LGoffersyoualimitedwarrantythattheenclosedsubscriberunitanditsenclosedaccessories

(1)ThelimitedwarrantyfortheproductextendsforTWELVE(12)MONTHSbeginningon

purchase,FIFTEEN(15)MONTHSfromdateofmanufactureasdeterminedbytheunit's
manufacturedatecode.

(3)Thiswarrantyisgoodonlytotheoriginalpurchaseroftheproductduringthewarranty

3. WHAT LG WILL DO:
LGwill,atitssoleoption,eitherrepair,replaceorrefundthepurchasepriceofanyunitthatis
coveredunderthislimitedwarranty.LGmaychooseatitsoptiontousefunctionallyequivalent
re-conditioned,refurbishedornewunitsorpartsoranyunits.Inaddition,LGwillnotre-install
orback-upanydata,applicationsorsoftwarethatyouhaveaddedtoyourphone.Itistherefore
recommendedthatyouback-upanysuchdataorinformationpriortosendingtheunittoLGto

causesnoknownadversehealtheffects.ManystudiesoflowlevelRFexposureshave
notfoundanybiologicaleffects.Somestudieshavesuggestedthatsomebiological

2. What is the FDA’s role concerning the safety of wireless
phones?
Underthelaw,theFDAdoesnotreviewthesafetyofradiation-emittingconsumer
productssuchaswirelessphonesbeforetheycanbesold,asitdoeswithnewdrugs
ormedicaldevices.However,theagencyhasauthoritytotakeactionifwireless
phonesareshowntoemitradiofrequencyenergy(RF)atalevelthatishazardousto
theuser.Insuchacase,theFDAcouldrequirethemanufacturersofwirelessphones
tonotifyusersofthehealthhazardandtorepair,replace,orrecallthephonessothat
thehazardnolongerexists.
AlthoughtheexistingscientificdatadonotjustifyFDAregulatoryactions,theFDAhas
urgedthewirelessphoneindustrytotakeanumberofsteps,includingthefollowing:

SupportneededresearchintopossiblebiologicaleffectsofRFofthetypeemittedby
wirelessphones;

thousandsoftimeslowerthanthosetheycangetfromwirelessphones.Basestations
arethusnotthesubjectofthesafetyquestionsdiscussedinthisdocument.
3. What kinds of phones are the subject of this update?
Theterm‘wirelessphone’refersheretohandheldwirelessphoneswithbuilt-in
antennas,oftencalled‘cell’,‘mobile’,or‘PCS’phones.Thesetypesofwirelessphones
canexposetheusertomeasurableradiofrequencyenergy(RF)becauseoftheshort
distancebetweenthephoneandtheuser’shead.TheseRFexposuresarelimited
byFCCsafetyguidelinesthatweredevelopedwiththeadviceoftheFDAandother
federalhealthandsafetyagencies.Whenthephoneislocatedatgreaterdistances
fromtheuser,theexposuretoRFisdrasticallylowerbecauseaperson’sRFexposure
decreasesrapidlywithincreasingdistancefromthesource.Theso-called‘cordless

phones,’whichhaveabaseunitconnectedtothetelephonewiringinahouse,
typicallyoperateatfarlowerpowerlevels,andthusproduceRFexposuresfarbelow
theFCCsafetylimits.
4. What are the results of the research done already?
Theresearchdonethusfarhasproducedconflictingresults,andmanystudieshave
sufferedfromflawsintheirresearchmethods.Animalexperimentsinvestigatingthe
effectsofradiofrequencyenergy(RF)exposurescharacteristicofwirelessphones
haveyieldedconflictingresultsthatoftencannotberepeatedinotherlaboratories.A
fewanimalstudies,however,havesuggestedthatlowlevelsofRFcouldaccelerate
thedevelopmentofcancerinlaboratoryanimals.However,manyofthestudies
thatshowedincreasedtumordevelopmentusedanimalsthathadbeengenetically
engineeredortreatedwithcancercausingchemicalssoastobepre-disposedto
developcancerintheabsenceofRFexposure.Otherstudiesexposedtheanimalsto
RFforupto22hoursperday.Theseconditionsarenotsimilartotheconditionsunder
whichpeopleusewirelessphones,sowedon’tknowwithcertaintywhattheresults
ofsuchstudiesmeanforhumanhealth.Threelargeepidemiologystudieshavebeen
publishedsinceDecember2000.Betweenthem,thestudiesinvestigatedanypossible
associationbetweentheuseofwirelessphonesandprimarybraincancer,glioma,
meningioma,oracousticneuroma,tumorsofthebrainorsalivarygland,leukemia,or
othercancers.Noneofthestudiesdemonstratedtheexistenceofanyharmfulhealth
effectsfromwirelessphoneRFexposures.However,noneofthestudiescananswer
questionsaboutlong-termexposures,sincetheaverageperiodofphoneuseinthese

CompatibilityActof1988(HACAct)torequiredigitalwirelessphonesbecompatible
withhearing-aids.TheintentoftheHACActistoensurereasonableaccessto
telecommunicationsservicesforpersonswithhearingdisabilities.
Whilesomewirelessphonesareusednearsomehearingdevices(hearingaidsand
cochlearimplants),usersmaydetectabuzzing,humming,orwhiningnoise.Some
hearingdevicesaremoreimmunethanotherstothisinterferencenoise,andphones
alsovaryintheamountofinterferencetheygenerate.
Thewirelesstelephoneindustryhasdevelopedaratingsystemforwirelessphones,to
assisthearingdeviceuserstofindphonesthatmaybecompatiblewiththeirhearing
devices.Notallphoneshavebeenrated.Phonesthatareratedhavetheratingontheir
boxoralabellocatedonthebox.
Theratingsarenotguarantees.Resultswillvarydependingontheuser’shearingdevice
