Pyle PFA300 Questions and Answers

#1 I have 2 Pioneer bookshelf speakers that run at 80 RMS. Will this run them?

To be clear, this amp claims 45 W/channel *peak-to-peak*, not RMS. This unit will only put out a bit over 10 W/channel RMS. It will not hurt anything to drive larger speakers with a smaller amp, but you will not get the full volume your speakers are capable of. If your speakers are rated at 80W RMS, then this (10W RMS) amp will only produce 1/8 the power (which will sound about 1/2 as loud) as the speakers could put out with a larger amp. It depends on the efficiency of the speakers and the size of the space whether that will be loud enough for your needs or not.

#2 Would this be ok to leave on all the time? I wanted to hook up to google chrome cast and not have to shut it off. Would it overheat?

The simple answer is yes. The regulations for passing CE and UL testing include making sure the units don't overheat under normal operation. If there are any questions about a specific installation they should be covered in the documentation. I have left mine running for the full day and it still stayed cool. Heat normally is generated based on power consumption, and based on the 9V 2A power block, I don't think there will be any heat issues. see less
