There is a small power push button switch on the front left of the unit that you manually turn on and off. There is no auto detect power that I’m aware of.

I am not entirely sure, but I know that I use the Ortofon 2m Red MM Cartridge and this preamp is amazing with that. There are dip switches on the bottom of this preamp that allow you to adjust the settings to the cartridge you are using....there are suggested settings in the owners manual. I love my Tube box S2......it will not disappoint!

The left blue light is a power indicator. The right blue light is a subsonic infiltrator. (Usually we only turn on the power - - the left hand side light).
