

, Desconecte el mango inlerior de los punfales del

mango.,

• De wJella el mango y vuelva a montar las claviias

de horquilta que se habial removido,

• Vuelva a montar tos controles y la barra de

conLrolque exige la presencia del operador en el

mango superior.

PRECAUClON: La barra de control que exige

la presencia del operador tiene que pivotear

tibrernente pare permitir el enganche de la

cuchi!ta/freno cuando se suelta la barra de

control. No apriete demAsiado los sujetadores

que sujetan a los controles al rnango superior.

• Pare cambiar de la posici6n de mediana baja a

alia sotamente se tendr& que dar vuefta la

secci6n del mango superior,

o Pare cambiar de la posici6n mediana baja a baja,

solamente se ter_ir& que dar vueRala secci6n

del mango infertor_

MOTOR

vELociDAD DEL MOTOR

La velocidad del motof ha sido ajustada en la

f&br!ca. No trate de aumentar ta.veloctdad de}

motoi' pues se pueden producir leslones

personateS. Si cree que el m6toi- est_

funcionando demasiado r&pido o demasiado

lento, lleve su segadora .a un centro!

departamento 'de servicio autorizado parr

repacarla o ajustarla.

Su carburador no es ajustable. Si su motor no

est, funcionando en forma adecuada debido a

"probtemas que se sospeche vienen det

carburador, lleve su segadora a un centro de

servicio autortzado pare reparada ylo ajustarta.

IMPORTANTE: Nunca manipulee el regulador

del motor, el que ha sido ajustado en la f&brica

para la velocidad del motor adecuada.. Puede

set petigroso hacer funcionar el motor a una

velocidad por sobre elajuste de alta velocidad

de la f_tbraca Si tree que la velocidad alta

regulada dei n_otor'necesita ajusle, pongase en

contacto co'risu centroidepartarnento de

servicio autorazado mas cercano, et que cuenla

.con el equipo adec,uado y ia experiencia pare

haeer los ajustes necesarios,

inmediatamente prepare su segadora pare el

almacenamiento a! finalde cada temporada o si la

unidad no se va a usar por 30 dias o m&s.,

Cuando se vaa guardar la segadora pot cierto

remueva toda ta mugre, la grasa, las hojas, etc..

foma segura. Ins-peccionelas partes que se

mueven para verificar st est&n daRadas,
