Zojirushi NS-LGC05XB Questions and Answers

#1 Does anyone know what the temperature of the "Keep Warm" setting is?

The keep warm temperature is approximately 158°F -162°F. The keep warm function can be used for up to 12 hours.

#2 Delay timers: How many hours can I delay the start cook time? I want to set this up in a.m. and have ready in the late p.m.

That is not how the delay timer works on Zojirushi, Tiger, or other high end Japanese rice cookers. You DO NOT set the number of delay hours, instead you first select the cooking program from menu, (plain, brown, sushi, oatmeal etc.) then, you select the time you want the rice to be finished. The sophisticated logic circuit in high end Japanese rice cookers is programmed to "know" how long cooking time is, and as such, will begin the cooking process in advance in respect to how long cooking time will take as programmed into the logic circuit to have it ready for the time you set. Thus, you timer settings are infinite. All you need do is be certain time of day is set correctly, choose you program in the menu, set "timer" to the time you want rice ready and that is it. By the way there are 2 timers in this unitS so you can set a breakfast time and dinner time. Hope this helps.

#3 The inner bowl doesn't show a marking for brown rice, how much water do i put in if cooking brown rice? it shows "long grain, steel cut oats, & white

The rice cooking pan will have the water line for brown, sushi, and white rice etched on the opposite side of the pan.

#4 Which size for a family of six who like rice ?

For a family of 6 who like rice, we would recommend going with a 5.5 cup or 10 cup rice cooker.

#5 What setting do you use for rolled oats?

Rolled oats can be cooked in the rice cooker unit using the WHITE rice menu setting. Using the measuring cup provided, for every 1 cup of uncooked rolled oats you would add 1 1/2 cups of water. A 3 cup model can make a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 2 cups of uncooked rolled oats.
