WARNING
ś Do not shift into gear unless your
foot is firmly on the brake pedal. Use
the P (Park) position to idle a vehicle
for an extended period of time. The
wheels and the transmission are not
engaged. While parking the vehicle
with the engine running, depress
the brake pedal or apply the parking
brake.
ś Do not drive with the shift lever in N
(Neutral). Doing so may result in an
accident because of a loss of engine
braking and the transmission could
be damaged.
D (Drive)
This is the normal driving position. The
tr
ansmission will automatically shift
through an 8-gear sequence, providing
the best fuel economy and power.
For extra power when passing another
vehicle or driving uphill, depress the
accelerator pedal further until you feel
the transmission downshift to a lower
gear.

To shift into D (Drive), depress the brake
pedal and press the [UNLOCK] button
on the shift lever. Move the shift lever
rearward.
To shift into D (Drive) from N (Neutral),
you must depress the brake pedal.
NOTICE
Always come to a complete stop before
shifting into D (Drive).
