#1 What is the widest board it can cut with the slide?

I took a scrap piece of wood that was wider than the saw could handle so I could see exactly how much. After cutting, I flipped the piece over and it went all the way to 8 1/4 inches. Not bad for a tiny Chop saw. You can always flip the piece over. Now when cutting a 45 angle, that number is reduced to roughly 7 5/8 inches.

#2 How do you unlock this saw? I can't seem to locate the spindle lock!

The lock pin is located on the right-hand side of the saw...toward the rear, where it pivots. To unlock, first push down on the main handle to push the blade into the table. Hold it down while you pull out the lock pin. Gently allow the saw to pivot up. Refer to page 14 of your owner's manual.
