#1 It looks like that little box works as a receiver, so that would mean you can add extra speakers to it, Is that right?

No, I don't believe you can. The receiver is made just to toggle through different equipment (dvd, tv, etc). It's not set up to adjust 5.1 surround for 5 speakers. You can add more speakers to the same speaker wire jacks but it diesnt have seperate jacks for left front, left back, right front, right back, etc.

#2 Does it work well with a Directv Remote?

That's a good question. I have Directv with the latest remote but haven't tried to program the remote to work with the sound bar system, so I cannot really answer the question either way. I suggest that you go to the Sony website for the answer. Or, better yet contact a tech rep at DTV. Perhaps they have information on how to program the DTV remote to work with the sound bar.

#3 Does this system include a blu-ray player?

No blu-ray player with this system. It is basically speakers for your TV. You can connect a blu-ray player or CD player to this home theater system.
