To remove the mulch insert O-3 so that you can bag or discharge the grass, follow the steps listed below:
1. Release bail handle to turn mower off, wait until the blade stops and remove safety key.
2. Raise the rear discharge door O-2 and hold it up.
3. Locate your hand in the handle pocket O-4, lift and pull out the mulch
insert O-3 completely.
4. The rear discharge door is spring loaded. When you release it the door
wilt return to the closed position. Ensure the door rests firmly against
the deck.

1. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for removing mulch insert.
2. To insert mulch insert P-1, push it until contact is made with the out-
side of the deck. Then lift slightly so that mulch insert rib P-2 is within
deck groove P-3.
3. Release rear door P-4 and ensure it is properly closed.
OPERATING THE MOWER FOR DiSCHARGiNG
To operate the mower in Rear Discharge mode:
1. Remove the grass catcher Q-2 or mulch insert 0-3.
2. Ensure the rear discharge door rests firmly against the deck.
The mower is now in Rear Discharge mode. The cut grass will be
deposited below the closed door exit onto the lawn.
iNSTALLiNG GRASS CATCHER - FIGURE Q, R
1. Release bail handle to turn mower off, wait until the blade stops and
remove safety key.
2. Reaching down between the mower handles, raise the rear discharge
door Q-1 to a vertical position and hold the door up. Ensure that the
mulch insert O-3 has been removed.
3. Pick up the grass catcher Q-2 by the handle Q-3 and place the grass
catcher between the mower handles as shown.
4. Position the grass catcher hanger hooks Q-4 on the mower as
shown in figure R. Release the rear discharge door.
/_ DANGER: Sharp moving blade. Never operate the mower unless
the hanger hooks on the grass catcher are seated properly on the mower
and the rear discharge door rests firmly against the top of the grass
catcher as serious injury could result.
