OPERATING PRECAUTIONS
Thisisapropane,direct-fired,forcedairheater.Itsintendeduse
is primarily temporary heating of buildings under construction,
alteration, or repair.
Propaneisheavierthanair.Ifpropaneleaksfromaconnectionor
fitting,itsinkstothefloor,collectingtherewiththesurrounding
air,formingapotentiallyexplosivemixture.Obviously,propane
leaksshouldbeavoided,sosetupthepropanesupplywith
utmostcare.ReadenclosedOdorFadeandPropaneSheetfor
additionalinformationaboutdetectingpropaneleaks.Leakcheck
new connections or reconnections with a soap and water solution
andfollowallconnectioninstructionsherein.Also,askyour
propanedealerforadviceonthepropaneapplicationandsupply
installationandaskhimtocheckitifthereareanyquestions.
Thisheaterwasdesignedandcertifiedforuseasaconstruction
heaterinaccordancewithANSIZ83.7/CGA2.14.Checkwith
yourlocalfiresafetyauthorityifyouhaveanyquestionsabout
yourapplications.Otherstandardsgoverntheuseoffuelgases
andheatproducingproductsinspecificapplications.Yourlocal
authoritycanadviseyouaboutthese.
Direct-Firedmeansthatallofthecombustionproductsenterthe
heatedspace.Eventhoughthisheateroperatesverycloseto100
percent combustion efficiency, it still produces small amounts of
carbonmonoxide.Carbonmonoxide(calledCO)istoxic.Wecan
toleratesmallamountsbutnotalot.COcanbuildupinaheated
spaceandfailuretoprovideadequateventilationcouldresultin
death.
Thesymptomsofinadequateventilationare:
•headache
•dizziness
•burningeyesandnose
•nausea
•drymouthorsorethroat
So,besuretofollowadviceaboutventilationintheseoperating
instructions.
ForcedAirmeansthatablowerorfanpushestheairthroughthe
heater. Proper combustion depends upon this air flow;
therefore, theheatermustnotberevised,modified,or
operatedwithpartsremovedormissing.Likewise,safety
systemsmustnotbecircumventedormodifiedinorderto
operatetheheater.
Whentheheateristobeoperatedinthepresenceofother
people
, theuserisresponsibleforproperlyacquaintingthose
presentwiththesafetyprecautions,instructions,andofthe
hazardsinvolved.

5. Mountthepropanecylindersvertically(shutoffvalveup).
Securethemfromfallingorbeingknockedoverandprotect
them from damage.
6. Locatepropanecontainersatleast(USA)7ft.(2.13m),
(Canada)10ft.(3m)fromtheheateranddo not direct
exhausttowardcontainers.
7. IMPORTANTUseonlythehoseandregulatorassembly
providedwiththeheater.Matchthecolorstripeonthe
hangtag attached to the hose assembly with the color on
the label located near the propane inlet fitting on the heater.
Inspecthoseassemblybeforeeachuseoftheheater.Ifthere
isexcessiveabrasionorwear,orhoseiscut,replacewithhose
assembly listed on parts list before using heater.

9. Ifatanytimegasodorisdetected,IMMEDIATELY
DISCONTINUEoperationuntilthesourceofgashasbeen
locatedandcorrected.ReadenclosedOdorfadeandPropane

10. Installtheheatersuchthatisisnotdirectlyexposedtowater
spray,rainand/ordrippingwater.
11. Maintainminimumclearancefromnormalcombustible

childrenmustobserveclearancestoavoidburnsorclothing

18. Do not adjust the heater combustion tube elevation while
heater is running or hot. Adjustments to elevation should
only be made after the heater has cooled to touch.

