Installation Instructions
WHAT YOU WILL NEED (CONT.)
AGE water supply Mt (containing robing, shutoff
_dve and fittings listed below) is a_dlable at extra
cost/_'om yore" dealer or fl'om Parts and Accessories,
800.626.2002.
* A cold water supply. The x<_ter pressure must be
between 20 and 120 p.s.i. (1.4-8.1 bar).
Power drill.
1/2" or adjustable wrench.
Straight and Phillips blade screwdriver.
Two 1/4" outer diameter compression nuts and
2 ferrules (sleeves)--to cmmect the copper robing to
the shutoff valxe and the refrigerator water valve.
OR
If _ou are usino._ ,u GE Sma_lCmmect'" Refrigerator
Tubing kit, the necessar} fittings are preassembled to
the tubing.
If your existing copper water line has a flared fitting
at the end, you will need an adapter (available at
plumbing supply stores) to connect the water line to
the refl'igerator OR you can cut off the flared fitting
with a tube cutter and then use a compression fitting.

Shutoff valve to com_ect to the cold water line.
The shutoff _ulve should have a water inlet with a
minimum inside diameter of 5/32" at the point of
connection to the COLD WATER LINE. Saddle-t_pe
shutoff _ulves are included in many water supply kits.

SUPPLY
Turn on the uearest fimcet hmg euough to clear
the lille of water.
[] CHOOSE THE VALVE LOCATION
Choose a locatiou fi_r the valve that is easily
accessible. It is best to couuect iuto the side of a
vertical water pipe. Wheu it is uecessalw to couuect
iuto a hofizoutal water pipe, inake the couuectiou
to the top or side, rather thau at the bottoln, to
aw)id drawiug off auv sedilneut froul the water pipe.
[] DRILL THE HOLE FOR THE VALVE
Drill a 1/4" hole in the water pipe (eveu it using a
sell:pierciug valve), usiug a sharp bit. Reumve auv
braTS resultiug fl'Oln drilliug the hole ill the pipe.
Take care not to allow water to drain into the drill,
