Disconnectspark plug wire and secure awayfrom spark
plug. Engineand components are HOT.Avoid serious
burns, allow sufficient time for all componentsto cool.
Replacing the Bearing On the Pulley End Of the
Hex Shaft
Toreplacethe bearing on the pulley endof the hexshaft,
proceedas follows:
1. Hold the hex shaft with an adjustablewrench heldnext
to the pulley.
2. Removethe 3/8" hexlock nut (B, Figure34), located on
the outside of the right wheel bracket.
3. Removethe holder (A), O-ring (C) and bearing (D).
4. Install the new bearing.
5. Carefullyinstall the new O-ring overthe outside of the
new bearing.
6. Install the bearing holder,and secure with screws.
7. Install the 3/8" hex lock nut.

On self-propelled mowers, the engine belt (A, Figure 35)
transmits power from the engine pulley (B) to the drive disc
(C). The drive disc powers the poly-v belt, which engagesthe
transmission that powers the rearwheels. Should these belts
become worn, they could causeslippage,which would
impair mower performance. Thecondition of the engine belt
and poly-v belt should be checkedafter every25hours of
mower operation.
Engine Drive Belt Replacement (Stretch Type
Belts)
1. Emptythe fuel tank.
2. Note the belt routing (Figure 35). Thereis no idler
pulley on these models to disconnect.
