SAFETY INFORMATION
Although your new rock speakers are designed to withstand outdoor
conditions, you can do these things to prolong the life of your speakers:
Keep dirt and leaves from covering the speaker grille. If dirt accumulates
on the grille, rinse it o with water.
Avoid facing the speakers directly at sprinklers.
Chemicals commonly used in the back yard may damage the rubber parts
of the speakers. Avoid spraying yard care chemicals onto the speakers.
SETTING UP YOUR SPEAKERS
Planning speaker locations
Your rock speakers feature a wide angle of coverage. A few speakers will
cover a large area with sound.
When designing your outdoor system:
It’s better to have more speakers playing at lower volumes than fewer
speakers playing at high volumes.
Place the speakers as close to the listening area as possible.
Make sure that you can easily run wire to each of the speaker locations.
Connecting the speakers
1 With your tape measure, measure out lengths of speaker wire required to
connect each speaker.
2 Cut the o the excess wire with a wire cutter making sure to leave
enough extra wire to make connections. Use the wire strippers to remove
a small amount of insulation from the end of the wire.
3 With the small spade or shovel, dig a ve-inch deep trench from the
amplier to each speaker location for the speaker wire.
4 Connect the outdoor speaker wire to the wire from the bottom of the
speaker. Make sure the polarity of the speaker wire connections is correct
by connecting the red wires together and the black wires together.
Note: The speaker wire can be run beneath the speaker into the ground or
through the notch on the bottom of the speaker to the side.
5 Run the wire through the trench to the amplier.
6 Connect the other end of the outdoor speaker wires to your amplier.
Connect the red wires to the red (+) speaker terminals (R and L) on the
amplier and the black wires to the black (-) speaker terminals (R and L)
on the amplier.
7 Turn your amplier on and test the system with your favorite music.
If the speakers are operating properly, ll in the wire trench.
Caution: Make sure that all connections are secure. A poor connection
can lead to corrosion and loss of performance. For best results, crimp or
solder the wires together, then cover with the twisted wire connectors
provided.
