Frigidaire FRT21HS6JM Questions and Answers

#1 How can I avoid “freezing” in my crisper drawers?

If you are experiencing freezing in your crisper drawers,
you may want to keep in mind that air from the freezer
moving to the fresh food compartment through the
damper could result in freezing temperatures in the
crisper drawers if the unit has not be in use for an
extended period of time.
Once the refrigerator is used more frequently, this issue
should resolve itself. If not, slightly increase the
humidity setting.

#2 What is the best setting for my crisper drawers?

Setting the humidity control on your crisper drawers is
not hard but we often forget what the best setting is
based on the food type. Here are some helpful tips:
1. Leafy vegetables keep best when stored with the
humidity control set on HIGH, or in a drawer without a
humidity control. This keeps incoming air to a minimum
and maintains maximum moisture.
2. Non-leafy vegetables and fruits still in their skin
should be stored with the humidity control set on LOW.
It’s best to wash items and remove any excess water
before placing in the crisper drawers.
3. Items with strong odors or high moisture content
should be wrapped before storing.
4. If you have a refrigerator model with the Auto
CrispSeal Drawer, they are equipped with an auto
humidity control on the side of each crisper under the
humidity control cover. Good news – no settings needed

#3 How often should I change my water filter?

In general, you should change your water filter every six
months to ensure the highest possible water quality.
On most models, the Water Filter Status on your display
will illuminate and prompt you when it’s time to replace
the filter. If your refrigerator has not been used for a
period of time (during moving for example), it is
recommended to change the filter before reinstalling the
refrigerator.

To order replacement filters, simply go to our Filter &
Parts
page. Remember to order the same filter type that is
currently in
your refrigerator

#4 How do I know which water filter I need for my refrigerator?

When it comes to your water filter, compatible isn’t
comparable. Frigidaire Genuine filters offer 3 levels of
carbon filtration that trap sediment, chemicals, and
harmful impurities. Frigidaire filters are NSF certified,
the gold standard in water filtration.
Compatible or look-alike filters aren’t guaranteed to
offer the same water quality. It’s always important to
use the same filter type that is currently in your
refrigerator.

#5 When do I need to change my air filter?

In general, you should change the air filter every six
months (in most models, the filter status light on your
display will prompt you to replace the filter). Replacing
the air filter will ensure optimal filtering of refrigerator
odors.

You may want to adjust this time period depending on
the types
and amounts of food you typically store in your
refrigerator. To
order replacement filters, simply go to our Filter & Parts
page.
Remember to order the same filter type that is currently
in your
refrigerator
