ENGINE
ENGINE SPEED
Your engine speed has been factory set. Do not attempt
to increase engine speed or it may result in personal injury.
If you believe that the engine is running too fast or too slow,
take your lawn mower to an authorized service center for
repair and adjustment.,
TO ADJUST THROTTLE CONTROL
(See Fig. 19)
A misadjusted thi'ottle control will keep your engine from
operating efficiently tf you have to replace or adjust the
throttle control, follow these procedures:
- Loosen the cable clamp screw holding the throttle
control cable to the engine speed control bracket.
o Put the throttle control lever (located on the handle) in
fast (,_)position..
= Pull throttle cable until throttle lever just contacts the
choke arm.
• Retighten the cable clamp screw,,
CHECK CHOKE OPERATION -
. Put the throttle control lever (located on the handle) in
choke (N)position.
o Check that the choke arm is fully raised (choke fully
closed), If necessary, adjust screw "B" so it just
contacts the choke arm when the lever is fully raised.
_IOTE: Do not adjust top no load adjusting screw"A". It was
_re-set at the factory,

CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENTS
(See Fig. 20)
The carburetor on your' engine is low emission. The idle
mixture screw is fitted with a limiter cap that prevents
excessive enrichment of the air-fuel mixture in order to
comply with emissions regulations and is not adjustable,
Do not attempt to remove the timiter cap to make adjust-
ments. The limiter cap cannot be removed without break-
.ing the idle mixture screw,
IDLE SPEED SETTING -
Adjustment will require the assistance of an additional
person to hold down the operator presence control bar
• Start engine and allow to warm for five minutes.
With throttle control lever in slow (_.) position, engine
should idle at 2100 RPM,. If engine idles too slow or
fast, turn throttle stop screw in or out until correct idle
is attained.
IMPORTANT: NEVER TAMPER WITH THE ENGINE
GOVERNOR, WHICH fS FACTORY SET FOR PROPER
ENGINE SPEED.. OVERSPEEDING THE ENGINE ABOVE
THE FACTORY HIGH SPEED SETTING CAN BE
DANGEROUS.. tF YOU THINKTHE ENGINE-GOVERNED
HIGH SPEED NEEDS ADJUSTING, CONTACT YOUR
NEAREST AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER/
DEPARTMENT, WHICH HAS PROPER EQUIPMENT AND
EXPERIENCE TO MAKE ANY NECESSARY