ODOR FADE WARNING
WARNING
Asphyxiation Hazard
•Donotusethisheaterforheatinghumanliving
quarters.
•Donotuseinunventilatedareas.
•Theflowofcombustionandventilationairmust
not be obstructed.
•Properventilationairmustbeprovidedto
supportthecombustionairrequirementsofthe
heater being used.
•Refertothespecificationsectionoftheheater’s
manual, heater data plate, or contact the factory
todeterminecombustionairventilation
requirementsoftheheater.
•Lackofproperventilationairwillleadto
improper combustion.
•Impropercombustioncanleadtocarbon

monoxidepoisoningleadingtoseriousinjuryor
death.Symptomofcarbonmonoxidepoisoning
canincludeheadaches,dizziness,anddifficulty
in breathing.
FUEL GAS ODOR
LP gas and natural gas have man‑made odorants added
specifically for detection of fuel gas leaks.
If a gas leak occurs you should be able to smell the fuel
gas. Since Propane (LP) is heavier than air you should
smell for the gas odor low to the floor. ANY GAS ODOR
IS YOUR SIGNAL TO GO INTO IMMEDIATE ACTION!
•Donottakeanyactionthatcouldignitethefuelgas.Do
not operate any electrical switches. Do not disconnect
anypowersupplyorextensioncords.Donotlight
matches or any other source of flame. Do not use your
telephone.
•Geteveryoneoutofthebuildingandawayfromthearea
immediately.
•Closeallpropane(LP)gastankorcylinderfuelsupply
valves,orthemainfuelsupplyvalvelocatedatthemeter
if you use natural gas.
•Propane(LP)gasisheavierthanairandmaysettleinlow
areas.Whenyouhavereasontosuspectapropaneleak,
keepoutofalllowareas.
•Useyourneighbor’sphoneandcallyourfuelgassupplier
andyourfiredepartment.Donotre-enterthebuildingor
area.
•Stayoutofthebuildingandawayfromtheareauntil
declared safe by the firefighters and your fuel gas
supplier.
•FINALLY,letthefuelgasservicepersonandthe
firefighterscheckforescapedgas.Havethemairout
the building and area before you return. Properly trained
servicepeoplemustrepairanyleaks,checkforfurther
leakages,andthenrelighttheapplianceforyou.
ODOR FADING ‑ NO ODOR DETECTED
•Somepeoplecannotsmellwell.Somepeoplecannot
smelltheodoroftheman-madechemicaladdedto
propane(LP)ornaturalgas.Youmustdetermineifyou
can smell the odorant in these fuel gases.
•Learntorecognizetheodorofpropane(LP)gasand
naturalgas.Localpropane(LP)gasdealerswillbemore
thanhappytogiveyouascratchandsniffpamphlet.Use
it to become familiar with the fuel gas odor.
•Smokingcandecreaseyourabilitytosmell.Being
around an odor for a period of time can affect your
sensitivitytothatparticularodor.Odorspresentinanimal
confinementbuildingscanmaskfuelgasodor.
•The odorant in propane (LP) gas and natural gas
is colorless and the intensity of its odor can fade
under some circumstances.
•Ifthereisanundergroundleak,themovementofgas
through the soil can filter the odorant.
•Propane(LP)gasodormaydifferinintensityatdifferent
levels.SincePropane(LP)gasisheavierthanair,there
maybemoreodoratlowerlevels.
• Always be sensitive to the slightest gas odor. Ifyou
continue to detect any gas odor, no matter how small,
treatitasaseriousleak.Immediatelygointoactionas
discussedpreviously.
ATTENTION ‑ CRITICAL POINTS TO
REMEMBER!
•Propane(LP)gashasadistinctiveodor.Learnto
recognizetheseodors.(ReferenceFuelGasOdorand
OdorFadingsectionsabove.
•
Even
ifyouarenotpropertytrainedintheserviceand
repairoftheheater,ALWAYSbeconsciouslyawareof
theodorsofpropane(LP)andnaturalgas.
•Ifyouhavenotbeenproperlytrainedinrepairand
serviceofpropane(LP)gas,thendonotattemptto
lightheater,performserviceorrepairs,ormakeany
adjustmentstotheheateronthepropane(LP)gasfuel
system.
•Aperiodicsnifftestaroundtheheaterorattheheater’s
joints
( hose, connections, etc.) is a good safety
practiceunderanyconditions.Ifyousmellevenasmall
amountofgas,CONTACTYOURFUELGASSUPPLIER
IMMEDIATELY.DONOTWAIT!

