PREPARATIONS
ö Black level shift (NTSC output only)
Select On if you set the DVD system to NTSC and you are
playing NTSC-compatible DVDs. This will improve the
colour contrast and picture.
ö Video shift
Use this setting to personalise the position of the picture
on your TV by scrolling it to the left or right.
ö Colour settings
You can select one of the predefined sets of colour settings:
Personal, Rich, Natural, Soft or Animation..
ö Personal colour
It allows you to define your own set of colour settings by
adjusting : Saturation, Brightness and Contrast. Use 3 4
keys to adjust the values of these settings, then press OK.
ö Adv. Picture Options (for TV connection through
Pr/ Cr Pb/Cb Y Progressive Scan Video Out only)
DCDi (New Directional Correlation Deinterlacing) –
Switching on DCDi (select Y”) will optimise the image
quality significantly, especially during the slow motion
playback. It will compute and track the angle of edge to fill
in the missing pixel on the TV screen.
True Life - adjust the value of this setting (+0~+5) to
produce a more dynamic picture by increasing the picture
contrast and the colour intensity.
ö P-Scan Aspect Ratio (for TV connection through
Pr/ Cr Pb/Cb Y Progressive Scan Video Out only)
It allows you to adjust the ratio of the pictures on the TV
screen.
Non Linear Stretch – for display of 4:3 image on 16:9 TV
with non-linear stretching (center portion of screen is
stretch less than the side).
4:3 Pillar Box – for display of 4:3 image on 16:9 TV without
stretching.
Off – no aspect ration adjustment.
ö PScan Output (for TV connection through
Pr/Cr Pb/Cb Y Progressive Scan Video Out only)
This setting is only applicable for PAL DVD disc.
480P – select this setting if you are playing an PAL DVD
disc on an NTSC-compatible TV.
Unprocessed – select this setting to remain the PAL DVD
disc playback in PAL output.
ö TV System (NTSC /PAL conversion)
This setting is applicable only if you used the CVBS or
SCART jacks to connect the DVD system to a TV. Select
the colour system that matches the connected TV.
You do not need to change the setting if your TV is
PAL-compatible. The factory default setting is PAL. It will
change the video signal of a NTSC disc and playback in PAL
format.
If your TV is compatible with both NTSC and PAL,
select AUTO.
If your TV is NTSC-compatible,
select NTSC. It will not support the PAL format DVDs and
playback of a PAL DVD is not possible.
Note:
Slight picture distortions may occur due to this conversion.

ö Digital output
Digital output lets you specify the type of digital output
available with the other equipment connected.
Select All, if you have connected the DVD system’s
DIGITAL OUT jack to an equipment that has a
multichannel decoder.
Select PCM only (default setting), if the other equipment is
not capable of decoding multichannel audio.
Select Off to deactivate the digital output.
Note:
You cannot hear the SACD or MP3-CD playback if you use
the digital connection.
ö Analogue output
Select Stereo, 3D sound (TruSurround) or Multi-channel
to match your DVD home cinema system’s playback
capability.
This function can also be accessed via the
SURROUND button on the remote control.
ö Night mode
Select On to level out the volume, high volume outputs will
be softened. For example, the disc will play at the same
sound level throughout the movie.
ö Karaoke vocal (not functional for this model)
