#1 I live in Houston where it can get pretty hot. The camera will function OK in the heat and when parked in the hot sun?

Unless you know the USB ports built into the car supply at least 1 amp, do not use them as it will just cause issues.
You can buy a hardwire kit and wire the camera into the cars fuse box, freeing up the 12V port. Could also get a 12V cigarette port splitter.
The camera itself is probably not the best choice. It's most likely not a real 4K camera either.