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
1. Theheatershouldbeinspectedbeforeeachuse,andatleast
annuallybyaqualifiedperson.
2. Beforeeachuse,checkthesoft"O"ringsealatthebullnose
ofthePOLfitting.Ifthe"O"ringiscut,scuffed,orotherwise
damaged,replaceitwithpartnumber73786.
3. TurnoffthegasattheLP-gassupplycylinder(s)whenthe
heater is not in use.
4. Whentheheateristobestoredindoors,theconnection
betweentheLP-gassupplycylinder(s)andtheheatermust
bedisconnectedandthecylinder(s)removedfromtheheater
andstoredoutofdoorsandinaccordancewithChapter5of
thestandardforStorageandHandlingofLiquefiedPetroleum
GasesANSI/NFPA58andCSAB149.1,NaturalGasand
PropaneInstallationCode.
SERVICING
Ahazardousconditionmayresultifaheaterisusedthathasbeen
modifiedorisnotfunctioningproperly.Whentheheaterisworking
properly:
• Theflameiscontainedwithintheheater.
• Theflameisessentiallybluewithperhapssomeyellowtipping.
•
Thereisnostrongdisagreeableodor,eyeburning,or
other
physical discomfort.
• Thereisnosmokeorsootinternalorexternaltotheheater.
• Therearenounplannedorunexplainedshutdownsofthe
heater.
Thepartslistsandwiringdiagramshowtheheaterasitwas
constructed. Do not use a heater which is different from that
shown.Inthisregard,useonlythehose,regulatorandcylinder
connectionfitting(calledaPOLfitting)suppliedwiththeheater.
IMPORTANTMatchthecolorstripeonthehangtagattachedto
the hose assembly with the color on the label located near the
propaneinletfittingontheheater.Donotusealternates.Forthis
heater,theregulatormustbesetasshownin"specifications".
Ifthereisanyuncertaintyabouttheregulatorsetting,haveit
checked.
Aheaterwhichisnotworkingrightmustberepaired,butonlybya
trained,experiencedserviceperson.
In-warrantyproductswillberepairedwithnochargeforeitherparts
or labor. Please include a brief statement indicating date, place of
purchase, the nature of the problem and proof of purchase.
Out-of-warrantyproductswillberepairedwithachargeforparts
and labor.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
PREPARING FOR OPERATION
1. Checktheheaterforpossibleshippingdamage.Ifanyis
found, immediately notify the factory.
2. Followallofthe"Precautions".
3. ConnectthePOLfittingofhoseandregulatorassemblytothe
propanecylinderbyrotatingthePOLnutcounterclockwiseinto
thepropanecylinder'svalveoutletandsecurelytightenwitha
wrench.
4. Connectthehosetotheheaterbyrotatingthehosefitting
clockwise.
5. Securelytightenallgasconnections.
6. Openthecylinder'sgasvalveandcheckallgasconnections
withasoapandwatersolution.DONOTUSEAFLAME.
7. Connectpowercordtowell-grounded115V,60Hz,1Øsource
of power.
8. Whenusinganextensioncord,makecertainthatitisa3-wire
(grounded)cordofproperwiresize.
START
1. Beforeheaterignition,alwaysallowheaterfan(blower)torun
for20secondstopurgefuel.
2. Slowlyopenthemainvalveatpropanecylinder.
3. Depressthefuelvalvebuttontolighttheheater.
4.
Aftertheheaterlights,keepthegasvalvebuttondepressed
for15seconds,
thenrelease,andtheheaterwillcontinue
tooperate.
5. Adjustburnratebysettingcontrolknobtodesiredlevel.
6. Nothermostatusablewiththeseunits.
STOP
1. Securelyclosevalveonthepropanecylinder.
2. Continuetooperateheateruntilallfuelinthehosehas
burned.
3. Unplugthepowercord.
RESTART AFTER SAFETY SHUTDOWN
1. Securelyclosevalveatpropanecylinder.Unplugheater.
2. Wait5minutes.
3. Restartfollowing"Start"procedure.

