#1 can this fan be used with a longer down rod?

Yes I added a 4 ft down rod. I would like longer, but they are expensive over 4 ft long.

#2 Do you have to use the light kit or is there a cap?

The Fan was designed with 4 lights light kit, actually it is the part of Fan, There is no cap to fulfil the Fan without light kit.

#3 Is the fan remote control adaptable?

Yes, but please have technicien to do it for you.

#4 Why does the light switch work but not the fan switch?! Not even a hum from the fan motor. The irony is the lights come on.

Maybe the connection was failed, Please have electrician to check 1) the wire connection from power to the fan (the black wire), 2) make sure the wires connector between light kit from the fan was well connected .
