Oklahoma Joe's 17202053 Questions and Answers

#1 If I fill the main chamber with charcoal, can I grill in the main chamber or do I have to buy a charcoal tray?

You can definitely grill in the main smoker chamber. Charcoal can be placed in the bottom of the smoker chamber.

#2 What is the thickness of the metal?

I don't know but It has a good heavy feel. It's not a cheap thin metal like you would find on most home grills.

#3 Does the Longhorn reverse flow model come with a drip bucket for capturing the grease?

No. The trays or baffles that are under the grated are designed to funnel the heat and smoke. I put foil under what I'm cooking to catch the drippings

#4 What is the difference in a flow smoker, an offset smoker?

In an offset smoker the smoke flows under the meat initially, then back over the meat and out the stack at the end where the firebox is. This makes the heat and smoke more consistent.

#5 How was this delivered? Truck line?did you have to be home?

You do have to be home but you can schedule delivery.

#6 Is the firebox big enough to cook with wood only? No charcoal?

Absolutely. I start off with one chimney of charcoal as a bed and then add wood logs about 2 to 4 inch diameter. After that, I only cook with wood.
