Alpine DIG100XS Questions and Answers

#1 How easy is it to clean? I want to use is outside as a hummingbird bath so I want the fountain very clean.

To refill this fountain, water is poured into an opening in the back. Then the water recirculates. I would think the birds would get it so dirty on the top and then the dirty water would recirculate. It probably wouldn’t be optimum.

#2 Do I need to empty water from fountain for winter if it is outside?

I dont empty any of my outside fountains in winter. I have 4 outside fountains. However, I live in Califonia and where I live doesnt get that cold. I would think it depends if you live where you get freezing temps. The water in the bottom could freeze and crack or break the fountain at the base. So depends on the temperatures where you live. The water bubling over the fountain wont freeze because its moving water but the water in the base is still. That would freeze.

#3 How can I stop the fountain from spewing water? It is laying flat, pump sumerged in water and on low flow but still spewing water.

We apologize for the trouble this has caused you. You can adjust the flow control to the lowest setting to avoid splashing, please make sure that the pump is fully submerged and make sure not to overfill.
