#1 How wide is the back of the timer body?

Same width as the front. The switch body is essentially the same as a standard light switch.

#2 Will this fit in a standard switch box with three switches, to replace one of them with this?

Yes, this device can be installed in a multi-gang switch box with items on both sides.

#3 Can you program the switch to turn off after a preset number of minutes after somebody presses its button manually?

I have not used it myself, but it appears that "Countdown Mode" will do what you want. The instructions say once it's set up, "the switch will now count down for the time set every time the ON/OFF or door override is used."

#4 Does the screen have a back lite?

Yes, the 7-day in-wall timer has a white backlight. The light activates when any button is pushed. The backlight will turn off after no buttons have been pushed.

#5 Could this work somehow for a double switch plate where only one of the lights should be on a timer?

This timer only controls what's connected to it. If you wire a single light to it, that's all it will turn on/off.