estar obstruido.
•Sedebeproporcionarunaventilaciónadecuadapara
cumplirconlosrequisitosdeairedecombustióndel
calentadorqueestáutilizando.
•Consultelaseccióndeespecificacionesdelmanualdel
calentador,laplacadeidentificacióndelcalentador,
ocomuníqueseconlafábricaparadeterminarlos
requisitosdeventilacióndeairedecombustióndel
calentador.
•Lafaltadeunaventilaciónadecuadaprovocaráuna
combustiónincorrecta.
•Lacombustiónincorrectapuedeconducirala
intoxicaciónpormonóxidodecarbono,loquepuede
provocarlesionesgravesolamuerte.Lossíntomasde
laintoxicaciónpormonóxidodecarbonopuedenincluir
doloresdecabeza,mareosydificultadpararespirar.
OLOR DEL GAS COMBUSTIBLE
El gas licuado y el gas natural poseen odorizantes artificiales
agregados específicamente para la detección de fugas de gas
combustible.
Si se produce una fuga de gas, podrá oler el gas combustible.
Dado que el propano (licuado) es más pesado que el
aire, debe detectar el olor a gas cerca del nivel del suelo.
CUALQUIER OLOR A GAS QUE DETECTE LE INDICA QUE DEBE
TOMAR MEDIDAS INMEDIATAS.
•Norealiceningunaactividadquepudieraencenderelgas
combustible.Noaccioneinterruptoreseléctricosdeningúntipo.
Nodesconecteningúncabledesuministrodeenergíanide
extensión.Noenciendafósforosniningúnotrotipodellama.
Nousesuteléfono.
•Retireatodosdeledificioylejosdeláreadeinmediato.
•Cierretodaslasválvulasdesuministrodegasatanqueso
cilindrosdegaslicuadopropano,olaválvulaprincipalde
suministrodegasubicadaenelcontadorsiutilizagasnatural.
•Elgaslicuadopropanoesmásdensoqueelaireypuede
permanecerenáreasbajas.Cuandotengamotivospara
sospecharlapresenciadeunafugadepropano,manténgase
alejadodetodaslasáreasbajas.
•Useelteléfonodesuvecinoyllameasusuministradorde
gascombustibleyaldepartamentodebomberos.Novuelvaa
ingresaraledificiooalárea.
•Manténgasealejadodeledificioydeláreahastaquelos
bomberosysusuministradordegascombustibleindiquenque
es seguro hacerlo.
•FINALMENTE,permitaqueelencargadodelserviciodelgas
combustibleyquelosbomberosverifiquenelescapedegas.
Indíquelesqueventileneledificioyeláreaantesdevolvera
ingresar.Elpersonaldeserviciocapacitadoyadecuadodebe
repararlafuga,controlarlaexistenciadeotrasfugasyluego
volveraencenderlaaplicación.
PÉRDIDA DE LA INTENSIDAD DEL OLOR
‑ FALTA DE DETECCIÓN DE OLOR
•Algunaspersonasnotienenbuenolfato.Algunaspersonasno
puedendetectarelolordelquímicorealizadoporelhombre
queseagregaalgaslicuadopropanooalgasnatural.Usted
debe determinar si puede distinguir ese olor en estos gases
combustibles.
•Aprendaareconocerelolordelgaslicuadopropanoydelgas
natural.Losvendedoresdegaslicuadopropanogustosamente
lefacilitaránunpanfletopararasparyoler.Úselopara
reconocer el olor al gas combustible.
•Fumarpuededisminuirsucapacidaddereconocerolores.
Permanecerrodeadodeunolordeterminadoporunperíodo
de tiempo puede afectar su sensibilidad a ese olor en particular.
Losolorespresentesenedificiosdondepermanecenencerrados
animales pueden ocultar el olor al gas combustible.
•El odorizante en el gas licuado propano y en el gas
natural es invisible y la intensidad de su olor puede
perder su intensidad bajo determinadas circunstancias.
•Encasodeunapérdidasubterránea,elmovimientodegaspor
elsuelopuedefiltrarelodorizante.
•Elolordelgaslicuadopropanopuedevariarsuintensidaden
distintosniveles.Comoelgaslicuadopropanoesmásdenso
queelaire,podríahabermásolorenlosnivelesmásbajos.
• Esté siempre atento al más mínimo olor a gas. Sicontinúa
detectandooloragas,noimportacuánínfimaseasu
intensidad,tómelocomounapérdidaseria.Actúedeinmediato
según lo indicado anteriormente.

