GE - General Electric GIE17GSNRSS Questions and Answers

#1 Have had this fridge for several months now, but the ice seems to have an after taste. Is there a filter that we should change? Any other suggestions?

We do taste and odor testing on our refrigerators and freezers. Your refrigerator does not contain any mechanical parts that will produce an odor or cause a bad taste in your food or ice cubes. Food can transfer odors and tastes to ice. Even food in the refrigerator compartment can transfer an odor or taste to the freezer to cause bad tasting ice.

There are four (4) conditions that can cause an odor or taste in your ice:

Open food containers, or spilled foods
Low ice usage. Old or stale ice will absorb food odors.
Bad water supply. Sulfur, algae, minerals, salt, etc. in the water supply can cause bad tasting water which results in bad tasting ice.
Old water filter. (Not applicable to this model, there is not water filter)

We hope this helps!

#2 Does the GIE17GSNRSS fridge comes in both left and right door open version?

This refrigerator has reversible hinges; there is not a left swing door version of this model. Thanks for checking!

#3 If my apartment didn’t connect the fridge to a water line is there another way to get the ice machine to create ice? Can I add water manually myself?

The icemaker will only be able to produce ice if the refrigerator is connected to the water line. Water cannot be added manually. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
