ventilated outdoorarea.
• Do not operate saw from a ladder or
in a tree, unless you are specifically
trainedto do co.
• Make sure the chain willnot make
contactwith any object whgestarting
the engine NeverW tostartthe saw
whenthe guidebarisina cut.
• Do notput pressure onthe saw, es-
peoiailyat the end of the cut. Doing
so can cause you to losecontrol
when the cut iscompleted.
• Stop engine before seffingsaw down.
• Hand carrysaw onlywhen engine is
stopped.Carry with muffleraway from
body;,guidebar & chain projectingbe-
hindyou;guide bar preferably cov-
ered with a scabbard.
• Storethe unitand fuel in a cool,dry
well ventilatedspace where fuel va-
porscannot reach sparksor open
flames fromwater heaters, electric
motorsorswitches,furnaces, etc.

WORKING ORDER
• Have all chainsaw service performed
by a qualified service dealer except
the items listed in the maintenance
section ofthis manual.
• Make certain the saw chain stops
movingwhen the throttletrigger is re-
leased. For correction, refer to"Car-
buretorAdjustments."
• Keep the handles dry,Clean,and free
from oilor fuel mixture.
• Keep caps and fasteners securely
tightened.
• Use only Craftsman accassodes and
replacement partsas recommended.

HANDLE FUEL WITH CAUTION
• Do not smokewhile handling fuel or
while operatingthe saw.
• Eliminatsallsourcssofsparksor ltame
inareeswherefusl ismixed orpsured.
• Mix and pourfuel in an outdoorarea
and use an approved, marked con-
tainer for allfuel purposes.Wipe up
allfuel spillsbefore starting saw.
• Move at least 10 feet (3 meters) from
fueling site before starting.
• Turn the engine off and let saw cool in
' a-nt)rPcombustiblearea, noton dry
leaves, straw, paper, etc. Slowly re-
move fuel cap and refuelunit.

stopping ofthe chain resultsin a rever-
sal of the chain force used to cutwood
and causes the saw to move in the op-
positedirectionofthe chain rotation.
