hOmeLabs HME020003N Questions and Answers

#1 How many watts does the unit use? I ask because we want to use it off our solar system.

If the unit leaves the Earth, it voids the warranty. They don’t mention this in the advertising literature.
Unless, of course, you are based in another solar system and visiting here, in which case Bravo! on choosing Earth and this air conditioner. Opposable thumbs will come in handy as the controls require quite a grip and a twisting motion, make certain you get them grown or installed before you come. Borrowing such body parts from humans after you have already arrived is frowned upon, as they are generally required for the ritual known as dating. The fjords are a must see. Enjoy your stay. Oh, it uses a little more than 400 Watts in high cool mode.

#2 What do you need to install?

Screwdriver, Tape measure, level. If you have storm window frames higher than the windowsill you will need a piece of wood the width of window to raise unit up to clear outside storm window frame.

#3 Can the leaf divider work above the air conditioner? For someone whose window opens from left to right rather than upward?

No, at least not without heavy modification. I have horizontal sliding windows as well and I just cut a piece of foam core board to fill the gap. It has been working well.

#4 Does the fan mode draw outside air or just recirculate the inside air?

It pulls air in from the room , cools it then sends it out. Does not pull air from the outside.

#5 Does it have louvers to direct the air, can see in the pic.

It has one set of 5 slats for the cold air that blows out across the upper vent of the face. It moves about 30-40 degrees left or right only. There are small bits of plastic on the vent that prevent the lever from moving more, so you could probably cut those if you need a wider range of horizontal direction
