Recheck/die speed after each adjustment below. The
chain must not move at idle speed to avoid serious
injury.

ACCELERATION ADJUSTMENT
tfenginediesorhesitatesinsteadofaccelerating,turn
the Low Speed Mixture Screw 1/16ofa turnat a
time counterclockwise until you have smooth
acceleration.
HIGH SPEED MIXTURE ADJUSTMENT
CAUTI_..] Adjustments as small as 1/16 of a
turn can affect engine performance. It isimpor-
tant to turnthescrewonly 1/16ofaturnperad|ust-
ment and testthe performance ofthe saw before
making further adjustments.
a. Make a testcut.
b. Adiust theHighSpeed MixtureScrew1/16ofa turn
as follows:
----C!ockwJseff sawsmokesorlosespower.
-- Counterclockwiseifthesaw hasspeed outof
thecutbutlackspowerinthecut.
c. Repeat testcut.
d. Continue1116ofa turnadjustmentsuntilthe saw
runssmoothlyincut.
Atoo lean highspeed setting (clock°
wise adjustment) will cause engine damage to
any 2,cycle engine from overheating and lackof
lubrication. Never set the high speed mixture
screw sofarclockwise th*atyou havehigh engine
speed but lackpower while cutting. An effective
approach follows:
-- Turn screw counterclockwise until engine
loses power while cutting,
-- Then, turn screw clockwise in 1/16of a turn
increments only until the engine has power
while cutting.
NOTE: if the unit will not operate properly after
makingtheseadjustments, taketheunittoyourSears
