This manual is for various filters and protectors.
The filter or protector must have the same diameter as the lens
designed for your camera.
The filters and protectors explained in this manual were developed
jointly by Carl Zeiss and Sony Corporation, and are produced
according to the strict standards and quality assurance system of
Carl Zeiss.
Furthermore, the original “T coating” technology is used for
the filter/protector, and is designed to minimize light reflections
through the lens to reduce flaring or ghosting effects.

Caution on detaching the Filter

To detach the filter from the MC protector, place a soft cloth over
the filter and screw it off. Failure to do so may result in injury.
Features
The filter and protector are multi coated (MC) on both sides to
reduce excess light or reflection.
Circular polarized (PL) filter
The circular polarized (PL) filter is effective for removing light
reflection from glass and water surfaces, as well as brightening the hue
and enhancing the color contrast when filming outdoor scenery.
ND (neutral density) filter
The ND (neutral density) filter (ND8) enhances the contrast of
the image by restricting the amount of light through the lens when
shooting in bright conditions.
MC protector
The MC protector protects the camera lens from dirt or dust.
Attaching the Filter/Protector

Attach and tighten the filter or protector onto the screw threads of
the camera lens.
* The camera you attach the filter/protector to does not have to be the
one illustrated here.
Notes
To prevent smears or fingerprints, etc., from appearing in your
photos, be sure to wipe off the surface of the filter or protector before
attaching it to the camera.
If you attach both a filter and a protector to a lens, the screen may
darken around the edges. Should this occur, adjust the focus until the
effect disappears.
Using the circular PL filter
While checking with the viewfinder of the camera, rotate the rotor
ring of the circular PL filter. (See illustration
.) At the point
where there is least light reflection or where blue sky becomes
deeper and scenery stands out more clearly, stop rotating the rotor
ring and begin shooting.
Notes
The most effective angle for removing surface reflection is
30° to 40° with the circular PL filter on. The effect is reduced at other
angles. For example, there is hardly any effect 90° directly in front of
a reflected surface. (See illustration

When shooting scenery with the circular PL filter on to darken blue
skies, it is most effective to have the sun behind you. If you shoot into
the sun, the effect becomes weaker.
Because the exposure falls 1.5 to 2 stops with the circular PL filter on,
the image may be slightly out of focus. In this case, manually adjust
the focus.
The circular PL filter should be carefully stored in a place
not subject to heat (over 60 °C/140 °F) or in direct sunlight.
It is sensitive to heat and ultra violet rays due to the coating
process of the polarizing film between optical glasses.
Notes on cleaning/storage of the Filter/
Protector
Brush dust off the surface of the lens with a blower brush or soft
brush. Wipe off fingerprints or other smears with a soft cloth
slightly moistened with a mild detergent solution.

Características
El filtro y el protector tienen un revestimiento múltiple (MC) en
ambos lados para reducir el exceso de luz o la reflexión.
Filtro polarizado (PL) circular
El filtro polarizado (PL) circular será efectivo para eliminar la
reflexión de luz del cristal y las superficies de agua, así como para
aumentar el matiz y reforzar el contraste de los colores cuando se
tome una paisaje en exteriores.
Filtro ND (densidad neutra)
El filtro ND (densidad neutra) (ND8) realza el contraste de la
imagen restringiendo la cantidad de luz que pasa a través del
objetivo al realizar tomas en condiciones de mucho brillo.
Protector MC
El protector MC protege la cámara contra la suciedad y el polvo.
Fijación del filtro/protector

Fije y apriete el filtro o el protector en las roscas de tornillo del
objetivo de la cámara.

necesariamente la ilustrada aquí.
Notas
Para evitar que aparezcan huellas dactilares, manchas, etc. en las
fotografías asegúrese de limpiar la superficie del filtro o del protector
antes de fijarlos a la cámara.
Si fija un filtro y un protector al objetivo, es posible que los bordes
de la pantalla aparezcan oscuros. En este caso, ajuste el enfoque hasta
que el efecto desaparezca.
Utilización del filtro PL circular
Mientras lo comprueba con el visor de la cámara, gire el anillo
rotor del filtro PL circular. (Consulte la ilustración
.) En el
punto en el que la reflexión de luz sea mínima o en el que el azul
del cielo sea más profundo y el paisaje se vea más claramente, deje
de girar el anillo rotor y comience a realizar tomas.
Notas
El ángulo más efectivo para eliminar la reflexión de la superficie es de
30° a 40° con el filtro PL circular instalado. El efecto se reducirá con otros
ángulos. Por ejemplo, no habrá prácticamente efecto a 90° directamente en
frente de una superficie reflejada. (Consulte la ilustración
.)
Cuando tome un paisaje con el filtro PL circular instalado en cielos
azules profundos, lo más efectivo será tener el sol a sus espaldas. Si
realiza tomas hacia el sol, el efecto será más débil.
Como la exposición desciende de 1,5 a 2 puntos con el filtro PL
circular instalado, la imagen podrá desenfocarse ligeramente. En este
caso, ajuste manualmente el enfoque.
El filtro PL circular deberá guardarse cuidadosamente en un lugar
no sometido a calor (más de 60 °C) ni a la luz solar directa. El filtro
es sensible al calor y a los rayos ultravioleta debido al proceso
de revestimiento de la película de polarización entre las lentes
ópticas.
Notas sobre la limpieza/almacenamiento
del filtro/protector
Limpie el polvo de la superficie del objetivo con un cepillo
soplador u otro suave. Limpie las huellas dactilares u otras
manchas con un paño suave ligeramente humedecido en una
solución poco concentrada de detergente.
