Drive
If thefull rangeof speeds(forwardandreverse)cannotbeachieved,referto the
figureto the right andadjusttheshift cableasfollows:
Placetheshift leverinthe fastestforwardspeedposition(F6).
Loosenthehex nutonthe shift cableindexbracket.SeeFigure21.
Pivotthe bracketdownwardtotakeupslackinthecable.
Retightenthehexnut.
Control
Whenthedrivecontrolis releasedandinthe disengaged"up" position,thecable
shouldhaveverylittle slack.ItshouldNOTbetight. Also,if thereisexcessiveslack
inthedrivecableor if the unit experiencesintermittentdrivewhile using,the cable
mayneedto beadjusted.Checkthe adjustmentof the drivecontrolasfollows:
1. With thedrivecontrolreleased,pushthesnowthrowergentlyforward.The
unit shouldroll freely.
2. Engagethe drivecontrolandgentlyattemptto pushthesnowthrower
forward.Thewheelsshouldnot turn. Theunit shouldnot roll freely.
3. With thedrivecontrolreleased,movethe shift leverbackandforthbetween
theR2positionandthe F6positionseveraltimes.Thereshouldbeno
resistancein the shift lever.

If anyof theabovetestsfailed,the drivecableisinneedof adjustment.
Proceedasfollows:
a. Shutoff theengineasinstructedinthe Operationsection.
b. Loosenthe lowerhexbolt onthe drivecablebracket.SeeFigure22.
c. Positionthebracketupwardto providemoreslack(ordownwardto
increasecabletension).
d. RetJghtenthelowerhexbolt.
Chute
If thechutefallsto remainstationaryduringoperation,thepre-loadof the chute
canbeadjustedbytighteningthehexnutfoundonthe front ofthechutecontrol
head.

Toincreasethepreload,tighten thehexnutclockwisein lg turnintervals.

If thechutedirectionalcontrolisdifficult to crank,decreasethepreloadby
looseningthehexnut counterclockwisein lg turnintervals.