•Elgaslicuadopropanotieneunolordistintivo.Aprendaa
reconoceresosolores.(Seccionesdereferenciadelolordelgas
combustibleydelapérdidadeintensidaddelolor,explicadas
anteriormente).
•Inclusosinoseencuentraadecuadamentecapacitadoparael
servicioyreparacióndelcalentador,SIEMPREestéalertapara
reconocer los olores del gas licuado propano y del gas natural.
•Sinohasidoadecuadamentecapacitadoenlareparación
yserviciodelgaslicuadopropano,nointenteencenderel

• Elcalentadornoseapagadeformasorpresivaniinesperada.

calentadortalcomofueconstruido.Noutiliceelcalentadorsifuera
diferentealquesemuestraaquí.Asuvez,usesólolamanguera,el

sólopuedenrealizarseunavezqueelcalentadorestéfrío
al tacto.
2. Paraajustarlaelevacióndeltubodecombustión,girelaperilla
deltornillodeajustehacialaizquierda,yeleveeltubode
combustiónhastalaposicióndeseada.

reguladoralcilindrodepropanogirandolatuercaPOLhaciala
izquierdadentrodelasalidadelaválvuladelcilindro,yajuste
bienconunallavedetuercas.
4. Conectelamangueraalcalentadorgirandolaconexióndela
manguera hacia la derecha.
5. Ajustefirmementetodaslasconexionesdegas.
6. Abralaválvuladegasdelcilindroycontroletodaslas
conexionesconunasolucióndeaguajabonosa.NOUTILICE
LLAMA.
7. Conecteelcableaunsuministrodeenergíade115V,60Hz,
1Ødebidamenteconectadoatierra.
8. Siutilizauncabledeextensión,asegúresedequeseauncable
detrespuntas(conectadoatierra)deltamañoadecuado.

(soplador)unos20segundosparaquesepurgueel
combustible.

4. Unavezencendidoelcalentador,mantengaelbotóndela
válvuladegaspresionadodurante15segundos,luegosuéltelo

5. Ajustelapotenciagirandolaperilladecontrolhastaelnivel
deseado.
6. Mientraselcabledesuministroeléctricoestéconectado,
elencendedorseguiráfuncionando.

Des additifs odorants ont été ajoutés au gaz propane liquéfié
et au gaz naturel dans le but de faciliter la détection de fuites.
Vous devriez remarquer une odeur de gaz combustible s'il y
a une fuite. Comme le gaz propane (liquéfié) est plus lourd
que l'air, l'odeur de gaz se détecte plus facilement près du
sol. TOUTE ODEUR DE GAZ EST UN SIGNAL QU'IL FAUT
INTERVENIR IMMÉDIATEMENT !
•Neprenezaucunemesurequiprovoqueraitl'allumagedes
vapeursdegaz.N'utilisezaucuninterrupteurélectrique.Ne
tirezsuraucunesourced'alimentationélectriqueourallonge
électrique.N'allumezpasd'allumettesniaucunesourcede

locauxserontheureuxdevousfournirunfeuilletcomprenant
unepastilleàhumer.Servez-vousdecettepastillepourvous
aideràreconnaîtrel'odeurdegazcombustible.
•Letabagismepeutnuireàvotrefacultéolfactive.Votrefacilité
àdéceleruneodeurquelconquepeuts'estompersivous
demeurezuncertaintempsdansunendroitoùcetteodeurest
présente.Laprésenced'animauxdansdesendroitsclospeut
aussimasquerl'odeurdugazcombustible.
•La substance odorante contenue dans le gaz propane
