BEFORE YOU START

  • Some Klipsch® speakers have feet and other accessories that may need to be installed prior to use.

ROOM PLACEMENT

Left and Right Main Channel Speakers — For optimum performance, Klipsch Group, Inc. (KGI) suggests placing your speakers 6 to 15 feet (1.8 to 4.6m) apart. They may also be toed-in slightly for better stereo imaging. The listening position should be about 1 to 1.5 times the distance separating the speakers. Refer to Figures 1 and 3 for connection and placement.

Center Channel Speakers — Center channel speakers are designed to place dialogue and primary sounds so that they appear to come from the video screen. The speakers should therefore be placed as close to the screen as possible, preferably directly on top of or below the screen. Refer to Figures 1, 2 and 3 for connection and placement.

Rear Surround Channel Speakers — Klipsch surround speakers should be placed approximately 2 feet above the listening position. Typically this will be about 5-7 feet above the floor. The surrounds should be placed on the walls directly adjacent to the listening position. Another option would be on the wall behind the listening position. The final surround speaker placement depends on your room’s characteristics. They are designed to recreate the sense of space and ambience that many of today’s surround sound technologies provide. Refer to Figures 1, 3 and 4 for connection and placement.

CONNECTION

Conventional Connection — Using 16-12 gauge speaker wire, connect the RED “positive” (+) terminal of the LEFT speaker to the RED “positive” (+) terminal of your amplifier’s LEFT channel. Connect the BLACK “negative” (–) terminal of the LEFT speaker to the BLACK “negative” (–) terminal of your amplifier’s LEFT channel.

Repeat the above procedure for connecting all remaining speakers to the appropriate amplifier channels. Refer to Figure 3. Make sure that no bare wires from any of the connections touch any other terminals as this could cause a short and damage your equipment.

Some Klipsch Reference speakers come with dual binding posts that are connected by a metal strip. Do not remove this strip or your speakers will not function correctly. Keep this strip in place and connect your speaker wire to the top set of the binding posts. It is possible to “Bi-wire” a speaker that has two sets of binding posts. Please see your receiver’s manual for further instructions.

Amplifier Requirements — Klipsch speakers are highly efficient and will operate easily on a wide variety of amplifiers. All Klipsch speakers are 8-ohm compatible and can be driven to very high levels with low distortion. Due to the high output levels Klipsch speakers are capable of reproducing, exercise caution with the volume control. Excessive volume over long periods can permanently damage your hearing. Overdriving your amplifier could also damage your speakers. Check with your dealer or amplifier manual to make sure your particular amplifier is best suited to your application. We want you listening for a lifetime.

Q&A

Question:What's the battery for?

Answer:This is only one of the errors in the description. The second is that these are 50 watt speakers and the description calls them 200 watt. Another error is that the sticker stating the watts on the speaker is not viable in the included pictures.

Question:Are they "power speakers?" As in, could they be connected to a record player without a reciever?

Answer:The R-14M is a passive speaker that requires a receiver or amp to power it.

Question:Would these be good for near field studio monitors or not neutral enough?

Answer:As far as studio monitors, you are correct, they are not completely neutral. They are very efficent speakers however and far exceed the power ratings Klipsch specifies. Their ideal situation is really for home theather rear or side channel surround sound as effects channels. They also make a very powerful, high-fi bookshelf companion for a mini system. I am currently using them in a 7.2 Atoms setup and they knock it out of the park. If you are truely looking for 1-1 studio monitors, Yahmaha is they way to go but have your checkbook ready.

Question:Is this offer for single or pair speakers?

Answer:Pair

Question:Can I hook these up to my turntable if my turntable has a pre amp?

Answer:These are passive (not powered). You will need a phono preamp if your turntable doesnt have one built in. You will also need an amplifier or receiver (which has a built in amplifier).

Question:Can I use these speakers with the rsb 14 sound bar?

Answer:You cannot, you could only add RW1 speakers to the RSB-14 bar.

Question:Are these good as computer speakers? Or for a 2.1 surround system? Can they connect to a subwoofer?

Answer:These do have a SUB OUT RCA type connector on the back of the main speaker to connect a subwoofer. A decent 2.1 system can be made with this set of R-41PM powered speakers by adding a subwoofer.

Question:Can the R41M be connected with pin connector?

Answer:The R-41M speakers can be connected via speaker wire or Banana connectors. For runs under 50 feet, 16 AWG cable will work well!

Question:What amplifier works best with these speakers ?

Answer:Power the R-41M speakers with an AV receiver/amplifier that supplies close to 50 Watts per channel at 8 Ohms. This will ensure quality audio reproduction and longevity of the speaker's internal components.

Question:I am missing something? There are no power cables in the box. Its like im getting 2 left speakers.

Answer:The R-41M model are wired, passive speakers that will need to be connected to a receiver/amplifier for audio reproduction. The powered counterpart, the R-41PM model, will connect directly into an outlet and will not require a receiver/amplifier.

Question:Are these covered by a Klipsch warranty?

Answer:If purchased new from an authorized dealer they come with a manufacturer's warranty. If you need assistance determining which seller is an authorized dealer please contact Klipsch Support at klipsch.com/support and we would be happy to assist.

Question:Kilpsch r 41 m powerful How tall is the spearker

Answer:11.3 inches which is roughly 11 and 5/16 inches in height.

Question:Does anybody know at what frequency are these speakers are cross-overed at?

Answer:If you are asking about where the mid frequency crossover point in the speaker itself it is at 1,730 Hz.

If you are asking where to set he low pass crossover point for when the bass would be directed to the subwoofer by the receiver for use in a surround sound system then that would be 80Hz.

Question:Do these come with speaker wire? If so how much?

Answer:Speaker wire is not included with this model.

Question:I noticed that jrsourcing is listed within the unauthorized sellers on the klipsch website, does this mean that the warranty is not backed?

Answer:Products purchased from unauthorized Klipsch sellers will not receive warranty from the manufacturer. However you can still obtain troubleshooting and guidance by contacting Klipsch Product Support at 1-800-554-7724 or by submitting a request through the Support section of our website. Question:Can these be recessed inside the wall like in wall speakers?

Answer:Yes, this is a possible way to incorporate the R-41M into your setup.

Question:I have the r41m for my front and the rc42ii for a center with a 12inch reference sub. What should i cset my crossover to for the front and centers?

Answer:We recommend setting crossovers for both somewhere between 80-100 Hz.

Question:Can you use the speakers for Dolby Atmos

Answer:To achieve Dolby Atmos audio reproduction, or surround sound from above you, you will need to consider in-ceiling speakers or speakers that reflect the sound off of the ceiling back down to the listening position. Unless the R-41M speakers are ceiling mounted, they will not be able to accurately produce Atmos audio as intended.

Question:Wich amp is more suitable fosi audio bt10a or fosi audio bt20a? and what else do i need to buy? (wires or something)

Answer:The R-41M speakers should be connected to an amplifier/receiver that supplies close to 50 Watts per channel at 8 Ohms. From a glance at those amps, either one would work with the R-41M but the Fosi BT20A supplies more power per channel.

You will need a set of speaker wires to connect these speakers to the amplifier.

Question:Can I buy a replacement remote control? Ours got washed in the washing machine.

Answer:The R-41M is a passive, non-powered speaker. This model does not come with a remote control.

The powered counterpart, the R-41PM, will come with a remote control. To order this remote, please contact Klipsch Product Support at 1-800-554-7724 or by submitting a request through the Support section of our website. For a quicker contact, we also recommend opening a "chat" by going to our website and clicking the “Help” icon located in the bottom right corner
