GE - General Electric GIE18GCNRSA Questions and Answers

#1 How do you make ice?

This is a great question and we are happy to provide
guidance! To make ice, set the ice maker power switch to
the ON position. The ice maker will not begin to operate
until it reaches its operating temperature of 15°F (–9°C) or
below. It will then begin operation automatically. Once the
ice maker starts to make ice, it may take up to 48 hours to
fill the bin, depending on the temperature settings and
number of door openings. For your convenience, we have
posted a link to the owner's manual below where you can
find more information on the automatic icemaker.

#2 My freezer ice machine is producing dirty ice that leaves a
film on cups and glasses. I would like to clean it thoroughly.
Do you have any resources describing the proper steps to
accomplish this?

We're sorry that your ice is dirty and leaves a film on cups.
We see how this can be frustrating. We recommend
emptying your ice bucket and cleaning it out with warm,
soapy water. If this does not resolve the issue, dissolved
minerals and trapped air could be the cause of cloudy
cubes. This is normal and not harmful in any way.
The cubes freeze so fast that the air and minerals do not
have time to dissipate. Using a filtration system or a
reverse osmosis system will help somewhat but the cubes
will never be completely clear.

#3 Can you adjust the amount of ice the ice maker produce?

We apologize for the inconvenience but you can not adjust
the amount of ice the ice maker produces. The ice maker
will produce approximately 70-100 cubes in a 24-hour
period, depending on the freezer compartment
temperature. room temperature, number of door openings
and other use conditions.

#4 Can the filter for the ice machine be changed?

This model does not have a water filter, but we do have an
option if you would like to add a filter to this GIE18GTNRBB
model. For models like this, we offer an external water filter
that can be installed so that the ice is made with filtered water.
