TOWING CARTS AND OTHERA'I-rACH-

Tow only the attachments that are
recommended by and comply wiih
specifications of the manufacturer of your
tractor, Use common sense when towing.
Too heavy of a load, while on a slope, is
dangerous. Tires can lose traction with
the ground and cause you to lose control
ofyour tractor.
BEFORE STARTINGTHE ENGINE
CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL
The engine in your tractor has been
shipped, from the factory, already tilled
with summer weight oil.
1. Check engine oil with tractor on level
ground.
2. Unthread and remove oil fill cap/
dipstick; wipe oil off, Reinsert the
dipstick into the tube and rest oil fill
cap on the tube. Do not thread the
cap onto the tube. Remove and read
oil level. If necessary, add oil until
"FULL" mark on dipstick is reached.
Do not overfill.
For cold weather operation you should
change oil for easier starting (See "OIL
VISCOSITY CHART" in the Mainte-
nance section of this manual).
To change engine oil, see the Mainte-
nance section in this manual.
ADD GASOLINE
Fillfuel tank. Usefresh,clean,regular
unleadedgasolinewith a minimumof
87 octane. (Use of leadedgasoline
will increasecarbonand lead oxide
depositsand reducevalve life). Do not
mixoilwithgasoline. Pumhasefuel in
quantitiesthat canbe usedwithin30
daysto assurefuelfreshness.
IMPORTANT: When operatingin
temperaturesbelow32°F(0°C),usefresh,
clean wintergrade gasolineto help
insuregoodcoldweatherstarting.
_kWARNING: Experienceindicatesthat
alcoholblendedfuels (calledgasonolor
usingethanolor methanol)canattract
moisturewhichleadsto separationand
formationofacidsdudngstorage. Acidic
gascandamagethefuel systemof an
enginewhilein storage. Toavoidengine
problems,the fuel systemshouldbe
emptiedbeforestorageof30 daysor
longer. Drainthegastank, startthe
engineand let itrununtilthe fuel lines
and carburetorare empty. Usefresh fuel
nextseason. See StorageInstructionsfor
additionalinformation. Never use engine
or carburetorcleanerproductsinthe fuel
tankor permanentdamage may occur.
CAUTION: Filltobottomofaas tank
filter neck. Do notoverfill.Wip_'offany
spilledoilorfuel. Do notstore,spillor
usegasolinenear an openflame.
TO START ENGINE
Whenstartingtheengineforthefirsttimeorif
theenginehasrunoutoffus_,itwilltakeextra
crankincjtimetomovefuelfromthetankto
theengine.
1. Besure freewheel controlis inthe
transmissionengaged position.
2. Siton seat in operatingposition,
depressclutch/brakepedaland set
parkingbrake.
3. Place motioncontrollever in neutral
(N) position.
4. Move attachmentclutchto"DISEN-
GAGED"position.
5. Movethrottlecontroltofast position
6. Pullchokecontroloutfor a cold
enginestartattempt.Fora warm
enginestartattemptthe chokecontrol
may notbe needed.
NOTE:Beforestarting,readthewarmand
coldstaringproceduresbelow.
7. Insertkey intoignitionand turnkey
clockwiseto"START" positionand
releasekey as soonas enginestarts.
Do not run startercontinuouslyfor
16 morethanfifteensecondsper minute,
