Storage Tips
See page 121 for the part numbers of Polaris products.
Fog the Engine
Remove the spark plug and add 2-3 tablespoons of Pre mium 4 Synthetic
0W40 engine oil. T o access the plug hole, use a section of clear 1/4”
hose and a small plastic squeeze bottle filled with the pr e -me a sur ed
amount of oil. Note: Do this c a re fully! If you miss the plug hole , oil will
drain from the spark plug ca vity into the hole at the front of the c ylinder
head , a nd appea r to be an oil le ak. Install the spark plug and pull the
engine over slowly with the r ec oil starte r. Oil will be for c ed in and
around the piston r ings and r ing lands, c oating the cylinder with a
protec tive film of fresh oil.
If you choose not to use Polaris Fogging Oil, perform the following
procedure.
1. Support the front end of the machine so the engine is level or tilted
slightly rearward.
2. Remove the spark plug(s). Rotate t he piston to BDC and pour
approximately two ounces of Polaris oil into the cylinder.
3. Apply diele ctr ic grea se to the inside of the spa r k plug ca p and install
the cap onto the plug.
4. Turn the engine over several times to ensure coverage of piston
rings, cylinder walls and crankshaft bearings.
5. Treat the fuel system with Polaris Carbon Clean.
6. If Polaris fuel system additive is not used, fuel t ank, fuel lines, and
carburetor should be completely drained of gasoline. To eliminate
any fuel remaining in the carburetor, run the engine until it stops.
Lubricate
Inspect all cables and lubricate with Polaris Cable Lubricant. Follow
lubrication guidelines in the maintenance section of the service or
owner s manual to completely grease and lubricate the entire vehicle
with Polaris Premium All Season Grease.
