Hamilton Beach 70740 Questions and Answers

#1 Can this processor grate/shred coconut?

It can shred anything. Hell, it even shredded my hand when i tried to reach in and get something out.

#2 Does the same blade do the shredding and the slicing? How do you select between the two functions?

There's just one blade for both shredding and slicing. You flip it over to change functions. Works great, easy to clean.

#3 Can this item make zucchini noodles?

No. It will make shred them but not make them in thin symetrical strips like a mandolin will.

#4 Does it come with a grating & grinding blades?

It comes with a blade that will both grate and slice, general grinding is accomplished with the main food processor blade.

#5 Are all the parts dishwasher-safe?

I wash everything but the but base unit in my dishwasher without any issue. The plastic container parts and the blades haven't been affected at all by frequent dishwashing use, but I tend not to use the heat cycle for drying. I'd definitely reccomend this food processor. I'm very happy with mine and use it far more than I thought i would.

#6 Is the bowl glass or plastic?

It is plastic. Can I add that for someone who got tired of looking at the super pricy models and decided to settle for a cheap model for now I am blown away by the performance!!! I am in no way using it every day, but I am super happy with it so far!

#7 Is there in bowl blade storage

When I store mine, the chopping blade is stored in the bowl. You can turn the lid upside down to store (so it's not quite as tall) and the shredding/sliding blade is stored on top of that. I would add a picture to try to show you what I mean, but I can't.

#8 Would this be a good food processor to puree Fruits and Veggies for baby food?

Yes that's actually why I originally purchased it, to make my own baby food. It did great. I would steam or boil fruits and veggies toss them in then freeze in ice trays for individual servings
