2. Movethe chokeleverto the "CLOSE"position (Figure21).

For a warm engine, be surethe chokeleveris inthe "OPEN"
position.

Beforestarting the power washer,be sure you are wearing
adequatesafetygoggles.
NEVERsubstitutesafetyglassesfor safetygoggles.
Place foot on footpad or otherwise secure the unit from
movementwhen pullingthe recoil.
Whenstarting the engine,grasp the starter grip handle(Figure
24) and pull slowly until you feel some resistance.Then pull
rapidly to start engine.
Starter cordkickback (rapidretraction)can result in
bodily injury.Kickback will pull handand arm toward
enginefaster thanyoucan let go. Broken bones,
fractures, bruises, or sprainscouldresult.
* NEVERpullthe startercordwithoutfirst relievingthe spraygun
pressure.
* Whenstartingthe engine,pullthe cord slowlyuntilresistanceis
felt,thenpullrapidlyto avoidkickback.
* Aftereachstartingattempt,whereenginefailsto run,alwayspoint
the spraygunin a safedirectionandsqueezethesprayguntrigger
to releasehighpressure.
Firmlygraspthe spraygun with both handswhen using high
pressuresprayto avoidinjurywhenthespraygunkicksback.
Return the starter grip handle slowly. DO NOT let the rope
"snap back" againstthe starter.

When the engine starts, slowly the move choke lever to the
"OPEN" position as the engine warms. If the enginefalters,
move the choke lever to the "CLOSE" position, then to the
"OPEN"position (Figure25).
