The following topics give you all the information you need to set up your phone and Boost service the first
time.
Your Phone at a Glance
The following illustration outlines your phone’s primary features.
Set Up Your Phone
You must first install and charge the battery to begin setting up your phone.
1. Install the battery.
Using the slot provided, gently lift the cover off the phone.
Insert the battery, aligning the gold contacts on the battery with the gold contacts on the
phone, and gently press the battery into place.
Insert an optional SD card, see Install a microSD card for more information.

Get Started 2
Replace the back cover, making sure all the tabs are secure and that there are no gaps
around the cover.
2. Plug the USB cable into the Charger/Accessory port on the bottom of the phone.
3. Plug the other end of the USB cable into the Charging Head, and then plug the Charging Head
into an electrical outlet to charge your battery. Fully charging a battery may take up to three
hours.
Note: Your phone’s battery should have enough charge to turn the phone on and find a signal, run the
setup application, set up voicemail, and make a call. You should fully charge the battery as soon as
possible.
4. Press and hold the Power/Lock key to turn the phone on.
If your phone is activated, it will turn on, search for Boost service, and begin the setup
application.
If your phone is not yet activated, see Activation and Service for more information.
Activation and Service
Before using your phone, you must set up your service with Boost Mobile. You will need your phone’s
serial number (MEID).
For more information about your Boost Mobile account, see Boost Account Information and Help.
Create Your Account and Pick Your Plan
Set up your Boost Mobile account.
1. From your computer, visit boostmobile.com/activate.
2. Enter your phone’s MEID and click start activation process.
Your phone’s MEID (serial number) can be found on the bottom panel of the phone’s
package.
3. Follow the remaining instructions to choose your plan and select a payment method.
4. Follow the activation instructions below and you will be able to start using your phone.

Get Started 3
Note: You can also activate by phone by calling 1-888-BOOST-4U (1-888-266-7848) from any other
phone.
Activate Your Phone
After setting up your account on boostmobile.com, simply turn your device on. Your device is designed to
activate automatically. If you are swapping from another Boost Mobile device to a new one, be sure to
turn off the old device before swapping the serial number (MEID). Once the MEID swap is complete, turn
on the new device and the programming information will be pushed to your device automatically.
You can also start the activation process manually.
■ From home, tap Apps > Settings > MORE tab > Activate this device.
Complete the Setup
The setup screens help you set up certain features and preferences on your phone. Once your phone has
been turned on, you will see a Welcome message. You can then complete the setup process.
Note: You may be able to complete the setup screens before your phone has been activated on your
Boost account.
Note: During or after setup, you may see a Connections Optimizer notice. Read the notice and tap
I AGREE to allow your phone to connect automatically to the best available data network, including
Wi-Fi. To turn Connections Optimizer off at any time, from Home, tap Apps > Settings >
CONNECTIONS tab > More networks > Mobile networks > Connections optimizer and uncheck
the box next to Connections Optimizer.
1. At the Welcome screen, choose options, and then tap NEXT to begin setup.
Language: Choose the default language for your phone’s operation.
Accessibility: Configure settings to access settings to improve the accessibility of your
phone’s features if you are visually impaired or hard of hearing.
2. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete setup for each topic. Tap NEXT, or the right arrow,
to move through the steps. You can skip options to continue to the next one. During setup, you
may see these options:
Note: Screens may vary based on the activation status of your phone.
Wi-Fi: By default, your phone prompts you to use Wi-Fi when accessing data services. Tap a
Wi-Fi access point to connect to it, or you can continue setup using your phone’s connection
to the wireless network.
Tap & Go: Quickly copy any Google Accounts, backed up apps, and data from your existing
Android device. Follow the onscreen instructions, or tap SKIP to continue setup.

Get Started 4
Google Account (Add your account): Your phone uses your Google Account to provide
access to many features and apps. Complete the steps to sign in to your current Google
Account, or sign up for a new Google Account right from your phone. You can also skip
signing in to your Google Account, or sign in later.
• To sign in to an existing Google Account, you will need your account name (Gmail
address) and password.
• For both new and existing accounts, you will need to review and accept the Terms of
Service and Privacy Policy by tapping ACCEPT when prompted.
Name: Enter your First and Last name, to personalize Google features and apps.
Google services: Select Google service preferences, including Backup & Restore, Location
and Communication options.
Samsung account: Some apps and features use your Samsung account. You can sign in to
your Samsung account, or follow the prompts to create a new account.
• To sign in to or set up a Samsung account, you will have to review and agree to the
Terms and Conditions by tapping AGREE when prompted.
Reactivation lock: If selected, Reactivation lock lets you use your Samsung account
information to prevent anyone from reactivating your device after it has been reset.
Dropbox: Dropbox provides Web-based “cloud” storage, so you can save your pictures and
videos to the Web, and any computers you link to. If you create a Dropbox account during
setup, you can get a 50GB Dropbox account for 2 years. You can create a new account here,
or sign in to your existing Dropbox account.
Learn about key features: Tap on features to learn more, enable, or disable them.
Easy mode: Easy mode offers a simpler home screen layout, with larger text and icons. Tap
the ON/OFF switch to turn on Easy mode. You can also choose Easy mode from Settings at
any time.
3. Tap FINISH to complete setup.
Your phone is now set up for use. If you skipped any part of the setup, you can access
additional options through the Apps list or through Settings.
Note: You do not need to sign up for a Google Account to use your phone. However, to download apps

Before You Start Exercising
This app can be used to monitor your exercise. While moderate physical activity, such as brisk walking, is
safe for most people, health experts suggest that you talk with your doctor before you start an exercise
program, particularly if you have any of the following conditions:
● Heart disease;
● Asthma or lung disease;
● Diabetes, or liver or kidney disease;
● Arthritis.
You should also check with your doctor if you have symptoms suggestive of heart, lung, or other serious
disease, such as:
● Pain or discomfort in your chest, neck, jaw, or arms during physical activity;
● Dizziness or loss of consciousness;
● Shortness of breath with mild exertion or at rest, or when lying down or going to bed;
● Ankle swelling, especially at night;
● A heart murmur or a rapid or pronounced heartbeat;
● Muscle pain when walking upstairs or up a hill that goes away when you rest.
Finally, the American College of Sports Medicine recommends that you see your doctor before engaging
in vigorous exercise if two or more of the following apply:
● You are a man older than age 45 or a woman older than age 55;
● You have a family history of heart disease before age 55;
● You smoke or quit smoking in the past six months;
● You have not exercised for three months or more;
● You are overweight or obese;
● You have high blood pressure or high cholesterol;
● You have impaired glucose tolerance, also called prediabetes.
When in Doubt — Check It Out
■ If you are unsure of your health status, have several health problems, or are pregnant, you should
speak with your doctor before starting a new exercise program. Working with your doctor ahead
of time is a good way to plan an exercise program that is right and safe for you. Consider it the
first step on your path to physical fitness.
