Be careful when you are trimming without
the comb as when the product is turned
on it will trim every hair it touches.
1 To contour the hairline around the ears,
comb the hair ends over the ears.
2 Tilt the product in such a way that only
one edge of the cutter blades touches
the hair ends when you shape the
contours around the ears.
3 To contour the nape of the neck or
sideburns, turn the product and make
downward strokes.
4 Move the product slowly and smoothly
following the natural hairline.
Cleaning
Clean the product after every use.
Never use scouring pads, abrasive
cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such
as alcohol, gasoline or acetone to clean
the product.
Never dry the cutting element with a towel
or tissue, as this may damage the trimming
teeth.
1 Before cleaning, switch o the product
and disconnect it from the electrical
outlet.
2 Wipe the housing of the product with a
dry cloth (Fig. 9).
3 Remove the comb and clean it with the
cleaning brush and/or rinse it under the
tap (Fig. 10).

Push the teeth of the cutting unit
upwards to remove the cutting unit from
the product (Fig. 11)
.
5 Clean the cutting unit with the cleaning
brush and/or rinse it under the tap
(Fig. 12).
6 Clean the inside of the product with the
brush and/or rinse it under the tap
(Fig. 13).
7 Carefully shake o excess water and let
all parts air dry completely.
8 For optimal performance, lubricate the
teeth of the cutting unit with a drop of
the supplied oil after each use (Fig. 14).
9 Insert the lug of the cutting unit into the
guiding slot and push the cutting unit
back onto the product (Fig. 15).
Note: If the product does not perform as
well as it used to or if the operating time
has decreased, the cutting element might
not be properly lubricated.
Storage
- Be sure the product is turned o.
Remove cord from outlet and the
product before storing it in a safe, dry
location where it will not be crushed,
banged, or subject to damage.
- Do not wrap cord around the product
when storing.
- Store cord in a safe location where it
will not be cut or damaged.
- Do not place or store the product where
it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink,
water or other liquid.
- Always store the product, attachments
and power cord in a moisture-free area.
Make sure the cord is disconnected
from the product.
Replacement
If the cutting unit becomes worn or
damaged, do not use the product and
replace immediately.
For maximum performance, we advise you
to replace the cutting unit every year.
Always replace the cutting unit with an
original Philips cutting unit.
1 Switch o the product and unplug from
the electrical outlet.
2 Push the teeth of cutting unit upwards
and pull the cutting unit o the product
(Fig. 11).
3 Remove the used cutting unit.
4 Insert the lug of the new cutting unit
into the guiding slot and push the
cutting unit onto the product (‘click’)
(Fig. 15).
